Fellow 3v owner here...Since you’re gonna be adding boost, get cams that are made for it. Also since you wanna go fast I would recommend coilovers simply because an air suspension system would add more weight

It definitely might be more "efficient" to slap the CAI/full exhaust + a turbo/blower and get a light custom tune to get closer to that right off the start. But at the same time I wanna "grow" into the car, and just really have all the supporting mods on it first anyways and throw a forged shortblock down the road as well. Plus it might be cool to try and go for 400-500rwhp N/A with a shortblock and bolt ons + a custom tune before a blower. Pero whatever I'm rambling, great video man!
Nice, was going to go more bolt on with mine, but decided to go with a Saleen SC, best decision I've made, I've got 80,000 miles with the SC and loved everyone of them, 425RWP 420FTlb
Great videos. Keep them coming. You are getting wheel hop - need better lower control arms (BMR is budget friendly, J&M are really nicely made, I went with Steeda Chromolly steel). The lockout (missed gear) you are experiencing is in part from movement of the drivetrain. Some urethane motor mounts will help there. You can even get a urethane kit and redo the stock and do the trans mounts. If you go with a new shifter, which would be a great idea - get the MGW or Barton. MGW is simply the best and many folks that have tried others end up adding a MGW down the road. Air suspension is for looks - decreases handling and drag abilities of the suspension. Cams are tough as you final goal must be in mind or your will spend twice. Lots of folks do the FRPP Hot Rod cams - which are designed to work with the FRPP intake, throttle body, heads, and a set of headers (without those, only top end gains, loss down below and improved sound). Brenspeed Detroit Rockers are better street cam - no loss of torque but not as high a gain, good sound. Better choices for power gains would include Comp Cams 127200, Cushman Cams, or a custom grind from Anderson Ford Motorsports. But cams choice depends on drivability desires, willingness to change springs, and final build goal - turbo, supercharger, or N/A... Good luck
Just to add a little about the good info above that will eliminate the lock out you are experiencing ,doing the urethane mounts alone are good but wont eliminate it from my experience but a good place to start because the stock mounts are horrible what really worked along with them is something you usually don't hear about and that's the ( K- Member Brace with Torque limiters by CHE ) cheperformance.com Part # CHE7L $179.00) Takes care of the excessive drive train movement and is easy to install and stabilizes the trans so your shifts wont be affected . I have this set up on both my S-197 - Roush and on My Shelby GT-500 - This took care of the lock out all together in all my situations of abuse - along with the urethane engine mounts and a Barton shifter just my preference the MGW is a great shifter also these are the only 2 shifters I would really recommend for the S-197 .The Barton is just a little stiffer while shifting, something to keep in mind when deciding . The MGW is closer to the stock feel easier to move between gears but they both will do the same job - again going to be personal preference . Hope this helps !
Don good information, however I'm failing to see anyone who has done the FRPP cams actually gain more top end power verse the Detroit rocker cams NA grind, can you supply any evidence for this claim? One thing I do know for sure is Brenspeed doesn't publicly release there camshaft profiles. From the extensive research I have done myself (own a 06 gt with cams and frpp bolt ons) I am aware that the cam profiles of both FRPP and detroit rockers NA are very close.
IMHO, if you really want to eliminate the shift lockouts w\ the Tremec TR3650 trans you need to install a Blowfish Racing Remote Shifter bracket to make any TR3650 shifter on any S197 a fully trans-mounted shifter to eliminate the shifter shaft binding due to the shifter being remote mounted (meaning the front section of shifter is mounted to the transmission but the rear section of shifter is mounted to the unibody so when the drivetrain flexes under load it tends to "twist" the shifter assembly causing the shifter fork shaft to induce a side load which will cause the shaft to "hang" or drag during shifting). Using a heavier built shifter (like the MGW or Barton) will help w\ this but the Blowfish Racing Remote Shifter bracket will eliminate this entirely as w\ this bracket installed the ENTIRE shifter assembly is physically mounted to the transmission & it moves w\ the drivetrain eliminating ANY shifter fork shaft binding during shifts. I have 1 of these installed on my '09 Stang using the stock shifter & it's worth it's $299.99 cost in spades as I don't miss any shifts. Combine this bracket w\ a Barton or MGW shifter & you've got a winning combo. This bracket also is a fully NHRA-certified front driveshaft safety loop when installed. Love your content and commitment to the 3v. My wife and I recently picked up a well-maintained 2006 GT Premium. It has 208,000 miles on it, but I could not believe how well maintained it was. Opening the hood, you could eat out of the engine bay. I got lucky and found one that had been taken care of my the prior owners, and I got to know the history of the car. The last owner even turned out to be a family friend on my maternal side, so he knocked a thousand off! It's bone stock with Flowmaster Outlaw series exhaust, and I cannot believe how well it pulls, even with so many miles. Wish I had your skills and resources!

