I thought about doing exactly this but was reluctant (afraid that I might damage something in the process...) to do so until I came across your video and all the associated positive comments on how well this procedure worked to clear your oiler. I do like the suggestion to use diesel instead of regular gas both from a safety standpoint and from a lubrication standpoint. Thanks for taking the time to share this solution with THE WORLD!!!!
For 2 years. I was afraid to take my 29 year old chain saw apart. (no parts) This solved the problem. Fantastic. Both, the manual. And, auto oiler are working.
Yea I just cleaned mine out by spraying carb cleaner into that oil port and its working great now ....but your idea sounds great too , might have to do that every once inahwile just to keep that oil line flowing ...I have a husky 445 .
I tried this. Guess what? After sloshing around some lacquer thinner inside the oil reservoir, I poured it out, then stuck an air gun inside the reservoir opening to dry out the thinner and hopefully blow out any remaining trash. A shiny piece of something blew out and settled to the floor. I picked it up. It was a large piece of one of those round foil covers that you have to push through when you open the cap on a new gallon pail of bar and chain oil. It must have fallen inside the reservoir during a fill-up. I went ahead and turned the oil dispensing screw on the bottom of this Echo CS-490 all the way to the left just to be sure the chain is getting properly lubed. Thanks so much.
Awesome thanks! I've rinsed my oil tank out with gas but never ran it. My saw started burning the bar the last time I used it and I found out it wasn't pumping oil so I cleaned it out and still nothing cleaned it out again and used motor oil and it came out but not as fast as thin oil should but I was afraid to run it with gas in the tank not sure if it would eat the plastic components of the oil pump
Gonna try this on my Husky 455 tomorrow--sounds so much smarter than the youtube video the guy from Texas did. But I'm really curious about your accent--where are you from?
Used this procedure on a Echo 360 which had stopped oiling the blade, resulting in a jammed nose sprocket . I firstly sucked out the emptied oil tank using a wet and dry vacuum. Then I filled the oil tank with white spirit, as opposed to risking gasoline, and revved it until the spirit appeared. Emptied oil tank again and let it drain for an hour to evaporate any residue of spirit. Running the machine head without the chain the oil appears to be feeding through, so we shall see when I've lubed the sprocket. A jamming sprocket was the thing that started me off on this. I'll let you know if it works.
Wow... that is a nice sounding chainsaw :) I imagine that once you get the bar and the chain on there you'll have the whole orchestra going LOL Thanks for posting the video!
It should have the resistance the chain provides when engaging the clutch ends up moving the chain. To little resistance will over rev it which is a bad thing
by putting gas in the oil tank - may harm the pump - ( no lube ) But with the oil that is left in the tank gave the pump enough lube . Diesel fuel or sea foam is a great idea !
+MrIgarkz I have the opposite problem. Same type of Echo chainsaw, but the oiler is POURING oil out. If it's runnings the oil sprays everywhere, and if it sits, the oil drips out of the bottom. Can you recommend a fix?
I just put gas in mine and washed it out but didn't dare start it with gas in the oiler. Then I come to the net and see this. Still ain't going to start it with gas though. Uh uh.
My Echo 650 has auto oiler, not as good as pump, but easy pull clean and fix. Blade is at max 24" size and oiler needs a few 10 seconds between cuts to load bar with oil. Pump is better, my saw is good for landlord on large lot
wish me luck.. just came home with new oil pump and she still doing the same thing.. no oil.. its clean hole is clean..bar is clean.. so what the heck.. watched lots of video.. and i think i am going to put a little gas and marvel mystery oil in it.. and hope i don't catch anything on fire.. fire chief is my neighbor.lol.....but.. have a question maybe some one might help here with.. suppose i need a gear or something else replaced.. when i got a new oil pump.and what about spraying with some carb cleaner in oil tank and not running it.. too flammable?.
Clean with gasoline? Well O.K. 'Like solvents dissolve like dirt.' Makes sense to me. Could use Marvelous Mystery Oil [MMO], WD-40, diesel fuel oil, or gas.
Seafoam is good stuff for cleaning anything related to gasoline engines. In this case, if you don't have Seafoam, I bet kerosene would work, but haven't had to try it. Yet. Good video! I'll put this in my memory chip.
I tried this, then my chainsaw caught on fire and burnt the tree down. Saved me a ton of time! Thanks!
I had tears from laughing about the tree dilemma. Guess I'm not the only one with buzzard luck!
That was funny as hell bro.
KABOOM😂

