I am just starting on my 2006 Mustang GT....extreme amature...I ordered the same air intake you have...but need to get a tuner but have no idea how to use one. @@nickjames3569 Depends on your desired outcome. I don't do track days, quarter mile times, or street drags. I want my ride to look good, sound better, and be fun to drive. So, I've added Pypes high flow cats and the Ford Performance Hotrod cams, but that'll likely be the extent of my "performance" mods (until I can afford long-tube headers).
I thoroughly enjoyed the creativity, deversity, and clarity in this video. You've got a beautiful S197 GT; you're more than merely inspiring some of your subscribers. Best of luck to your future upgrading agendas; I'll be along for the ride, undoubtedly. Keep up the excellent work.
I like your car. Nothing wrong with that engine at all. I would love to have one. My dad had a Porsche928s that only had 280 hp. It was built in 88 and that thing was an amazing cruiser.
I love seeing 05-09 s197 builds man! Just saw both of your videos and I just want to let you know that your video quality(video edits, camera angles, video information, etc) is great! As your first video, this looks like something a RUclipsr who'd have years of experience with 500k subscribers would create. It is amazing what you created here! I know this channel will grow within a matter of months. As for your modifications; those were perfect for Stage 1. First mods should always be what you showed us in this video. I saw your google sheet and I must say, you are heading the correct direction. I would suggest Ford Performance 4.10 Gears as well, but perhaps you have a reason behind not upgrading them? I am just curious, maybe a gear upgrade will not work with your future mods or something. Let me know, I will happy to hear from you back, bro. Greetings from South Texas!
Really really appreciate your comment. You're exactly right about the gears, once I get the turbo installed, I'd be rowing thru the gears so quickly w/ 4.10s that the car wouldn't be realizing the full benefits of forced induction. I remember seeing a comment by nola504boy1 who experienced this issue on his Mustang. If I were looking to build an N/A drag car, I would defs go with 4.10s. The overall goal is to make this stang really well rounded... eventually. Again, thank you for the feedback.
Great Video, really enjoyed the structure and the idea of various stages in the way you have it documented. Hope the other videos of the various stages are done as well.
I really like your vids! I wont be going the 700 hp way, but your initial bolt on mods are good. Keep us informed. On run two, u would have gone sub 6 but for the wheel hop. My 2008 GT was doing that until i got BMR rear upper and lower control arms amd frame mount. Hooked up better.
If you want a real throw you back in your seat feeling, 4.10 are an option. I put them in my 2006 GT and it takes off. You might lose some top end speed though, but it's not very much, and the 0-60 pick up is worth it in my opinion. Again though if you prefer top end speed over quicker acceleration, then you could go 3.73 or stay with the stock gears. All in what you want out of your car. Sick ride thought. I like the set up. I put long tube headers and an X pipe, with Borla Stingers and it sounds amazing.

Thanks man! These comments go a long way for me, sure appreciate them. At least in Miami you are at sea level, but yes we have some challenging roads up here in the Sierras. Still looking for a camshaft that provides just slightly more lift and duration, because I've read that at my altitude large cams can destroy performance below 2k rpm and cause the car to often die when idle. Also 100% definitely going with boost. I'm in the middle of editing my next video, dropping next week. Thank you for subscribing.
I had no idea that was your first video, you put it together very and the commentary was spot on. It's nice to see a mustang video by a guy that isn't a D-bag
I drive a Coyote. I like this a LOT. The engines change over time but who is to say that one isn't good? They're all awesome and were designed with these intentions in mind. I LOVE a built mustang! This guy is doing it right and thats why we've all got this reputation. NICE CAR MAN! Okay now I want one. You really can't have too many of these. I think you're too down on it dude.
Nice man i am working carefully on my 06 stang gt since 3 yrs.. choosing parts and building the engine after studying and reading about stroker engines.. my project will be custom twin turbo it should put arround +800 wrhp..
That A-Spec Acura TL at 24:10 though. Lol. Super sick build man. I just found you and this was the first video I've watched. Can't wait to get caught up. Great production value and the 3v is definitely one of the best sounding V8's ever!
Looked at your build sheet. Head porting is not necessary with forced induction. I would however invest in a decent set of turbo cams. Also with the on3 turbo kit it requires you to remove the front sway bar which will drastically alter your handling characteristics. Not 100% sure if the sway bar relocation kit helps.
I didn't know the sway bar had to be relocated / removed, will have to look into that. As for the heads, combustion engines are basically big air pumps, the more air that goes in and out, the more power. But you're right they're not necessary to exceed 700whp with FI. I am aiming to break 400whp before boosting, and to do that I'll need less restrictive heads. I'll address cams in the next video. Thanks for the comment.
