Aretha's voice was/is soul penetrating. I was fortunate to grow up listening to her from the 60s until she went to her final rest. May she rest in Heavenly peace.
The album came out in 1972. The video was finally to be seen in 2018, in the documentary of which you have seen "Amazing Grace" & "Never Grow Old". This performance is also included in that documentary, maybe the video wasn't available on YT but it exists and is accessible. Both the album and docu are called "Amazing Grace"
And yes that was James Cleveland, who also played piano in the Amazing Grace performance, threw the handkerchief in the Never Grow Old performance, and taught Aretha piano when they were young.
I know, I feel you,it’s hard to describe Aretha, she hit high notes 🎶 low notes 🎶 at will with precision, you couldn’t tell where she would go next, she is just an amazing singer ❤❤❤I know,I can not speak about her I in the past tense, she was so ahead of her time 👑
i gotta say man me and you started at the same time and i just wanna say man it's amazing to see that you have never changed who youre man always kept a low profile man. mad respect for you brother
I've mentioned this before but I WOULD LOVE FOR YOU TO REACT ANOTHER LIVE RECORDING BY HER! It is with her and Ray Charles on a Variety Show. The song is "Ain't But The One" where the audience claps with the flashing lights to cut to commercial but Aretha caught the HOLY GHOST and missed it. They tried again but she was in her element! It is a terrific performance and it's basically the unsuccessful version of "Spirit In The Dark" that would later become a #1 HIT.
This album laid the blueprint for future soul/r&b/gospel singers, they still using the runs and riffs from this album. Aretha influenced it ALL! It’s crazy how ahead of her time she was with her choices. Her best album VOCALLY! She shined the most in her natural element: CHURCH!
For about 40 years, this was the biggest selling gospel album of all time. It’s still the biggest selling live gospel album of all time. IT’s especially telling, because, you realize that we sang these songs in church, the way Aretha sang them.
LETS BE CLEAR! Nobody was outsinging Aretha is her prime… NO ONE! She was too musical and had limitless range. She is the greatest! I think you’re speaking of is SQAULLING …
Factzzzzz!! I've gotten into soooooo many str8 up arguments because I said exactly what you said. They were bringing up Whitney, Mariah, Beyonce, Patti, Gladys, Barbara and how her voice was trash in her later years and I still said what I said.... None of her peers was seeing her back then in her prime, so we ain't gonna speak on the younger female artist. She was "THAT" POINT BLANK PERIOD
@@rosebuddraper2666 , All of her peers did see/hear her in her prime , all those names you mentioned witnessed prime Aretha in the 60`s and 70`s except Beyonce but heck even Beyonce is old enough to remember Aretha`s great vocals in the 80`s like `I knew You Were Waiting for Me and certainly Pride A Deeper Love and Willing to Forgive both from the 1990`s.
To this day this project is known as the greatest gospel album of all time, 1972 was the year at Temple Baptist, with Rev James Cleveland who was her godfather with the Southern California Community Mass Choir, one of the many choirs he directed, Amazing Grace & Never Grow Old you reacted too earlier were on this project, this whole concert and album was phenomenal, please react to more from this record, I recommend Mary Don’t You Weep the full version and climbing higher mountains too.