I was depressed about my chainsaw, but the music really cheered me up!
My saw makes me well up from time to time. I get a little if , if , if while crying. But I love it just the same.
Yesterday was a frustrating day. Saw your video this morning and read comments. 5 minutes with diesel did the trick. Your blood's worth bottling.
New chainsaw owner.. found this, tried it, worked like a charm, took ten mins, thanks man!!
Dude! I wish I could buy you a beer! I did this for my Husqvarna 450 Rancher and it worked like a charm! Appreciate the video, thanks a million!
For 2 years. I was afraid to take my 29 year old chain saw apart. (no parts) This solved the problem. Fantastic. Both, the manual. And, auto oiler are working.
I tried it and it works perfect now. Thanks for the great tip. The shop wanted $100 to fix it.
my old 50 did not have an adjustment screw- this procedure worked PERFECT. GREAT VIDEO.
Worked great, was dreading taking the clutch assembly apart to get to the oil pump and line. Thanks!
noticed this was a husqvarna 450, they have automatic oilers, I had to bore my pump out to 1/8" that helped more in addition to your procedure
Great idea. I used a mixture of PB Blaster and SeaFoam instead of gas. It cut through the clogging gunk in a few seconds. Thanks.

Fixed mine with gas. Worked perfectly. No issues, saved me the hassle of repair!

I had the same thing going on and it turned out the little worm drive was to thin looked ok but I replaced it any way going good now
Gonna try this on my Husky 455 tomorrow--sounds so much smarter than the youtube video the guy from Texas did. But I'm really curious about your accent--where are you from?
That worked brilliantly. Wish I could buy you a beer!!!!
I used diesel. Worked perfectly. Thanks for tip.

thanks..this did the trick on my partner chainsaw that was totally blocked...the process took about 20 mins in all..i used petrol
Worked a treat, many thanks.
I have a 40 volt saw that is not oiling. That is why I am here. Are the oiling mechanisms the same on gas and battery powered ones?
You done and did it, you made a great video bud!!!! I did exactly what you did, worked great, I'm back to work!! God bless you!!
Thank you for this. I was about to throw mine away, and it's been a damned work horse. I tried air, shop vac, pressure washer...nothing. This works.
YOU ARE A DAMN GENIUS!! YOU SURE SAVED ME A LOT OF GRIEF. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This worked absolutely perfect for me,problem is fixed at last 👍
Wow... that is a nice sounding chainsaw :) I imagine that once you get the bar and the chain on there you'll have the whole orchestra going LOL Thanks for posting the video!
I'd recommend diesel. Not as dangerous and also won't be as big of issue with harming the bearings.
BIGAIR303 :: name 1 single bearing that would come in contact with the fuel coming out of oil pump!!
diesel, K1 or #2 heating fuel with some mystery oil is much safer and does just as good
Jim Facteau : True but if you want to make an interesting RUclips video something gotta blow up
Where do I buy guessoline? 😅
Great video... Thank you for posting. I'm calling it guessoline from now on 👍
It should have the resistance the chain provides when engaging the clutch ends up moving the chain. To little resistance will over rev it which is a bad thing
It's a husqvarna 450 man. The only cure is to carry a 1 gallon bucket of oil and dipping your bar in it.
Worked perfect on my old husky 35, my orchard saw, thank you.
by putting gas in the oil tank - may harm the pump - ( no lube ) But with the oil that is left in the tank gave the pump enough lube . Diesel fuel or sea foam is a great idea !