I’m impressed. At sea level that thing would be pretty quick, but I recommend getting a short throw shifter to get rid of the 2nd to 3rd issue. I have a 2017 3.7 and have the same issue 😂 I’ve always liked the 3v most people dismiss them because the 3.7 v6 makes the same amount of power. Nice to see that motor getting some love.
I have an 03 Grand Marquis and was actually looking at getting a 3.7. They seem like decent motors and I would love the power boost and fuel efficiency boost combined.
You really need to do Lower control arms and relocation brackets. Will greatly improve your acceleration. Lowering the car without the relocation brackets puts the LCA geometry way off and when you launch the LCA's will actually make the tires break loose instead of plant into the ground. Will be a good comparison for the 0-60 and 20-80. Will help with grip for shifts as well. Its a great compliment mod. If you want power you need to beable to put it to the ground. Also look into KW coilovers. Better option IMO. Well any corner carver will say that. Great vid. Looking forward to the next. Subbed
Love the intro man. I’m about to throw on a Ford Racing complete handling pack on mine this weekend. I have similar mods on my 07. Now you have me considering removing my intake manifold.

After using an under drive pulley kit for 5 years, I finally reverted back to the stock pulleys about 2 months ago. I began monitoring vitals via Torque Pro about 3 years ago and noticed that my operating temps in heavy stop/go traffic in the summer would routinely get above 215 with no AC & 240 with the AC running. I live in the OKC area where its commonly hits 90+ with 70%+ humidity starting in June ~September. During the cooler months normal operating temp no AC would be about 200 and 210 with AC. I've upgraded to the GT500 cooling fan, replaced coolant pump and replaced degass bottle cap. So far with the stock pulleys re-installed my operating temp no AC has is about 192 and so far with AC the peak I have seen was 206 (we hit 92 with about 60% humidity a few days ago). Keeping my fingers crossed that I continue to see lower temps in the peak hot/humid season. Certainly hope to keep it well below 240.
Your videos are great man. I miss my 07 I had a vista blue gt jba long tubes off road x pipe and ford racing exhaust with blow by racing stage 1 cams on a crappy tune it made 330 hp to the wheels not to bad. Was a fun car.
I considered doing this exact upgrade on my natural aspirated 05 saleen. The parts are around 2100, dyno tune 900 and labor 600. I decided not to chase hp and remove the OEM parts because it would decrease the collectors value. The Saleen is factory tuned for 93 octane combined with shorty headers and aluminum drive shaft I’m happy with the low end torque at 320hp now. That intake and throttle body are beautiful though!

Take a look at Suspension Techniques XTA Coilover setup. Affordable -about $1300ish but they have a yearly sale that knocks $250 off that, engineered by KW, rides well, and has rebound and height adjustment.
Good numbers on the dyno, well put together video ! this just backs up what my butt dyno told me lol. Lost torque gained top end power with the frp manifold.
CLPATTERSON Same here, but I used the Steed delete plates. Can feel the reduced torque at low end, but that hit at 4000 rpms is fantastic. Almost didn't use them based on the video about the Ford Racing manifold, but since I already had the tune made for them I put them in and have no regrets.

