you have to PAY to unlock a lighting animation!?
Its an optional extra to get the full collection. Its like paying 250 for a different wheel rim
Well... It is still better than a non included feature that you can't unlock after the purchase... Imagine having some sensors on your car and you can unlock them if you feel like you'll like them when you have the money to unlock them.
Still... 250 for an animation... That sucks...
Gotta love how so many car companies nowadays are locking out hardware that already exists on the cars through software with paywalls.

bought my daughter a 2018 KIA Forte in 2019 (her first car while in High School). The single worst purchase I've ever made - it hasn't been stolen or burst into flames [yet] but our insurance premiums in Illinois are more reflective of a luxury sedan than an economy vehicle. Someone please start up a second class action lawsuit to address both Hyundai/KIA negligence on behalf of ALL owners irregardless of theft, fire, etc. Owner insurance premiums totaling nearly twice the cost they should be isn't fair. They shouldn't be allowed to sell vehicles in the U.S. until this is addressed.
@@tocreatee5736 ya done goofed. First off, why is this a reply to a totally unrelated comment. Secondly, Kia and Hyundai DID get sued, all of this has been going on for years, and I own a 2023 Kia Soul that has lower insurance premium than most cars.
the lounge mode is for the times u r in the car while it is charging....that's what they have been saying for a long time now with their other cars
would be great for the Drive In as well if you have one in the area. I have 2 by where I live and that would be awesome
Yeah, always tried making my own lounge mode on Tesla model S. On long drives, it's nice to get some shut eye whilst charging.
Kia is awesome now. I wonder if that's Ashley Schaeffer's doing or not.

I really hope nobody gets it just to have some push back against this crap.
compared to the cost of the car i guess 😂
Huge is an understatement. I've seen it in person. It isn't two Hummers strapped together but I would not want to be a pedestrian in front of these things.
Yes, this is the biggest car in Europe that isn't imported. At least what I've seen.
SUVs are a blight on our roads

Genuine question, if you have any in your area what do you think of the Shell Recharge chargers? I'm a software engineer on one of the Shell Recharge teams and we're doing a ton of work to try and improve charger uptime. There's still tons of work to do so my expectation is that the charger experience still isn't great, but my hopes are high :)
I mean.. Can you tell us what your charger uptime is like right now? I think you're fighting against 96%+ uptime on the superchargers. And even EA seems to be getting better.
I'm personally definitely looking forward to having reliable, interconnected networks across the country providing options to drivers.
Probably can't tell us, but wondering if and when there will be a switch to NACS. Also wondering if anyone will bite the bullet and create a unified app experience that can combine station information (charger status, open stalls, cars en route, etc) from multiple brands into one, to rival the SC network. Shell, I imagine, isn't planning extreme solo expansion and might well benefit from just such a thing.

Damn, the space when all the seats are down is mad. Chuck an inflatable mattress in there and you got a decent mobile bedroom, haha.
Got ours a few weeks back. Put 1100km on it helping family and friends move about. It is super quiet and surprisingly agile despite the obvious size of the thing. Previously we had a Tesla and the difference in quality is immediately obvious. Recommended!
I have a question for you. I am a windsurfer, and I am the lookout for an EV that can transport my gear without having to strap it to the top. So if I fold both the second and third row of seats down and move the front passenger seat as far forward as possible, about how long is the space? 7 feet? More?
@@gatesurferI'm just guessing here. The back half of the car (up to the pillar) is a little less than half the length of the car. So maybe just a bit over 7 feet. Perhaps if you moved the seat up and got the load a bit diagonal, you might get 8. But 7 seems like a good working floor number.

Check out the Kia K4 they just released. It's not electric, but we imagine it will be pretty soon!
China
They have to sell a lot of the profitable cars (SUVs) before they can design the less profitable ones. The electric sedans currently available in North America consist of the Ioniq 6, Polestar 2, BMW i4, BMW i5, and Mercedes EQE
Isn't there a larger tax credit for SUVs or something
Or a nice stationwagon. I don't want a landyacht, and I don't need 24 seats. But it would be really nice if I could fit a sheet of 4x8 OSB with the rear (60/40) seats folded down. And to be able to fit in a regular EU-sized parking space without having to be a 40kg thin contortionist to get in or out, yeah that would be really great too.
When will normal sized car evs come that don’t suck?
When the battery technology advances. Until then look at a Hyundai Kona EV 2023 (not 2024) if you are looking for a compact EV with a nice range and very fun engine.

