    Correct, the years of screaming "down the line son" or "keep the ball in the air lads because when its there the can't get it" are past, English coaches have always been second best to foreign because they understand skill not brawn, thunderous tackles are more important

    • @rjw4762
      @rjw4762 48 минут назад

      One of the reasons that English clubs played long balls was due to the state of the pitches. Watch any game pre mid-1980s and the pitches were like Rugby fields - hitting the ball long was an obvious option. Skillfull players struggled to run with the ball.,...which is why the world's best players headed for Italy in the 80s, where the pitches were decent. Worth saying though that when English clubs reached the European Cup final for 9 years out of 11 (winning it 7 times) no-one thought English Coaches were second-best then. In fact Barcalona tried to entice Brian CLough there in 1980, telling him " We are about to sign the best young player in the world - Maradonna". Imagine those two !!

    It is crazy to me for example as a Portuguese person the vast majority of coaches in Portugal are Portuguese. The dutch league is the same dutch managers everywhere, Spain (mostly) the same especially outside of the top three its pretty much all Spanish, Italy the same. England is one of the few countries if not probably the most unique example where all the coaches bar a select few in top division are all foreign pretty much. Maybe it’s because Prem has more money to get the top managers but it really is a stark difference

    When have there ever been more than a couple of top English managers? The cream go to the top leagues. When Italy was the top league how many English mangers were there? Hodgson at Inter. That's it. How many in Spain? Robson and Venebles. That's it. Ron Atkinson managing Man Utd is an example of how average English managers were.

    Exactly, were only constantly told we have the top league because its selling the product. I would say La Liga has a strong claim to being the best. Real Madrid dominate the CL and Sevilla dominate the Europa. If Spanish teams aren't winning the european comps they are going deep into it.

    Its simple. EPL teams have mostly foreign players so it makes sense to hire a coach who speaks at least 2 or maybe 3 European languages. Its mostly that simple.

    • @MentalityGiant
      @MentalityGiant 8 часов назад

      Not really because most players speak English, as they cannot all speak each others languages. In most dressing rooms with different nationalities in the team they speak English, because most players can speak English. Not just in the Premier League either.

    Never in my life have English coaches been part of the conversation. the FA have done this country bad for years until now with Tucel but the fact your having this conversation now when we've had 8 years of absolute dripfeed under Southgate I find baffling because this conversation should of been a weekly discussion! stop kidding yourself and everyone with this bs! us lot are up our own jacksy thinking we can compete in certain areas when we can't! this ain't a new topic we've stunk the gaff out for 8 years with a guy totally out of his depth! so pipe down and get back to reality because this joke ain't nothing new!
