Hard to believe Lorenzo just recently learned English. He speaks it perfectly
+CHristine Simmons haha yeah he just used the word "chronologically" I'm not buying this. I don't believe that he knew NO English at all before the show. I'm sure he knew at least a little and then he perfected it.
+William Haltom Well, chronologically is 'cronologicamente' in italian. it isn't that hard to guess.
Anyway he probably knew some basic english before, as we all study at least a little bit of it in school here in Italy. But maybe he meant that he had never really talked or practiced the language before.
+CHristine Simmons Yeah, in non-speaking english countries english is taught very well, (I was born in italy and moved to australia, and I already knew a bit of english even though I was barely in grade 5), because english of course is a very important language around the world. He wouldn't have spoken it fluently, but basic knowledge was already there. For example, my italian cousins and I can hold up a pretty basic and fluent english conversation.

Likewise I could not say one bad word about any of the cast they were all excellent. It's a pitty as the end of season 2 was the last thing we see was a deserted place and I was left wondering wow I can't wait for the next season. Shame reality

oh I am so heartbroken right now. I just found this show on Netflix and was halfway through season1 when I found out it was cancelled. I binge watched all of season 1 and 2 in the last few days now, and find myself fully engulfed in the story lines. This is hands down the best show I have seen maybe ever in my life. The actors are fantastic, this is going to kill me a little bit everyday unless I get a decent ending to it. Please!!!!! Netflix bring back Marco Polo, I loved everything about this show and how authentic it felt. Hundred Eyes is a wonderful character but I want more of your original show as well. Why Why Why wasn't this advertised more?

cant agree more, was so enwrapped with the characters story lines more than any other tv show ive watched probably, and the historical setting and landscapes and its scenery and the era mystique all of it was superb-wish it had completed ending

Loved the show.
Never heard of an actor learning a new language just to play a certain character! Usually, actors learn skills, like playing an instrument, swordfighting, or speaking with a different accent. But Lorenzo didn't know English before taking on the role? That's fantastic!

Yeah, but there is no way he could ve learnt a full language under one year. He had some rusty background and with very proffessional teachers, it could be done.

Just literally moments ago, I had just finished binge watching the two seasons of Netflix's Marco Polo. Eager to find out when season three comes out, I learn that the show had been cancelled... three years ago! I am utterly wrecked, disappointed, and sad. The story must go on... There's so much more to tell, so much more to see.
Alas, no one is picking up the mantle. And I'm just left here stunned that these characters were in my life but for a brief moment...
Long live, Kubali! Long live, Marco! And Acmed, you got your just dessert.

he learnt english for the show. I know its his job but there us still a level of detection that is commendable for his and all the other actors in this show! I hope the show wins awards because everyone has worked hard to capture these historical figure in a realistic manner.

So sad this show does'nt have season 3. I did'nt see the last chapter yet, I thought I would found more content but now I know this will be the last chapter of this incredible world. So nostalgic, maybe I will repeat all the show again so I can keep that world with life.

6yrs ago lol but I feel the same way after just finishing it. My gf and I stumbled across the hundred eyes short film then got addicted. It's absolutely tragic that Netflix decided to put funds into all their other trash instead of this.

No one could play kublai better than him. He dominated every scene. Such a great show
Interesting how Wang said he might still choose Kublai if he could choose any history figure. Kublai was only the actual ruler of the part of Mongolia that later became Yuan Dynasty.If he had to say it should have been Genghis. I guess it just never occurred to him to get to know some historical figures of his same ethnicity.
I just discovered this show a couple of weeks ago and I finished both seasons and now I'm heartbroken.

I Loved Benedict Wong as Kublai. MP was the best show ever on Netflix. Absolutely amazing, best-ever series ever. I was hoping that Showtime, of HBO would pick up, and carry this torch. Why the HELL would you leave so many fans in utter disappointment? As a writer, and as an entrepreneur, I fail to see the logic in producing a series that so many "X's" millions of fans want to see? It just doesn't make sense. Yes, we know it was a Harvey Weinstein production. But he is in jail, despite the fact that he was a talented film producer. But why punish the audience. Netflix need to take those reigns and muster forward all control of this amazing, well produced, historical adventure, that we millions of fans have so fell in love with. Yes, Harvey is a scum-bag. But do not let his "Scumbagary" taint the wonderful story of Marco Polo, and his adventures in Mongolia. I loved Benedict Wong in this series. I cant wait to see more of his beautiful acting skills. And Michelle Yeoh, Tom Wu, Zhu Zhu? What an amazing, and beautiful bunch of actors. I absolutely love them to pieces! Amazing cast, amazing story. Why are we not harassing Netflix to continue this Awesome adventure? Lets harass the shit out of those bastards for denying us what is possibly be the best story evert told... on Netflix!

It's a fantastic show but cancelled for the budget, the companies that pick up shows like this would be Netflix which is obiously can't. It was fairly popular and well done but it would have had to have had SO MANY viewers/new subscriptions to have any success. A real shame.
