Did you retune your car after installing the headers?
This is a really good question, so I am going to pin it. I actually recorded myself talking about this, but like a total dork forgot to include it in the video. Bama did send me a new tune, but my car just gurgles and burbles for a few seconds then dies. Bama instructed me to datalog, but it is kind of a PITA as I have to hook a laptop up to my car and do some controlled revving and driving. So in theory, I am not realizing the full potential of the current configuration as I am running the tune that came with my Airaid CAI.
My plan is to do the datalogging and then get a custom tune locally once stage 2 is completed.
Szakara GT Thanks for the reply. I’ve been considering longtubes and Hot Rod cams as my next two big mods. I agree that I wouldn’t want to use a mail order tune for big mods like those.
About the bamba tune, does your cold air intake have a plastic airflow restrictor in it? The tunes are not made with the restrictor in mind and they fail to mention anything about it in their instructions. Take out the plastic piece and run the bamba tune it will work great. Bamba customer service troubleshooting is very good as well.
Yeah, I wouldn't waste your time with the Bama tunes. They don't really know what they're doing. Like you said, their "Race" tune is just a couple of degrees of timing and the throttle map is cranked all the way up. Not only that, but their tunes are dangerous. One of my local tuners told me that he dyno'd a car running a Bama tune and it was super lean, like 16:1 or something. It's a wonder that guys car didn't blow up. Personally, I'd find a good local person to do it, or at the very least a reputable tuner like Lund Racing.
CaptainRedHat Same goes for SCT on the 5.0 the tune is very lean on cylinder number 8. A lot of horror stories with blown up engines running SCT.
It's hilarious hearing those car alarms go off! Great build!
I love it!!!!
dude i love how as soon you started the 4.6 car alarms rang 3:15
As much as I LOVE my coyote, and the way it sounds (2013 car) I just love the way these 4.6's sound! The coyote seems to be more raspy whereas the 4.6 has more of a low rumble. Love the car man!
Can we all appreciate that on all levels when you started in the garage alarms were going off.... love it!
4:55 straight up looks like a video game loading screen lol
I can't wait for this series to be done, as the s197 is my favorite generation of mustang. Hopefully you will blow up and be able to afford more car parts from ad revenue, and do more projects.
This is my hope as well. Maneuvering to increase my output.
The intro of this video and quality of your other videos are incredible. I'm hoping to get a 3v soon here so I'll keep an eye out for you in the future
Ha! Set off some car alarms with both cold starts! Sounds great! I have an '06 GT myself, love this car so much! Keep up the great work and I'll be looking forward to your future videos!
I absolutely love the changes you have made! Your car sounds so exhilarating, I can only imagine what it FEELS like sitting it the drivers seat. I have an 06 GT Convert..same color and it still makes me smile, however it is still stock.
I feel great watching your content... your energy in them is infectious.
Your videos are some of the best I've seen for cars! You've spent some serious editing time and that's very much appreciated. Keep making these great videos and setting the bar high.
Thanks man, really appreciate that.
Fantastic quality of vids, especially for a new channel my man. I'm a big fan of how you include pure driving footage at the end. I'm planning on building up my '08, so this is a fun series to follow.
Thanks Nicholas. My soul lives in the last minute and fifteen seconds of this video.
Your channel has the content quality to deserve 1,000,000’s of Subs
Love your vids! I’m in the process of putting on my Mac long tubes, going to order my procharger in feb. looking forward to your stage 2 vid. Keep them coming...
You’ve got yourself a new subscriber here. Top quality videos and majorly informative as well. Gotta catch up on the rest of the series now.
Love this car build keep it coming
Props to you man, perfect example of an exhaust video 👌🏼
Thanks man
No problem! Do you have cats?
Yeah, here's the setup: www.americanmuscle.com/kooks-header-catted-xpipe-0509manual.html
The videos are so high quality and can shame bigger car you tubers! Keep up the good work. Just subbed!
Dude the 16yr old metaphor is so relatable. I just got a 2012 v6 stang, i know its slow but i enjoy driving the hell out of it
Love your work dude! I have a 2006 gt with the 5 speed manual and the Ford performance cold air intake and whatever tune they put on it in the shop. When I finish school I want to mod the crap out of it and make it scary fast. Can’t wait to see future videos man.
Your videos are very high quality, great work!
Great quality vids I had an 07 gt premium I bought new Sold it few years ago Can't wait to see you unlock your 3v's potential. I'm currently building a 12 gt 5.0 for the track and hopefully should be near 300 whp on my 14 3.7 6 banger after installing my ported manifolds and updated tune. I look forward to following your build Keep up the great work
Only recently ran across your channel so this is 4 years late but damn, long tubes sound GREAT. Mean & nasty. 👍🏼. Channel is excellent, subbed instantly.
