WRITTEN PATTERN
- Slip-knot, chain 4, slip-st in first chain.
- Rnd 1: Chain 2, slip-st in 2nd chain, bind off (chain 1, cut n pull).
- Rnd 2: Chain 2, 2 Dc in same corner, * chain 1, 3 Dc + chain 2 + 3 Dc in next chain 2 space (corner), repeat from * for 2 more times, chain 1, 3 Dc in last/first corner, chain 2, slip-st in 2nd chain, bind off.
- Rnd 3: Chain 2, 2 Dc in same corner, * chain 1, 3 Dc in chain1-space, chain 1, 3 Dc + chain 2 + 3 Dc in chain2-space, repeat from * until end of round, chain 1, 3 Dc in last corner, chain 2, slip-st in 2nd chain, bind off.
- Rnd 4 & so on: Chain 2, 2 Dc in same corner, * chain 1, 3 Dc in chain1-space, chain 1, ..., 3 Dc + chain 2 + 3 Dc in chain2-space, repeat from * until end of round, chain 1, 3 Dc in last corner, chain 2, slip-st in 2nd chain, bind off.

This is the very best tutorial that I have found for teaching beginners how to crochet a granny square. Perhaps the person who commented that there was too much talk, already knows how to crochet. Can I say for beginners like myself, every single instruction has been invaluable. There are plenty of good tutorials but so many are too fast and don’t contain enough instruction for beginners.