Matt Hess you will need to replace the Oiler.
You can try the oil adjustment screw.
Worked a charm, thanks for the tip!
Thank you. I tore everything apart and still couldn't get oil onto the bar. Tried this trick and within minutes had oil on the bar and chain again.
I expect varsol would work as well but is less dangerous.
I did it but there was less gas coming out should I do it longer?
Thanks so much I got to go buy a new chainsaw because mine literally melted the cover right off works great line was clogged up like crazy
cheers mate, worked first time!
Tried it and it worked. Thanks a lot 😁
Thx bro i tryed it and it worked u saved me so much money great vid
I just put gas in mine and washed it out but didn't dare start it with gas in the oiler. Then I come to the net and see this. Still ain't going to start it with gas though. Uh uh.
Thx, I did everything on my Remington and your soul ur ion solve my problem, thx!
I will give it a try..................by the way that's interesting chainsaw music you have there.
thanks for the tip!

Chains are so expensive that it is wise to get the oiler fixed asap. I hope this does the job.
I tried and it worked! Thank you
thanks. going to do this to my old 55. but im going to use diesel instead of gasoline! :)
Is this song the Teletubby theme? Good info though. Thanks.
Awesome just did this and it worked your video really helped
How much did you get that saw for
lobdsk for about $100
About 50ml 2 stroke did the job, thanks MrIgarekz
;)

Most carb cleaners are not flammable.
I think the fuel would destroy the rubber parts.
Vert helpful worked a treat
Should i take diesel or? Someone help
Over years dirt may clog oiler, Good tip, Diesel fuel is safer
That's ah lot of loud tinker bell music you"re playing it drowned out you"re voice couple times.
Petrol too dangerous I have tried kerosene but as yet not working!!!
Awesome tip you the man!
GREAT TIP
Clean with gasoline? Well O.K. 'Like solvents dissolve like dirt.' Makes sense to me. Could use Marvelous Mystery Oil [MMO], WD-40, diesel fuel oil, or gas.
I would recommend SEAFOAM . NOT GAS!!!!
b. whittaker Thanks I tried it and it worked ,I have had problems with this saw from the day I bought it always with getting oil to the chain
David Day same thing since I've bought it,
Use the seafoam cleaner directly in the oil compartment or just for cleaning by the oil output to chain? Thanks
Seafoam is good stuff for cleaning anything related to gasoline engines. In this case, if you don't have Seafoam, I bet kerosene would work, but haven't had to try it. Yet. Good video! I'll put this in my memory chip.
Damn I think this will work on mine thank you
91% RUBBING ALCOHOL IS A EXCELLENT DEGREASER.
Maybe so, but where do you get 91% rubbing alcohol? Can't even find 71% anymore.
Apparently a children's music video with some barely audible muffled talking in background.
Your next video illuminate the music it’s very distracting for want to listen to musical turn on the radio.
Great music
Im having over heat with my chainsaw ill try your way and ill let you know soon
Thnx
been two years. How did it go?
@@casade5skis well i guess my "soon" take more than 2 years 😁😁😅
@@khajmi lol how did it go?
@@upthesaturation i forgot who why what's the subject 😂😂😁😅
@@upthesaturation im joking it went fine actually 👍🏽
sorry for the delay 🙏🏻
This is chain shaw repair video, but I cannöt anderstand why the Music Concert !
Kerosone of Diesel are safer than gasoline
Gasoline.. I thought this was going to get fun.. :)
Is that J Ray?
The music needs to be way louder.
That is a great deal
Sounds like a fire hazard. Diesel would be safer
Must try er
I'm going to try tgat
thanks, mine caught my x-wife on fire- no more child support payments! maybe I shouldn't have started it on her while she slept.....