Love the videos, keep em coming, the production quality is off the charts. I have FRPP cams with a full exhaust set up and FRPP intake in my ‘07 Shelby GT and it’s an absolute beast. Looking forward to see what cams you pick.
I like this fella. Beautiful car and build man. Awesome video work too. It's no wonder you've gotten so many views. Bravo! I love me some Mustangs!
Dang, love your vids! Your 4.6 is becoming even more boss for a 4.6. Love that thought process!
I did same thing you did with my 2008 bullitt , only changes were mbrp exhaust , bbk headers / hi flow cats , ford racing intake , ford racing throttle body , ford racing cams got me 380 rwhp !!! I also did aluminum drive shaft , exedy stage 2 clutch and light weight flywheel ..
Next i did vortech vs3 super charger install which was awesome by the way , but now when its all said and done i did everything ass backwards should have did the motor 1st but it only had 30,000 miles on it so i wanted to wait .. not a smart move on my part .. anyway great looking car keep it up ..
Wow 380 whp that's impressive.
380 is kinda unbelievable for those mods w a 3v
Awesome vid! Nice to see the 3v getting the attention it deserves
Been waiting for this update video for so long, this is honestly my favorite series
Just watch the video, love the progress. My suggestion if I may, get yourself a shifter so you won't miss them gears. Keep the videos coming.
I’m looking to get a 4.6 3v and you give me a lot of insight and ideas on how to do mine. I think the 3v is under rated cuz nobody wants to build them they just rather get a coyote swap. I like to build wats available to me at that moment.Thank you so much and keep up the good work.
Nice car man, looking forward to following the rest of the build.
Wish I had your skills and resources!
thanks ryan. by the time ford came out with this mustang, they had been building modular motors for about 15 years. they are super reliable and rarely have issues. i could see them getting to 300,000 miles w/o a rebuild.
@@Four_Eyes I’m going to drive it responsibly but still allow for some fun. I will also make sure that regular maintenance is done. Life is short and we never know what tomorrow will bring. I waited 17 years to get another GT, so it feels great! Thanks for the reply and the awesome channel and content!
Absolute awesome editing bro your videos are really top-notch .
Production off the charts dude! Can’t wait to see how the 3v comes along as well as you channel and subs. Keep it up Four Eyes.
Excellent videos! Good info and entertainment with good production. well done sir! Currently building my 2006 3v so really been helpful!
Awesome, Clean looking car. I like the way your mods keeps the car looking like a mustang should look.
I really appreciate how in-depth you go on your videos it would be nice to hear about your tire size rim size and suspension you should definitely make a video
Badass opening! Great camera work I’ll be keeping an eye on your channel!
The dry sense of humor kills me. lol. Keep em coming. It interest to see what the 3v do
IRS some time down the line?
H1GHD3FF I feel that removes a part of the Mustang's soul. If I can't tame the live axle with supporting suspension parts... maybe one day.
I too am on the road to 700 with my 99 cobra 4v. Stroking and boosting it right now. Good luck. Hope to see you out there. Keep the videos up man I've been following since day one
Yo the vibe and rolling shots in the beginning were so freaking awesome. I literally immediately subbed, liked, and favorited. That’s what I love to watch
Thanks man 🙏 Those are my favorite shots to shoot.
post more 3valve content !! content are so good ive binge watch all of your vids 3 time already. keep up the good work!
I’m not the biggest fan of the looks of the 05-09 Mustangs, but your car is changing my mind, it looks sharp! Great videos!
Thanks Ron ✌
I was hooked as soon as you gave the break down for the video lol. He stated EVERYTHING I would want to know 🤣
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Good job man! 👍🏼
I immediately clicked on your video when i saw the Mustang.
1- A cool 3V Mustang build.
2- I like your Enthusiasm.
3- I like how detailed and organized you're in explaining your build.
Definitely a new subscriber here.
I even downloaded the Excel sheet (if you don't mind?), I'll keep it in case i bought me another 3V Mustang, i unfortunately crashed mine 💔
Thank you, and keep it up brother ✌🏼
Thanks dude!
