In my opinion here in msfs we have the most important setting for VR for cockpit inside feeling.
      1. Shadow maps. You can set it “4096”in cfg file. You will get shadows like in real life. But i use 2048. In your setting its loo low! Shadows in cockpit very important, because its so close to your eyes.
      2. Windshields effects only “ULTRA” for VR, because if use “high”, you got no reflections inside cockpit.
      3. Reymached reflections “ULTRA”, see point number 2.
      4. Light shafts on ULTRA, because if you set on HiGH, you lose a lot of effects like in leal life, when sun blinding you through mirrors inside cockpit. Its MUST only on ULTRA.
But. If you fly behind the plane these settings not important and can use medium.
Its have HUGE impact for Inside cockpit feeling.
Ambient occusion medium. If low, you also lose a lot.
But. I have 4090. For 3070 i think these settings too heavy

Make sure you don't have heavy 5ghz wifi traffic bottlenecking your performance. Especially if you live in an apartment complex. After getting a Wifi 6e router, wireless pcvr performance improved dramatically. The game fully playable in VR on my 3070 core i7 system. If you have a less powerful system but really want to do VR flight sim, Aerofly FS 4 has unbeatable VR performance, but you'll have to sacrifice on scenery detail and features.

Good results with your setting for MSFS. Using a Quest 3, my PC is a 3060ti, i7 11700k, 32gb, with virtual desktop version 1.29.9, released today. Did not override resolution in openxr toolkit (not running oculus tray tool). Processor 11700k overclocked at 4.4 Ghz. No overclock on graphics card. It annoys me when RUclipsrs say how amazing certain games are on their multi-thousand pound 13900k, 4090 PC's, when a very small percentage of their viewers will be running the same/similar specs. IMO it essentially renders the video pointless for everyone else. I have a Quest 3 but I've been struggling getting MSFS running well on it with my aged 8600k and 3080 PC. IU have tried getting Virtual Desktop through the Meta store twice, and I could not get any version you have in this video, or the version 2 others had in their videos. And both times I could not get the desktop streamer that shows open xr in it, nor the new version, or beta of open xr to use with the desktop streamer. So both times I got a refund. I am using an RTX 3070 and a Quest 3, and with DLSS, the default settings VR settings with clouds to ultra and tress and building to high, and running the VR at 72 Hz, with open Xr at 36 FPS I am flying at 36 FPS with 5%-40% of headspace and it is buttery smooth withy no stutters and clear as my 1440p monitor. So I think I am done tweaking and chasing settings, until I upgrade to a 4090 I think I have found my VR sweet spot in MSFS. Thank you for the great video. The Oculus tray tool is set to 1.3 for SS.

Hi Steve. In msfs with oculus image can be totaly different in terms of sharpening settings. 1 month i spent ang got the best result
    1. In sim settings sharpening is zero “0”
    2. OpenXR sharpening in “CAS” mode, but keep it on Zero “0”. Cas mode get you a lot more details, but this is a lot “aliasing mode”and if you keep it on “0”, you are switching on the cas, but with almost no aliasing.
    3. Oculus link sharpening “normal” , because off or quality settings get you same aliasing, but blurry image in my opinion. I dont see oversharp in normal mode.
What I noticed, oculus software or msfs conflict with sharpening and better switching off one of sharpening.
    Try to play with it.
For VD this setting get me the best picture, but i prefer link beacuse it’s smoother
If use this settings, there is Almost No shimmering or Aliasing in TAA. If use DLSS(dlaa) its perfect. No shimmering or aliasing
If you can please experiment with all sharpening settings (msfs, oculus link and openxr) and make separate video only about sharpening. Because it the MUST important in terms if visual and you get so different look image if use CAS or NIS sharpening.
    Thank you!

I wonder why and if you're not getting a terrible runway texture for example. I recommend 6x6 with the 4090 and anisotropic turned OFF while 16x in the nVidia control panel. I also recommend 120hz in virtual desktop, then motion reprojection ON (AKA Spacewarp). Don't ask me why but looks like that when you push the 4090 it works better. I would definitely appreciate a short video on the graphics settings terms and what it means. Ex : what is a glare? what is vertical async? SSW? Sharpening vs levels of details. I look at your videos with a lot of interest but I must admit I have no clue what most of the graphics options do in the settings is MsFs. Same goes for the NVidia control pannel options, XR toolkit. Or perhaps you have a link to understand all those terms? Cheers from Quebec!

I use Quest 3 + VD for wireless streaming to play DCS.
I've tried to lower the in-game settings of DCS, and currently, the frame rate and effects are basically satisfactory.
However, occasionally the 3D image on the Quest headset freezes while the image on the computer screen remains visible.
I have no choice but to force quit the game. It's very annoying, especially when trying to view the map with F10 during big missions.
I've already dedicated a great game wifi6 router for the computer and Quest headset, with the computer connected via Ethernet cable. It's confirmed to be a gigabit network.

