My 365 does NOT leak any oil at all! To be fair, it doesn't supply enough oil to the bar either lol that is the reason why I am here. Thanks a lot for the help Donny!

Great job on this video! 👍 Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge. Alot of folks will benefit from watching this. Another great way to put the e-clip back on the crank is to put the clip in the groove and then put the 19mm end of your sqrench over the clip and use it to put the clip the rest of the way on. This captures the clip and keeps it from flying off and getting lost. Especially in the woods. Wish I could put a Husky 372 clutch and drum on the Stihls.
Fantastic video! You do a great job of what to do, why to do it and things to look for. Great ideas of suggesting what to replace when its all apart. This is an invaluable channel for me. I greatly appreciate the time you put in to these videos. Thank you!
Thank you im learning every thang I can about the. 372xp I can from general maintenance to porting to squish you Name it that way when my 372xp comes in this week I know how to do everythang to it little knowledge like this Could save a 200 doller cannon bar and chain Thank you for educating us 🇺🇸
I'm real happy I found this video, was getting ready to tear down my 365 special to see why it leaves a little puddle of oil anywhere it gets put down until you said they all tend to leak a bit. I'll just make sure there isn't any cracked hoses or glaring issues and if not I'll run it as usual but with little to no bar oil for storage. Really appreciate these videos, definitely going to stop by the shop to pick up some spare parts and a few other things in a couple weeks when I'm on the island
When I built my 372xp, last year, I had to reduce the oil flow of the pump by a small amount. I have never reduced the oil flow on my Stihl saws. I set the 372 to about the half position. I run a 24 inch bar on my 372.
Hi Donny, Thanks for the great video! I have a new to me, 372XP and your video has helped me a lot so far. I seem to have excess oil leaking out of my feed hole. I have a puddle under my saw after a couple of hours, so thinking I may have an issue with the pump or something. When I last used the saw, I also noticed that the oil was getting VERY hot which I think was helped by a bad chain. I hope I didn't damage the piston. Any ideas on the excess oil leaking from the feed hole? Thanks in advance!
I have already commented on one of Tinmans videos and I'm gonna keep trying....I'd love to see Tinman,Ironhorse and Donny Walker get together and setup a competition....pick a saw all order the same saw doesn't matter if its neotec holzfforma or whatever....You all build the saws and meet up and race them...seeing some you guys bullshittin and chirpin one another and sharing your ideas with one another would be really interesting
@@stevenlaxton3618 We should start a petition, add John's Custom Saws to the list and call it the unlimited power saw build off. And for an unbiased test send all the saws to Project Farm, now that would be an event for all saw nerds. Only rules should be that it runs on pump gas and appear stock from the outside.
@Ray Duerksen I was thinking let them come up with their rules cc limit? Specific bar size? Random brands in the same rules or they all start with the same base??? Lol figured let them fight that out. But I like the unbiased review at the end
why couldn't oil tank venting be accomplished with a small drilled hole in top of the tank, under the muffler, plugged with a small cotter key like the older saws were outfitted? I checked on the vented caps you referenced and it looks like about $17 average. Nice video with lots of valuable instruction, thank you.
On the old Still 090 gear drive that I have, the cotter key breather will drip oil when the saw is turned on it's side when cutting. I drilled out the hole and put in an insert with a hole in it that holds a short piece of tubing with a screw in it. No more leak.
Yes all saws are about the same Stihl’s if you check oiler gear the metal wire on the the plastic gear can spin and not make gear turn oiler properly or can be plugged up with crap 🪵👍
Hi there, would the blue medium strength tread lock loctite work good enough to seal the two oil pump screws? I have that at hand and would rather not buy a specialised sealant for these 2 screws... the price for the little bottle is crazy!
The worst Stihl bolt to remove is the rear bar screw on the 029 series of saws. Stihl uses, according to my information, green Locktite. Green Locktite is a permanent version of Locktite. You usually have to use heat to break the bond on this Locktite in order to remove the cylinder from this model of Stihl saws. I usually use blue (252) but on any part that gets hot I use red Locktite (271).
Maybe you can help me. I have a 445 that is not oiling the bar. I have replaced everything pertaining to the pump and the oil screen inside the sump is clean. There is no adjustment for oil feed on this model. I pressurized the oil sump and it blows out where the oil tube goes free and clear. The bar oil holes are clean as is the chain guide around the bar. From what I gathered the oil sump is not vented BUT my only clue is that with the oil pump assembly completely removed, and the saw laying oil pump/clutch side down on the bench, no oil flows out of the hole where the oil hose goes - until I open the oil fill cap on top at which time it flows freely out the bottom side. My only other clue is something called a duckbill, could this be the problem?
HI DONNY I seen chainsaws Leake bar oil most of the time U can a old aniteefreese jug and cut the top out and set the saw on the jug that way bar oil will be all over the floor what a mess and U catch the bar oil until U get the oil Leake fixed or if U don't use the saw 4 a main saw all the time OMG 1 24 2O23
I bought my Husky 372XP brand new and it leaked from day 1, I love the saw but it makes a mess, so I try to run it out of oil when I put it away. None of my small saws leak and I have a 41xp that I bought in 97" that still runs great with God only knows how many hours are on it
Best chainsaw repair presentation from a very knowledgeable man. Very precise with a lot of extra tips for easy installation. Thanks!!!

Master class from Walkers! Brilliant timing as I was fighting a case leak from behind the oiler on my 365. The o-ring was missing. You're the man!
Awesome video and information. I will use it to figure out the lack of oiling on my old 2100.
Coming over from Buckins channel…. Keep up the good work! Love it so far :)

Can I just say your videos give me the confidence to strip and rebuild my saws thanks so much 😘
Thanks for taking the time for this. I am in NH with the oil leaker for two years. I started to look at it and baulked the other week ago.
I was going to try and remedy the leaks but gonna focus more if its oiling ok or not ,know what you are saying on the leakers lol
Outstanding lesson, Donny! Thank you! 👍
I think Husky's are like Detroit diesels, they always mark their territory and if they aren't leaking then they are out of oil lol
Another awesome video Donnie Walker thank you for the great information
Thanks Nate
Tha ka for this Donny I need to get some extra clips and washers and sprockets. You just reminded me.

Thanks for the information man , say hi to shelly and the fozz . Cheers man. 🍻
Donny, the 390 oil pump is a drop in part. No modification is needed and to anything and then you’re good to go! 😉😁

Hello Donny!!!
Thanks brother nice 👍 good people
Great video. Will that part number for vented gas cap also fit a 2005 3:59?

Good video ! Is a Stihl about the same ? I have an old 029 that doesn't oil properly sometimes

I just got a 390 with oling issues. i think the tube is sucking air
How do you replace the duckbill and the oil screen inside the oil sump?
