I am blessed with a very successful mentor and there IS a market for every type of candle. I thought outside the box before I made my first candle. When I saw a 6 oz candle on Amazon for $15 and they were selling! I’m so sorry you suffer from migraines, sweet soul, how horrible that must be for you! I’m disabled and have dealt with years of painful physical issues, however they are not as intense as they used to be. Warrior on, Erica!! My candle line launches in September, I've worked so hard and was debating what to price my 8 oz candles. This video really helped me! I spent so much on quality coconut and soy blend waxes and I love my formula! I never liked cheap candles and mine are such good quality. I am glad I came across this. Time to really work out the prices! Thanks!!!
I would also love if you would do a video on how to get the best hot throw for soy and coconut wax. I find that some fragrances have better scent throws than others. That would be a great video, unless you already have that, in that case link it please! ❤

Love this so much, and your videos!! I've been feeling the same way! I started with making soy candles in 9oz amber jars, so 7oz net wt. I've since decided to switch to coconut wax for a better HT. I've been nervous to charge more than $10 but I have to put myself out there and after seeing so many recommendations from my candle fb groups I've settled for $15. I just had my first sale of 4 candles after giving out so many for people to try them out to make sure people love them!

Handmade is special and takes work and time. We don't have assembly lines with tons of help, most of us are on our own or with minimal help. Never short change yourself.

I'm still curently growing my candle business. 4yrs later. I always have a hard time pricing because people don't want to pay over $5 for candles. It's crazy.
Try Etsy and Amazon there’s candles that have no problem selling for $30+ it’s all about the audience that sees your candles. And for the ppl who do price their candles under $10 they box their selves in if they ever wanted to sell in retail shops no retail is going to pay full price they want a wholesale price
People don’t want quality candles. They want what’s cheap which is sad

OMG I’ve been having that same blurriness/migraine for years and it just comes randomly every couple of months! I’ve told my primary doctor and eye doctor about it but no solutions were ever given besides wearing sunny glasses indoors 🤦🏾♀️

I love your videos so much. Thank you for all of your advice. I have just started my small business and I am terrified to price my candles. I am pricing mine at $20 NZD and thought it was high, but just covering the cost of the candle is over $10NZD, so if I charge less, then I wouldn't really make a profit! I'm still scared that $20 NZD is too expensive, but after researching similar products in NZ, I realize I'm on par/ slightly cheaper then others. It is sooo hard to ask friends and family for $20NZD per candle, but I put so much love and effort into each candle and they are worth it.

I do have a question on the pricing…let’s say like your candle is 22.50 and it cost 7.00 to ship are you literally just adding that to your price and saying it’s 29.50 and now it’s free shipping? I’m having so much trouble over thinking this.

Headaches like that in my experience can happen when your blood sugar levels are out of whack. Just in case you may want to consult a doctor. I didn’t. I had breakfast earlier this morning and then I drove 2 hours home and then immediately started setting up to film. That’s what I assumed what happened that’s why I grabbed some orange juice hoping it would help 😅 luckily it didn’t last long because I was able to lay down right away. ❤️

You don’t have to add the care sticker/cards. The warning labels are enough legally. I just like to bring more attention to the safety guidelines!

I got over their sticker price when they offer free shipping. Nothing is free, but vessels are the most difficult to get shipped at a decent price. I just never got into the plain old canning jars. They are ok, but that's not how I personally previewed my line. I wanted a step above. I wanted my customers to have a beautiful container when the candle was gone, not a jelly jar. I know people have told me they have their pretty containers by their bedside table, coffee table, etc. That makes me feel great that I've left them with something they enjoy after the burning of their candle. So, I guess it depends on your out look. It definitely is more expensive to have beautiful vessels, but I think it is so worth it, when they aren't chucking it in the garbage! They are in the long run purchasing that container. I also have a short note I give out with my candles on easy wax removal to help out. I even had a lady bring her personal container back and ask me to refill it with a new fragrance. I charged her just a few dollars less to do this and since then she's returned a couple times to refill. Thinking of saying something along the lines that I do refills for whatever price. This only works with glass, no tins.

Hi, should I price my candles at a lower price for vendor events since I won't be packing or shipping anything out?
Yes or no, it just depends on how you are pricing your candles online. You need to have a retail price that will be consistent on all platforms (both online and in person)
For instance, my candles cost $22. However, online I list them as $29 with free shipping. I would sell them for $22 at vendor events.
So just make sure you have a consistent retail price. ☺️
Does Inventora give you cogs?
I found people are willing to pay for quality. If your using a premium wax and great fragrance, you also need to figure your labor out properly. Everyone has a problem charging there labor.... your time is money. Never sell yourself short or think your time is negotiable. It's not! I always, always think of myself in the equation. Keep your mind set on your business. People will always be willing to pay a fair price for that special item. Everything you make is special if you truly use great quality materials, smart labeling, unusual fragrance (high end) and devoting yourself to making an awesome product. This goes for candles, soap, skin care, crochet, knitting or whatever. I agree, I price my products according to the materials and the craftsmanship. My prices are in line with yours. I have never made an 8 or 9 dollar candle. People who do don't have faith in what they are producing. If your unsure of yourself this isn't the business for you. Thanks for covering this topic it has needed to be stated for a long time! Bravo for doing it well, and being honest! Although I must say, I haven't gotten my goods cheap enough for production of a 4 dollar investment! My jars are more than that and I buy quit a few at a time!!!
I will say until I have no more breath left! research! research! research and know your target market. You wouldn't go looking for a new job by just copying someone else's resume right? You would research the company, tailor your cover letter and format your resume to be highlight your experience and fit the companies needs. Get to know your customer, get to know your niche and you can charge what need. Knowing your target customer also tells you how to advertise, where to advertise and most importantly the cost of acquiring a new customer! There is no short cut for the research!
Low ventilated room and the fumes from candles does that... also blurry vision like that could be many things .. retinal detachment or even small sign of heat stroke 🥵.. it’s not a good sign ... go to the Dr to discuss ... I had the same thing once turned to be a mini stroke i was 27 ... since then I am careful... but if you live in CA we had a heatwave ... don’t mean to lecture I just wanted to share hope you feel better.

When you are first making candles-giveaway to family and friends.
You have poor ethics if you ask your family members to buy your candles.
I know everyone's situation is different, but I completely disagree with you on this. I am working on starting a candle business and have had endless support from family and friends who are really excited to buy candles from me and support my business rather than spending that same money elsewhere. I will likely offer a family/friends discount whenever I start selling so I can still cover my costs and help my business grow and get bigger, but it is not cheap to start a business, and I wouldn't be doing myself or my business any good by continuing to lose money because I felt compelled to give away my time and investment for free.