Szakara GT will let you know from experience it takes a lot of $$$ to break the 400hp n/a. Do your best to prep for boost. Fuel system, if you decide to go Centri blower (Vortech, Paxton, or Procharger) do headers and exhaust. If you decide to keep with the turbo route invest in a good set of turbo cams. You won't gain much n/a but it will be really efficient under boost. Any questions just hit me up...
Nice to see someone else staggered wheels at 18 and 19. This is exactly the setup I'm planning to do. Is it 19x10 on the rear? I'm torn between 10 and 11. Probably go with 10, just cause it keeps the weight of the wheel lower.
Awesome video thanks your video s help me with my 05 GT mod decision I agree with you there lacking alot of power when they made the 07 5.0 coyote after
Must be nice having all that money for all those mods! GIVE ME MONEY TO MOD MY SHIT! hahaha sick ride bro! I love the quality of the video! and the content is pretty dope keep it up!
Quality video, I'm interested to see what you can get out of that 3v since most do an engine swap for that kind of power. I do have a couple of suggestions however. In the spreadsheet you mention forged internals in stage V. If you go that route, it would be wise to get a forged 5.0 stroker kit, unless of course you want to keep it at that displacement so you can say you have a 700hp 4.6. Also if you're putting that much power in the car, might want to upgrade the breaks sooner rather than later. It's one of the things often overlooked when building a fast car. Looking forward to see what you do with it.
Something about "five-oh" really rolls off the tongue. I think I am going to go with this: www.modularmotorsportsracing.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4_7_54&products_id=354 I'd love to upgrade the brakes, but for a really bamf set, they are as much as boost. But I'll definitely go overkill on them at some point. I have my eye on these Brembos: www.carid.com/2007-ford-mustang-brakes/brembo-gt-series-2-piece-curved-vane-type-iii-brake-kit-45042907.html?parentsubmodel[]=SUBMODEL|GT
Good choice. 5 liters will give you a bit more to play with to achieve 700 hp. There's no replacement for displacement. You may also want to consider the Ford Performance hot rod cams. I've seen other 3v builds with these and the sound is incredible. About as close to an old school v8 sound as you can get with a modern engine. It will really compliment your axle back exhaust and they're good for +30hp on a stock engine. I would wait until you upgrade the heads before fooling with cams though. No sense in pulling the engine apart any more than you have to. There are also much cheaper upgrades you should do first that will yield more gains. Here's a link to the cams: www.americanmuscle.com/ford-hotrodcam-0509.html?Engine%20-%20Camshafts%7CFord%20Performance&AMM%202005-2014%20No%20Years&T5_Var3=blue&T5_Var4=24073&intl=0&gclid=CPnizPmemdkCFbabswodqYAPmQ&gclsrc=ds
Good video, but do you want to be spinning that much on a launch when crunching the numbers? It also sounds like you're shifting hard instead of smoother. When going through harder turns its always helped me to shift smoother, it's also way easier on the clutch. Great video, looking to watch some more!
Just bought my dream car. .A bone stock one owner low mileage 2006 mustang GT premium. Torch Red ...black leather 5 speed....this was the poster car for Car and Driver and Road and Track....I paid 12.000 usd out the door ...its alot of bang for the buck....but performance wise it is easily out-classed ....but if you go back in time to 2004 this car was super huge news and the first real step in the right direction for the mustang outside of some of the special edition new edge mustang like the mach 1 or Cobra terminator....I will be doing some light mods....as 12.000 did take a hit to the wallet....but excited this generation is still alive and well in spite of the coyote stangs

No sense in pulling the engine apart any more than you have to. There are also much cheaper upgrades you should do first that will yield more gains.
Here's a link to the cams: www.americanmuscle.com/ford-hotrodcam-0509.html?Engine%20-%20Camshafts%7CFord%20Performance&AMM%202005-2014%20No%20Years&T5_Var3=blue&T5_Var4=24073&intl=0&gclid=CPnizPmemdkCFbabswodqYAPmQ&gclsrc=ds
Good video, but do you want to be spinning that much on a launch when crunching the numbers?
It also sounds like you're shifting hard instead of smoother. When going through harder turns its always helped me to shift smoother, it's also way easier on the clutch. Great video, looking to watch some more!
You never seem to mention the brand of wheels. I’m looking for that kind of style, just in 18x9.5
The first thing you should do is put 4.10 gears in the rear end , I got more out of that then anything else
People forget the praise this pony received in it's heyday. It revolutionized the pony cars- it brought back the Camaro, Challenger and charger from the dead. I have an '06
Great video. Keep up the nice work. I'll keep following the page👍🏻
How the hell do you only have 124 subs?!?!?
Wow he gained 10k in one year
in the beginning... with the sun glasses on, he looks like Dax Shepard. kinda, sorta.
good video btw, gonna watch the whole series now!
gen 1 coyote build would have been insane