Hey man own a 2007 gt myself. Have gone this road and its been fun and frustrating, i have a pretty fun suspension set up, i have the koni yellows (they are adjustable) because this thing is my daily. I tried the bmr handling springs absolute crap recently dumped those springs and put on the H and R sport springs i love the ride height and the feel. Car handles like a dream. I would stat away from eibach i have done a fair amount of research and talked to several local mechanics regarding their product and they all have told me to stay away, they all recommend H and R stuff and it is a solid recommendation in my humble opinion. Love your channel though wish I would have been able to see these videos 10 years ago when i got my ride so i could have avoided a few of the mistakes i have made. Have fun speed safe!
Great info!!!! I have a 67 Ford Galaxie I wanted to do a coyote swap but that will set me back a few in terms of getting the car completed I came a across 2007 GT motor and tranny with only 1500 miles for $2500 and runs great was a lil skeptical but after watching your vids I think it will do fine for a year or so.
That car weighs like 4000lbs. It will be Crown Vic slow.
I ended up buying a gen 2 coyote.
@@cedbiggs145 still going to be slow as dog piss. Should have just looked for a 6.2l Raptor engine.
Hmmm ok.
Great video once again. Been waiting for it and it was worth the wait. Very informative and a big help for my future build. I'm interested in knowing the years that were having overheating issues with the under drive pulleys. Looking for the next video already on the road to 700!
i like watching these to gauge what i should add to my future car
thank you for the excellent videos well worth the wait
I can’t wait to get mine back!!!! Think mine is at 500rwhp or about there. This video makes me want to build mine even more now.
Thanks for doing the R&D for so many of us 3v owners out there.
Thanks for watching man 🙏
I am currently an owner of a 2007 GT/CS, working on my build and following this has helped immensely! Do more videos!
Definitely in the works, dropping either the 14th or the 15th for sure.
@@Four_Eyes Awesome cant wait!
Your videos are excellent quality man. Way better than any other mustang channel honestly. You should have way more subscribers
Have an 08 and don't want spend outrageous amounts of money.I will use the info at the end . Thanks
and in the end you will spend outrageous amounts of money we all do. it starts with some tail lights then head lights then exhaust and rims or gearing oh then super chargers and it just gets worse and worse. Don't fight it just go with it cause it always wins
I had a harley and spent thousands on it
Great stuff bud! Getting great ideas for my 09 gt c/s. Can't wait to see the upgrades for stage 3.
Love your stang. I went with Comp Cams stage 2 thumpers, can't go wrong, my 05 GT sounds like a funny car did 345.97 hp 329.86 mt
Wow, that's good numbers. What are your mods besides the cams?
Love the series! 2008 GT/CS here. Go bagged suspension for looks, go coil-overs and suspension geometry correction for handling - up to you.
Dude! Your videos are top notch!!!! Love your excitement and love for your car! I am in a process of builing up my short block. Goal is 650rwhp on d1sc procharger! All supporting mods are there built trany, built suspesnsion some 555s and other bolt ons. Cannot wait to finish mine and cannot wait to see the end result of yours!!!!!! Keep it up 3v brother!!!!! Little advice not sure if you have done it or not.Next time you do pulls turn off all your accessories and ac, turn the traction off. Also which tires are you running? Your car looks sooooooo gooooooood!!!
Also, what trans did you get?
It has been rebuilt by a local transmission shop, rated to 1k horsepower. It has all the properties of the 5R55S street fighter. Here is a link of it www.cjponyparts.com/5r55s-street-fighter-transmission-1200-hp-gt-2005-20010/p/TRANS28/?gclid=CjwKCAjws8vaBRBFEiwAQfhs-LgJr7Xla-71ObnNx3B0WbvUSZUwqovEizqpb7_vZu-7WDXAKePjwBoCTG4QAvD_BwE
Great video loved it, just got mine back from the bodyshop same color as yours but I just got the spoiler painted black! Can’t wait for more videos!
Don't get air ride due to complexity an added corner weight. Go with coilovers like BC Racing or Pedders. I saw a lil wheel hop on your 0-60 times so you might want to address that.