Had to hit like when the car alarm went off
On my 07 gt I have longtubes and an off-road x pipe
Except I don’t have cats and I have borla ataks
I'd be setting off all the alarms if I had that setup.
Yo can you post a vid on your channel of that setup I really want that setup but have no idea what it sounds like
Like always your videos are well put together and enjoyable good luck with the stang
Thanks Oscar.
Keep it up man! The subs and views will come.
Love watching this build! also love your brothers white 1le, have a red 1le myself! ;)
Eagerly waiting for your new video! Can't to hear all about the new Stage 2 items you've installed!
Appreciate the patience. Last part arrives Thursday.
Sweet! Question? With adding the headers and x pipe does your check engine light kick off?
Yeah mine did. Still needs a proper tune though, which I will have done once I install remaining stage 2 parts. If it keeps appearing, I'll shut off the rear o2 sensors and just run straight pipes.
Another great video, bro👍👍
Stang sounds crazy good! I have Flowmaster Outlaws with stock headers/midpipe but I could imagine mine sounding this good!! Thanks for the video & keep the vids coming! Greetings from Brownsville, Tx 👍👍👍
Thanks man. I think LT headers + Outlaws would sound meaner than mine since Pypes are kinda mild.
Szakara GT you can always sell the pypes & go flowmaster..there are some good clips here on youtube with outlaws & longtubes..search "nolaboy mustang" & his setup should come out.
What a class act. Will be using your information on my 2010 sport trac adrenalin tune and air intake from Brenspeed so far cams next.
I love the car alarms going off LOL
Yeah I switched from pypes to slp loudmouths and it's the best you can get for the 3 valve in my opinion, you'll love it!
Hey man I love your video quality...great editing skills and looking forward to the next stage. You make the 3v gain a some cool points coming from a coyote guys point of view 👍🏾👍🏾
Car looks awsome! Need to upload more🤣
That was a fantastic video. Think I am now sold to step up my axel back system.
Glad you think so, my second video ever 🙂 You'll love headers.
I peeped your mods list. Looks like you're planning to pump over 26k into this project. Scratching my head on this, however it is something many want to see. So, this is what determination and dedication looks like.
Indeed this not an efficient build. If I were doing this solely to get maximum performance for minimal cost, I would just install a supercharger, headers, and coilovers. That should come in around 10-12k and would make for a pretty badass three-valve. What I am doing is not advisable.
Thanks man I appreciate that!
Your car really sounds great.
Do more please! Your mustang is bad ass man
the sound is gnarly
Just commented to get an x on your old vid!!! Didnt see this. Hell yeah man.
Ditch the cats man. Cats restrict power and amazing sound. Just get it inspected under the table.
4:56 the birds flew away😂
Great Video Quality and great choice in parts! I love it. I just put LT headers and aftermarket H pipe on my 07 GT. However, I have some flowmaster axelbacks that look like Flowmaster American Thunders. Not sure what they are. I've been considering straight through Pypes brand axelbacks, but it seems everyone is doing the weld in m80s. What do you all think?
What happened, stage 2 please. I love the s197
The car alarms had me laughing my butt off! Definitely louder than mine now haha. This is really good work
Love the car and nice work on the videos.
You should do installation clips, but great vids! Subbed 👍🏽
I'll give it a try and see how boring I am. Thanks for the sub and nice stance on that hawkeye.
Setting off alarms in the garage. Nice
I don't know your background, so I don't know how much you know about mustangs. I noticed you don't have anything about a shifter in your build list. The shifter in these cars is mounted to the body rather than the transmission, so up at high rpm when the trans is rotating a slight bit, you can get locked out of gears. If you haven't noticed it already, you will when you go boost. The best shifter you can get for these cars is the MGW. You can mount it to the transmission rather than the body with the Blowfish Bracket (obviously for the 3650, they make them for other years too).
I'm looking forward to the build, definitely subbed.
Also, Bama fucking sucks.
I have noticed this and have been attributing missed gears to poor shifting on my part. This is exactly the type of information I am looking for, thank you. I updated the build sheet with what I think are the correct parts.
As four eyes said
Thank you I thought it was either an issue or bad shifting
Always locks me out high rpm from 1-2
Good tip sir
JayGT good looking out man, great info
Ready for more vids
Man you run that little puppy hard sounds great
The Longtube headers with the Axel back gives this 4.6L SOHC 3V Modular V8 a real glorious sound.
Man I miss Reno! Love your vids.
