It was the 12th of December, 2016 when Netflix announced that it would not be renewing one of the best historical dramas on the platform: Marco Polo. Fans were heartbroken, and 5 years later people want to know why Netflix decided to end their relationship with the drama. This is a clear indication that the series had already built a loyal following. Are there any chances that the drama will come back to the list of offerings on the Netflix website? I think the person who is saddened the most by the lack of a third season is the Khan because I feel that he was enjoying the character he was playing 🤣🤣
He became the sorcerer supreme though

One of the best shows ever made with the most artistic poetry spoken and broad landscapes of acting. Sadly, Jingym, never learned his wife died & killed herself to keep a secret.

Just rewatched this series yesterday for the 6th time in my life and I still tear up towards the ending of season two thinking about how I know I’ll never know how the story finishes. Its historical so I have some idea but you get what I mean… it’s sad. This would be my favorite show of all time had it gotten an ending.
Absolutely brutal how they butchered this show like it was nothing. Huge potential and excellent story, I’m still hanging on the cliff of this show. Knowing it will never return , is a heartbreak.
Rewatching it, and I will continuously doing it among Viking, The Last Kingdom, Rome, etc
Rome was probably the best Historical Fiction show IMO, atleast it was acurrate and very rarely brought modern politics into it... too bad GoT sucked up all of HBO's budget and they didn't continue it

One thing i hate with passion is after canceling it, they still leave it on their silly platform for people to be hearbroken, next time what i do is to check if a series is canceled before watching, what a silly waste of time
The problem is in how Netflix measures success. Existing subscribers that are watching Marco Polo aren't considered as a win. In Netflix eyes they would have continue to subscribe regardless even if they didn't continue to produce the show which was expansive no doubt. Netflix subscribership worldwide also continue to grow through the 2010s. So as shows gets successful and therefore expansive to produce they get cancelled because the number of new subscribers gained from a particular show goes down as the show ages.

The acting was top notch and interesting to watch. No dead scenes or dull moments. Good twists. The crappy audience is hardly their fault. Ugly betty is profitable and I wouldn’t watch even if they run me over with 1000 horses.

Like these video..... It's was Great.... In my perspective..... It didn't feel like 2016.......waiting for someone with lots of cash.... To able to produce it... Without expecting in return.....for me Marco Polo.... Is consistent... With value..... I guess Few people want value.....but a different value..... No one willing to sacrifice.....

I love it and really wish there was a third season.
This was an amazing series - I have no clue why they cancelled it since Netflix clearly had the money to continue it and they just wasted it on other things.
This was like HBO's Band of Brothers or Game of Thrones. The decision to cancel it was absolutely insane.
It's one for the ages and a crowning achievement for a streaming channel to be proud of and to offer for years to come. They could have expanded into other series as well.

this was an excellent series with a talented cadre of actors. i am amazed how a series like Emily in Paris could have gotten a third season and not Marco Polo. The appetite of the average viewer seems shallow, at best.

I am very disappointed that there will not be a third season. And this is why I don't like watching series on Netflix. Because they discontinue them and leave you unsatisfied. It was a very good show. The 2 seasons were great. Marco Polo I would definitely watch It on another platform.

Way too many story line in season 2. It was overkill.
Pity, the show was excellent, plot, dialogues, casting, costumes and locations but no point in blaming Netflix, it's simply the audience, stuff like Virgin River got I think to Season 5 and it's absolutely rubbish, people seem to love it though, so give people what they want.
And Netflix will keep many other rubbish shows.

Its widely inaccurate and has a lot of loop holes in its plot both in historical context and when compared with other historical dramas like Vikings. the cast population is majority asian, which doesn't interest the public, and the portrayal of asian in the show appears low and cheap, which I'm guessing didn't win it any additional market share. Overall entertaining series but might have had better luck shooting a Batu Khan and didn't have to set the scenes in a historical setting the cast and crew knew oddly very little about, and purely based on a unreliable retell.