I saw that too, I'd recommend upgrading the suspension in the rear at least.
Well done, young warrior! Another superior video, thanks!
great video and attention to detail. look forward to seeing you around Reno. friend has an 05 gt SC I want to buy. keep up the good work
Huge fan of the series. Love your style. Very similar to my favorite gaming youtuber, Nakey Jakey. Keep it up Four Eyes 🤙🏻
F*^k it being a mustang…. This is the best actual car tuner channel on RUclips. Hands down. Wow.
Loving the progress man, keep it up
Good video. I have a 06' Tungsten Grey as well. Just added an Edelbrock E-force, still sitting in the shop...
Always excited to see how your build is coming along man. I have the same year and you have a lot of the same mods I plan on getting in the future.
I've had my UDPs on my 05 GT for 3yrs no issues
You gotta upload more this shit too good🔥 I wish I had the money to do this for my 3v
I work to build, wish I had more time to shoot / edit. One day.
I'm keeping mine stock and adding complete Shelby cosmetic upgrades. This video is excellent though and in the future I definitely will consider what he said at the end of the video for performance upgrades. Very informative video, best on youtube.
I have the same parchment leather Premium Deluxe interior. Did your door panel fabric need replacing?
Very nice and tasteful mods, keep up the good work bro.
Subbed
Amazing, I’ve been your videos multiple times, I love them
Love the intro man. I’m about to throw on a Ford Racing complete handling pack on mine this weekend. I have similar mods on my 07. Now you have me considering removing my intake manifold.
Just started watching your Chanel. I have a 2015 gt so a lot of your content does not apply to my car. I gotta say I really enjoy watching your videos so I subscribed. Looking forward to more videos.
thanks dude appreciate the comment
Don’t forget heat management like header wraps and gold taping. Also you should throw in some 4.10’s
Love the Stranger Things vibe!
Good shit brother. Was wondering then this was coming man, glad to see it here!
This car is timeless
I have a 3v 2010 and done a build on it and tunes a friend does and does a lot of data logging and changes things around and pick up some hrs power, I have the ford racing intake manifold did take of the throttle body spacer still have factory throttle body with cold air intake jlt 3 series with the mutha Thumpr cams did do big springs and keepers with jba ceramic long tube headers and jba pipe with borla catback atak axle back exhaust, with coilovers, 1st gear I can get up to almost 40 and 3 up to 120 still working on it thought sexond gear isn’t as good as 1st and 3rf
Awesome series! Really enjoying it. Thanks for sharing! 😁👍🏼
Excellent video work and fantastic editing. And, of course, beautiful mustang!
Nice, no BS 3V video!
PS love/jealous of your hair (bald S197 owner here)
haha thanks dude
Was you 4500 feet above sea level also when you did these dyno tests?
Dope! Enjoyed watching this! Can't wait for the next stage.
Dude, love what your doing. Ive been saving and searching. Im splint on a 3v mustang or a mach 1. Might go with a 3v on main premise that i wouldnt want to mod a mach 1.
I don't even own a Mustang. But good content and very informative. I myself have a sweet 1970 Pontiac Firebird 400 and 1989 Chevy Camaro RS. 🤘
HOLY SHIT FOUR EYES IS BACK
Led head and fog lights I recommend highly they look so good
Just traded in my s197 but these videos are beyond great. Keep it up 👍
Thanks Christopher, what did you buy?
Another great vid bruda! Power numbers are outstanding. Coil over is a good idea. Can't wait until the next vid. 👍👊
Thanks man
Amazing video, own an 05 gt with an edelbrock supercharger. Good to see someone building a 3v engine while most videos are about s550. I do wonder what rack and pinion you replace for you 3v since I might looking to do it soon?
Take a look at Suspension Techniques XTA Coilover setup. Affordable -about $1300ish but they have a yearly sale that knocks $250 off that, engineered by KW, rides well, and has rebound and height adjustment.
Very good points, I'm seeing the progress. Keep up the great work like always, bro. 👍🏻👍🏻
I agree, the stock manifold is best with delete plates.