Thanks D C ✌
Awesome channel wish you had more content 🥲
Awsome love those rims as well👍
You produce some very HQ video content! I am buying a 06 GT same colour as yours. Very useful info!
What amazing views!!! Lucky you lives there.
Love what you're doing, keep it coming. One question, on your quest for 700+ horsepower will always remain a 3 valve or will you be doing a complete motor swap at some point? I would love to see you make the most with a 3 valve. Coyote swaps have become the new norm. Which is cool but I would like to see a solid 3 valve build.
The internals will be swapped with MMR's 5.0 Stroker kit. So, it'll be a 3v block stroked to 5.0L with forged internals that should be able to withstand 1,000 crank horsepower.
Four Eyes sounds good. I'm locked in to witness this great build.
Good videos 👌🏼
Sounds super mean with everything on it
I have an 08 GT i bought new in 09 i put ford racing FR500S mufflers on it right after i got i havent heard any other stang in person that i thought sounds as good as it does
Really like tour vide for 3v Community... BUT if dont see any New Clutch kit and diff mods ?!
Dude that's what I'm getting next is the Kooks Longtubes with X catted midpipe and driveshaft. I said the heck with the Ford Racing Manifold and Throttle Body. I don't want to lose any more down low-end torque because of mods. I heard you lose a lot with the manifold and throttle body. However, you gain it back on top. I don't care about up top. I'm not racing anyone. After this it's paint, shifter oh and I forgot I'm adding with newest purchase lower control arms. Thanks for your videos.
hi, did you run into any issues when install the one piece driveshaft, I noticed you have the eibach sportline springs on, any adjustment or parts needed for pinion angles?
I am building A 2008 GT500 Certified pre-owned , So I think I am starting with an advanced platform, the stock powerplant is a big advantage as a starter rolling platform 22750 miles on the clock.
Ford Performance KR tuned suspension, HD rear stiffener, adj .panhard bar w/ relo bracket/ Shelby rear shock tower brace, Roush custom powder coated Heim joint lower control arms. Powerstop drilled and slotted rotors, EBC redstuff pads. FR500 lower control arms to handle wheel hop.
Fluidyne racing radiator, JLT 127MM carbon fiber mass air flow/intake tube , L&M 66MM throttle body 1200 cfm and a tune to match, 170° t-stat, oversized intercooler reservoir, dual pass Afco heat exchanger for the intercooler. HRE 890R 19x9.0" x HRE 890R 19x10.50 " , Eagle F1 Supercar 255/40/19" Eagle F1 Supercar 285/35/19". Ford Performance stainless touring mufflers (Borla).
I have been collecting parts for the next stage this winter a new take-off 2014 TVS 2.3L supercharger, Ford 55lb injectors, Billet Pro Shop oversized ported elbow, with a 2.4" overdrive billet pulley. KR short throw shifter.
I am @ 650 to the wheels now on 12lbs boost, Should be over 750 after the supercharger install, I have a buddy that built his and he is making 18-20lbs of boost, dynoed to 704hp and 678tq, up in the mountains where he lives. I am following his recipe for my car
I had my car 4 wheel thrust alignment done to the "KR" specs and it drives like a different car, very planted and predictable, realized the Goodyear F1 are the weak link in the suspension, to hard and slip out of the corners like wet road, Nittos or Toyos are in the plans now.
You have a nice build going, always liked the S197 platform, guess so I have two of them 2012 GT Premium, when the model changed, I put a gotts have one on my list.
Keep building and you will get there, 700 is going to be a big number for the 4.6l, the bottom end is going to have to be bulletproof. Put a big clutch on your list , you will need it along with plenty of fuel to feed it, the GT500's run out of fuel at 5200 rpm or so. C'ya, oB
I need this kind of budget!
Noticed your avatar is a sick picture of a 2013+ Ram 1500. I have a 2012 Ram 1500 Express Quad Cab w/ the 5.7L Hemi. Love that friggin' truck.
I just got some sick MBRP axle back muffler deletes. Should Of been factory. Very mellow at idle and below 2k. Screams above 4k!
Still sounds great though
What size exhaust pipe?
AWESOME VIDEO, I SUBSCRIBE ,MAN I 💙 THAT SOUND OF THAT MUSCLE CAR 😅😅😅😅🚗🚗🚘🚘💨💨💨
Awesome video. The car really woke up with the long tubes. Are you ok with the idea of the long tubes blocking up the starter and making it a tighter area to work with. I want to go with long tubes and get rid of stock headers but hesitant. Keep up the great work. Looking at your list , it's definitely something to go by.
