Same. Although, I’m sure if it was reversed and Bruce sang on the first two albums, and Paul on the rest after, and we’d been used to hearing Bruce sing those songs on the albums for 43 years we’d say “as much as I love Paul, I’m glad Bruce sang the first two albums.”

They were all there. Bruce was in the vocal booth, they were in the control room. Bruce tells the story of how they all huddled together and just left him there as they made the decision.
This wasn't the first time playing together, though. They'd already jammed.

Punk and metal are not as far apart as some gatekeepers on either side seem to think. Yeah, punk is generally more stripped down and simplified in song structures, but heck so is AC/DC, and they're usually labeled metal or even just hard rock.
Paul DiAnno was into punk rock before joining Iron Maiden. The other band members got him also listening to more metal-oriented bands like UFO. But I don't think he ever stopped liking punk bands like the Ramones, too.
DiAnno's vocal style was definitely more on the punky side, very gruff and harsh (in a good way). That's probably what people are thinking of when they say that early Iron Maiden had a bit of a punk edge.
But don't say that to Steve Harris if you ever get the chance to meet him. He does NOT like that description! 🤣

    • @straty5598

@deantodd8103 I don't really hear it to be honest, I can maybe see it in Paul's appearance. Killers ficou sensacional!

I like both Bruce and Paul’s vocals. Both in remember tomorrow, but Bruce did it better in one part. In the part of “yesterday sorrows”, I felt Paul kinda rushed it a bit and the beat is a slower one. But, Bruce slowed it down a bit and fits better.

Maiden was one of the first metal bands i played drums to, started with pop and disco music when i was 14-15 but after half a year it got to easy to play. After testing Jazz and classical music wich was harder but didnt have the energy i needed. Listening to Sweet album Desolation Boulevard and listening to the solo on man with the golden arm got me hooked. After that i bought some new records that just had come out and one of them was a maiden record and trying to master that music took me a while. Talking about the singers, i always fealt that Dianno had to little power live and couldnt sing anywhere near like the records so when Bruce took over i really thought it was better. The music itself is same though with the fantastic melodies and riffs. Those who disagree i respect, up the irons.

Paul kicks ass, but for those who don't like Bruce due to his operatic tendencies, they need to hear that version of Killers, thats some young Hetfield stuff with better range, almost the perfect thrash singer. Just to add, Bruce is my favorite vocalist, just when he was younger, with that screaming, he could of fronted a killer thrash band, that was still a couple of years and some more brutal guitar playing away though