Does the rear brake light turn on when you're in single pedal mode? A lot of cars don't do this since regulators don't require it, but I'm not trying to get rear ended in poor visibility conditions
In the US there is no legislation for it, but EU has pretty strict rules that say that after a certain deceleration rate threshold, brake lights need to come on. If we take Hyundai Ioniq 5 (that is on the same platform) there is a chance that it might not come on in US under certain circumstances unless they changed something in the meantime. Technology Connections made a video about that some time ago.
When you're using the pedal regen braking function, do the brake lights active when you start lifting your foot off the pedal?
I hope they fixed that by now. Still would like to know the answer.

Seperate front and back hvac is genius. Cars usually have only 1 or 2 people in the car the vast majority of time.

it has been an absolute joy seeing alex find his voice and becoming more and more excellent with his reviews. this is one of his best ones yet. very informative, fun and not too dry even though its very information dense. love all your videos, but especially the car reviews. keep up the good work.
PS:
one of the only things i would suggest is can you guys do a DB meter on a standard road for electric vehicles - like what is the quietest the EV on gravel to asphalt section. i find that many EVs skimp on either sound dampening or there is random wind noise. I drove the volvo polestar thing for work for a couple weeks and the wind noise was atrocious! My boss comutes in his Hummer EV and says that there is a windy stretch of road between two mountains where the noise gets really high pitched and almost whistles. i didn't believe it was that bad until i drove with him once and it sounds like an office chair going full speed downhill....
Does this thing come with acceleration triggered guitar riffs as standard or do I have to pay more for that?
Lounge mode makes sense in an electric vehicle because you will sometimes be waiting at a charger for 15 to 30 minutes or whatever.
I love the ev6 so much
That’ll be 95000€ (105000 USD) where I’m from. Nope.
If you ignore the high price, high maintenance and uncertainty as to if the battery can be repaired let alone replaced it’s great
Don't recommend i-pedal or anything like that, it doesn't activate the brake light until you're almost at a complete stop, so vehicles behind you don't know you're slowing down to stop until the last second.
That's not my experience. Deceleration will trigger the brake light
@@rcoundon on select models yes but most of them won't, there's a RUclips I watch who went over this and even showed how his brake lights won't turn on until his ipedal comes to a complete stop.
@@tourmalino3205 I don't know where you're from but in the EU and UK there are directives that cars much adhere to in terms of the level of deceleration that results in brake lights coming on, it may be different in the US. In terms of other regenerative braking options, it's a similar situation to downshifting in an ICE in order to use the gearing/engine braking to slow the car which doesn't result in the brake lights illuminating.
Yo the seats look AWESOME.
I've seen quite a lot of Kia EVs here where i live and they look really good.
It is on the E-GMP platform same as the EV6 so charging will be 350kW (240kW actual)
Question: Will the handles manage to slide out if you leave the car out in a freezing snowing winter night or will they freeze thus preventing you to enter the car? And you should test this with every car that uses some stupid electronic crap for the doors instead of a normal mechanism.
Will the handles work at -20 C with a ice layer ?
Again, thank you guys so much for the frequency analysis charts in your car reviews. As a certified audio nut (and studio recording engineer), I *love* that stuff. I've generated these graphs for every car I've owned in an attempt to tune things, and my friends always think I'm crazy.
I got to see this at the Columbus Auto Show, and honestly it won best in show IMO. The only 3 manufacturers not present was BMW, Mazda and Tesla. All the new cars on the road, this hit me (and the Ioniq 5). I’m an Audi fanboy and would go with this EV9 over a Q5/Q7 equivelant. But I hear there’s a Q6 EV on the way, soooooo. :p
I'd probably never use the third row, unless I stuck a couple of 5 years old back there. It works for me.

I really wish there was an option to get the smaller battery in the higher trims. Other reviews have noted you are penalized in charging rate and speed for going with the larger pack. You are NOT getting those 10-80% stats even in the best of conditions, and it will charge slower than their true 400V architecture like in the Ionic 5.