I did not know this was a consequence. The team who works on my Mustang did not express any concerns (to me at least). The owner said he was impressed with the design and quality of the headers, but I will forward him your question. And thanks for the compliment on the video.
Im wanting to 3v swap my 98 gt and am wondering, with the 2v pcm not being vvti compatable will still have similar numbers with your same mods? Also is the mmr 5.0 kit harm reliability?
4:52 Dude scared the birds
See my question is my car is stock if I did this would I get this exact experience or would it be little less cause damn that sounds good !!!!??
i had this same setup on my 06 gt but i had to change it the pypes axle back and kooks long tube headers with catless down pipes were just way to loud for me
I’m a huge fan of your build! Question, did you get a check engine light after installing long tube headers, high flow cats, etc...? I have a stock 07 GT and I’m thinking of doing full bolt ons.
i did, you'll need a tune since the O2 sensors will get tripped. Bama, Brenspeed, and Lito can all provide email tunes (you'll need an SCT Tuner to install the tune).
@@Four_Eyes thank you so much for the reply and I’ll keep that in mind 🙏🏻
Add 4.10 gears to your build list, i didnt see it on there... BIG jump and youll notice the difference. I have the Shaker 500 model so i had 3.55s in it.
I am putting on the shorty headers and an xpipe with Mbrp muffler delete axle back. Should be obnoxiously loud!
LMAO @ the car alarm! :DDD
He set off 2 cars too lol
So i'm waaaaaay behind in catching up on this channel. What is the display thing on the dash?
I like how he does not get caught with doing donuts
What are your thoughts on Borla Atak exhaust?
Hi, awesome channel. I’m looking to do what you did to my 09 Bullitt, stage 2 is what I’m aiming for.
Do you still have the link to your parts list up? Can’t seem to find it.
Best, Brian
Thanks Brian, here it is: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hVIZx8W_6PMGEG0bqVcpb3FUmJhsc5FHKiF8nt7t1EM/edit?usp=sharing
Thx a million, you saved me tons of trial and error , and putting on and replacing aftermarket parts that don’t work.
Kudos for being the lead dog, and sharing.
We NEED stage 2
Barring my death or car getting totaled, I promise it'll happen. Thanks for the sub!
How bad was the drone with the long tubes compared to axle back at highway speeds
Love the build, Did you get a check engine light after installing the LTH and X pipe. I have an 07 GT daily and want to get this setup. Also does anyone know if you will pass inspection with these being high flow cats?
I did get a CEL after installation - was good after getting a dyno tune. Inspection depends on state, Nevada is pretty chill.
I’m gonna give it a shot It just sounds too good not too, hopefully I won’t have any problems in North Carolina. For horse power and torque gains will cams or LTH be a better first upgrade, I only have a JLT and tune currently.
I like your Video . . . Stay Frosty All . (Sounds Great )
Make it 27 Subscribers. I Love The look of those Taillights But $450 Dollars!? I just wish they were more affordable. Because they will be bumped to the top of my List. Instead of "Somewhere" on my list. But more importantly is that they are on it! Love your videos there are funny, informitave and a witty editing job!
Crackles like mine, but more. Mustangs have a distinct voice.
Do you have any rasp with this set up?
Brendspeed sells I nice built lower end block
Haha 26 to 1.8k and growing :D
Now 17k
Very Beautiful car 👍
My dad Has the exact same car as you its on 07 mustang gt with the 4.6l he has a shift kit on it and a 2.5k stall, me n him ran a 1/4 I drive a 2010 camaro 1lt v6 and he ran 13.6 and my v6 ran 13.8
I looked at your build schedule but I didn’t notice camshafts, do you not plan on camming it?
A glaring, but intentional omission. Couple mechanics told me cams can be finicky at high altitude (dying while idle, chunky acceleration at low RPM, etc). Rather than finding a good set of N/A cams now and then having to find another good set of cams after boosting, I think I am going to add them when the car is nearly complete. Good question and is worth covering in the next video.
What is your suspension setup?
Does the mustang sound better with the high flow cats?
Quick question, I notice you rev up a lot into the red, are your internals forged at this point? I feel like my car burns up a bit when I push 6k rpm
They're not. Shouldn't be an issue pushing above 6k now and again, the stock cams are mild and engine's not making a whole lot of power.
Isn't it just glorious not to live in California a place where our next law will say you can only drive your smog device saturated cars every other day. Keep it coming young man, I love it.
Thanks Gregg. Yeah, considered moving to CA a few times... just can't do it with the taxes, laws, and super high property values.
@@Four_Eyes Hey, you are smart, stay out of California and continue your build, you are doing a great job.