@vrflightsimguy ok I've spent the last few days testing my Q3, and have come to a verdict. I'll be using the link cable and not VDXR. You'll never guess the main reason! The oculus software let's me set the horizontal fov multiplier to a value > 1 (1.2 in my case), and this removes the very annoying black edge that can be seen in the view when turning your head in VR (it's basically the edge of the screen that gets the edge of the rendered image shifted off of it). This one reason is enough to make the link cable the obvious choice for me. But with the 940Mbps hack, and supersampled resolution (on a 4070ti) it looks very sharp indeed! Also don't forget to update DLSS to the latest version!!! Overall a big improvement over the G2 imho (pretty happy not to have that tiny sweet spot anymore!)

Hi there @VR Flight Sim Guy, Amazing setup guide thanks so much. I use one with a 4090 & 64memory and run MSFS, DCS and IL-2 all in highest quality settings, with not skipped frames whatsoever. I think the 4080 would actually do just as well with current software. I still own the Rift CV1, it's gone out to the family and come back the last couple of months since i bought the Quest 3. I would say checkout Tyriel Wood's video of the Quest Pro/Quest 2/Quest 3 through the lens if you want to see the screendoor effect (SDE). It is noticable on the Quest 3, oddly it's more noticable in MSFS on stuff further away and the cockpit representation is absolutely fine. Much better than the CV1 but you can tell the colours are not completely solid in areas but it's ok just don't expect objects in the distance to appear sharp
Compared to other headsets, I've tried the Quest 2 and Pico 4 and both are much better for SDE than the Quest 3. Unfortunately it's the worst of the modern headsets for this effect, on par with the Quest Pro. Higher end headsets I don't own but you shouldn't have any SDE with the Bigscreen Beyond, Crystal or Aero, HP G2.
Despite the SDE for the Quest 3, it's not a deal breaker for me and the lenses are sensational - undoubtly the reason why SDE exists in the Quest 3 to begin with as they are super sharp across the whole display. Coming from the CV1 I had no idea about edge to edge clarity as the CV1 is supprisingly uniform but not particularly clear to begin with. Headset's like the PSVR 2 and G2 have horrible sweatspots eyes need to be in the exact position to see clearly and both suffer from poor edge to edge clarity.

I "upgraded" from a rift-s to Quest 3 and clarity is definitely better. SDE is still noticeable to me but it's pretty minor. Quest 3 is not comfortable at all though compared to my perfectly fitting rift-s that I can wear all day if I wanted. You will need to invest in a new premium strap. Also battery packs if you don't want to be hooked to the wire a lot. One thing I don't care for about the Quest 3 is the darkening around the edges of the lenses. My rift-s is consistent brightness clear to the edge. I started out with Rift CV1, any of these newer headset are going to blow you away with the clarity improvement. Colors will not be as good on the LCD based units though.

I'd personally say the clarity in the centre point of the Reverb G2 is a bit sharper, but of course, the Quest 3 has edge to edge clarity which, if you can up the resolution, looks fabulous. Keep in mind though, the image quality will always suffer overall due to the lack of DP connection.

Currently limited to 500 which still gives too much CPU latency which is limiting my 4090 and limiting use of better settings. • @Thunderbird1337
      @Thunderbird1337 5 месяцев назад

@@R-py6uf It's not that complicated. The videos are more or less telling all the same. For a cable connection (what I'm using) you only need a couple of settings in the Oculus Debug Tool (for the streaming) and the OpenXR Toolkit for the games that support it (like MSF2020 or Automobilista 2). Sure, each game can require a litte time until you found the optimal settings for it (especially demanding games like MSFS2020 or Automobilista 2), but it's not that bad. Even without VR you would need time to optimize the settings of a demanding game.

I mean - if you play only MSFS2020 you can obviously go through these motions once, but if you want to alternate between this and other PCVR games, it is seriously so much hassle every time, in addition to setting up the flight controls, running the inevitable updates, etc., that I tend to not bother and just play a couple rounds Population One instead. :/

I have 50 to 60 Frames very smooth. OpenXR 150, And in OpenXR Toolkit the native Resolution from G2. If i must go back in MSFS so much, i think that not good for me. Ok i would have Pancakelenses and bigger FOV- but in Flightsim the Best Picture your System can give, is the important Thing. MSFS with Terainlevel of 120 looks not good. All what MSFS 2020 looks sooo good , goes away. Maybe i dont understand you right. I Think the G2 with Facemode works very well at this Time and have an Amazing Picture. Of course G2 have not Pancake, but Displaport:-) Crystal have a Premium Picture. But it is a massive Item. I think next year, other very good HMD comes out- maybe with loss weight, smaller and with same Resolution and FOV or bether than Crystal for less Price.
