      Das exakte (!) Einmessen nach (durch die Software geführter) Anleitung macht einen deutlichen Unterschied zu den lediglich manuellen und (demgegenüber eingeschränkten) Einstellmöglichkeiten auf der Rückwand des KH 750 DSP (exakte Phasenkorrektur, Raumeinfluss, Frequenzgang). Manuell konnte ich das auch mit größerem Zeitaufwand nicht nachbilden.

    hello Neumann, how does this MA-1 calibration software differ from general monitor/room-correction software like SonarWorks' Reference 4 ?

    • @GeorgNeumannGmbH
      @GeorgNeumannGmbH  Год назад

      Hello there! Anywhere Neumann’s Automatic Alignment is a dedicated tool for stereo sets of DSP-based KH-Line monitors with or without the KH 750 DSP/AES67 as well as two non DSP-based KH-Line monitors connected to the analog outputs of a KH 750 DSP/AES67 subwoofer. Unlike conventional correction software it is an integrated solution with novel algorithms, jointly developed with the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits (IIS) specifically for Neumann studio monitors. No plug-in or special audio driver is required: Alignment data is stored and processed within the DSP-powered monitors resp. the subwoofer themselves. As a unique benefit, the software not only optimizes the amplitude response but also optimizes the phase. This provides highest accuracy in terms of tonality, impulse reproduction and stereo localization. Also, none of the other solutionsworks like Neumann’s MA 1. The software’s golden algorithm is much more sophisticated, analyzing room conditions instead of simply aligning the system to a unified flat response. The MA 1 also considers the internal parameters of the Neumann monitors. No other software has access to this information and can therefore align a Neumann system in such a good quality.

    This seems like a great product! Just one question: Is there a way to just download and store the individual correction for a particular M1 microphone once and then use the software offline from that point on?

    • @CirclesandSounds
      @CirclesandSounds Год назад +1

      From what I gather, it’s all stored in the speakers’ internal DSP, and any changes you desire to make you do in the app hooked to the speaker. The Ethernet connection is LAN (local area network) only and is used to connect to a computer, so ignore the conspiracy theorist below who is (hopefully joking) or knows nothing of IT. 🤦

    • @flyingsquirrel3271
      @flyingsquirrel3271 Год назад

      @@CirclesandSounds In order to start the app you need to insert your serial number so it downloads the calibration file for the microphone. My question was if I could use the software offline after that has happened once and if there's a way to obtain and store that calibration file offline for the future so properly using the measurement microphone and the app for adjusting the crossover/dsp locally does not rely on some servers anymore.
      Of course the communication between app and sub happens locally but the protocol is proprietary, so if the app refuses to work without talking to some servers, you can't use it locally anyway. Apart from that it would be pretty bad if you coudn't obtain the calibration of the measurement mic you bought in order to use it with different software.

    I recently purchased the MA1 and carried out alignment of KH80’s at the weekend with good results!! However, I am about to receive further acoustic treatment for my back wall in the form of two bass traps and so I wondered whether I will need to carry out the alignment again? The listening area remains the same and will not have any further treatment but I wasn’t sure if I needed to repeat it with the addition of back wall treatment? Many thanks

      Normally you would need to re-calibrate the monitors even if you moved a piece of furniture just a bit as it can have an impact on the overall result. If you did a significant change (something that results in more absorption or more reflection) i.e. adding treatment, adding a sofa or removing these things, you have to re-calibrate.

    According to the video, audio interface sample rate should be set to 48khz for the alignment process. After audio alignment is complete, I can disconnect the LAN from the speakers, leave the kh120ii switches in "network" position? I assume I can return my audio interface sample rate to 44.1khz and work as I normally do? Any info would be appreciated.

    Hi! How are two KH 750 DSP subwoofers to be connected when using digital BNC connectors? Daisy chain through subwoofers, T-connectors with termination (like word clock) or discrete digital stereo feeds where other carries left and other right channel? The connection diagram in manual isn't very specific of this.

    • @GeorgNeumannGmbH
      @GeorgNeumannGmbH  2 года назад

      Hi, good question! Daisy chaining AES3 is not supported by the KH 750 currently, so T-connector with termination would be the preferred, most economically feasible option.
      In the unlikely scenario this would not work reliably, using two AES3 outputs would be an alternative, albeit involving higher cost.
      If you would want the subs to reproduce only L or R you would need just the relevant signal on the respective output.
      We hope that’s helpful.

    I want to be able to choose which measurements in which specific order I will do. E.g. I want to be able to make all 3 LPs at the beginning and e.g. the step 2 as last measurement as there is an obstacle for which I need to adjust the whole mic stand for. At the current conditions I have to perfectly adjust the mic stand 5 times. It could be just 3 times.

    • @GeorgNeumannGmbH
      @GeorgNeumannGmbH  Год назад

      Hi there! The order of the measurements is not relevant except for the first measurement that needs to happen at the listening position. As long as you following each spacing and direction guidance for one measurement, you will get the same results from any order of measurements 2-7.

    • @chrisjakob25
      @chrisjakob25 Год назад

      @@GeorgNeumannGmbH thanks for the comment. I am however not sure if I understood correctly what you mean. The first measurement needs to be at the LP, all the following can be switched around as long as I keep direction and space -> that would mean I still need to follow the steps in the given order, doesn‘t it? As step 2 is X cm to the left when facing the speakers, if I do it to the right instead I wouldn‘t follow the given direction anymore

    • @GeorgNeumannGmbH
      @GeorgNeumannGmbH  Год назад

      @@chrisjakob25 Hi! There’s two things that are key: the initial measurement needs to happen with the mic at the listening position and all of the other six measurements need to be carried out at the positions specified, not necessarily the order specified.
      Maybe you’d want to go through the measurement process without moving the mic and noting all the positions requested. You can now shuffle the order of positions so it works with your obstacle and reposition the mic according to your notes.
