Ionity Passport Power £12/mo, then 35p (ish)/mWh. Did nearly 2200 miles around S.France and Italy in July, £120 in charging! EV6 for the win 😊

To make the road tolls easier get a “Bip & Go”

100% would have been nice to fly through the tolls - but with these challenges it’s not knowing the details that make it harder.

    Charging prices are unreal!

Average was around 50-60p per Kilowatt Hour at service stations, where I saw the fuel prices pretty high as well. Home charging with Octopus Energy is so much cheaper.

Struggling with this, 580 miles on my 7 seater diesel Euro 6, cost would be £57. No stress , safety of another 160 miles left in the tank. Zero fill ups on the trip, cost me £12500 to buy 6 years ago, lost about £4500 in depreciation. EV9 is slightly larger and a faster 0-60 (rarely needed) are the only positives I can see for the driver.

Yeah if you mainly plan to do long road trips then EV is not the right choice. There are scenarios where EV is a good choice, like when you can mostly charge at home.

So my total fuel costs were £135.24 - which for a return trip I didn’t think was too bad. If I had time to charge at home at the beginning and my hotel had a charger it would had been cheaper.
This version is equivalent to a 7-seater Discovery Sport which would do around 40 mpg so not much difference. The less sporty version of the EV9, the Air, will do around 350 miles which is probably the version most would buy.
The charging prices at service stations are were high though - but they are falling. Home charging is MUCH cheaper.
Aside from speed, the drive was far smoother and obviously quieter than a diesel. And if you like to be seen this car stands out on the roads.
But yes I still think we have a way to go until the majority see electric as a viable option for long journeys . But if you do this in a more relaxed way it is not hard at all. It was the 48 hours that made this a little more stressful 😂😂
