Could you give measurements for the granny square sizes? I am using lighting weight yarn and a smaller hook so I know I’ll need to do more rounds to get to the ideal size

I'd say add a little bit to the circumference for ease and then divide the number by 4 (as there is 4 squares going around the head), your granny square should be this number at each side
