Thank you so much for this information. I have been looking for a company to get what I want without breaking the bank. Using a Chinese company that can send the finished product to their location in Ghana is wonderful 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
@@GhanabaKwaku I pray there won’t be many. My only question/concern after watching all your videos relating to this topic is the maintenance/repairs of the windows due to normal wear and tear over time. Do we have the local expertise to help with that?! Just thinking out loud 😄. I just know 1000% don’t want burglar bars.
This is a good concern and one I have pondered over and over-artisans. Regardless of where I get products for the build, I will have to deal with artisans somehow. My hope is that I can find some good ones to install what I get. When it comes to wear and tear, hopefully that takes a while and when that time comes, I’m hoping people would have caught on service wise. However we also need to bear in mind that if we use good quality, we will not need to worry about wear and tear in the short term.
Thank you, Ellie! If they do it will be more expensive. What I have seen from them is two laminated sheets sometimes with a design spacer in the middle and “Ghana Air” to fill that void.
That probably will need an extra track. To me, not really necessary if you use good glass anyway. The only reason I’m even considering security mesh after settling for the good thick glass over nylon mesh is to prevent access when windows are left open for ventilation. You technically don’t need the security mesh if you will keep your windows closed all the time. Which is also a possibility because good glass means less need for cooling or heating the inside.
Burglar bars are not 100% secure. My mum had it and they still managed to hijack and enter. I don’t like them and don’t intend to have it on my windows. I knew Inter Africa was expensive but boy $31000 is steep. Can’t wait to see how your windows turn up. Thank you for sharing I may take your route as well.
Thank you for the comment, Rosemond! No security measure is 100% fool proof so I would rather go for one that I can live with hence this route. My windows are in production now so please toggle All post notifications so you don’t miss an update!
I dislike burglar proof bars but I'm currently alone somewhere at the Aburi Mountains. Other houses around are somehow far away. Although ppl are showing up by putting up fences around their lands. I'm kinda stuck as to which one to go for.🤔🤔🤔
Please come let us talk. You can do this without burglar bars. Like I told a friend yesterday, we are building tomorrow home today - we shouldn’t keep deploying yesterday measures
@@GhanabaKwaku Bro, I will surely get in touch. I'm currently making arrangements for the funds and doing a bit of research in advance. I'm hoping that your presentation will reach a lot of ppl. The sad thing is, you pay 30 for the price of 10 in Ghana. I was shocked 😳
@everymanisyourteacher9951 ; the world is our oyster, brother! The problem is most of us don’t research or plan ahead - we raise the money for the stage and as soon as we have it, anything goes. I regret not stepping outside of Ghana earlier but I’m glad my research is paying off on my project already. If my videos can stop someone from rushing in, my mission would be a success.
Polycarbonate is good but I believe using them in place of glass for a home comes with some risks. For one, it is highly flammable. How I have seem them used is as an additional layer over glass installations for commercial purposes.
According to searched results, polycarbonate glass is flame resistant. Can withstand heat up to 1166 degrees. It is rated as B1 which means it will not burn in a open flame. And it is self extinguishing.
@@christinemcdonald1943; that is good. Might have mixed it up with some other material’s properties. Outside of the fact that it scratches easily, I think that might be a suitable option to glass.
No lie detected. No wonder we have a lot of uncompleted projects. You start a project with an estimate only for it to balloon 3x within 2 years. Unless you have all the funds to finish handy before you start, you are going to suffer the consequences of no price regulation in the country.

Really helpful insights Eric. Thank you for sharing. I have started looking into this. A. Otoo

I’m not at window level yet but I will definitely reach out to you to show me the way when I get to that stage. 🙏

Wow😂😂😂
Ignorance is bliss
Thanks for the time invested in the research. What about a sliding mesh with locking mechanisms covering the size of the windows just as the glass?
It's possible with the three track sliding system. Either with the mesh in the middle or vice versa. All are possible I believe.

Yeah; tempered glass for both sheets of glass.

Hey Eric, Thanks for sharing your experience. This is very helpful. I will contact you for your links in China.
Looking forward to it. I’m glad this was helpful. The time I have put into it can’t benefit just me.

My thing with mesh does it allow airflow?
It has the same airflow properties of a nylon mesh. So yeah; air flow is not an issue at all.

What about the poly carbonate glass? They sell it here in the states. Unbreakable glass. $90.00 per sheet. Is this glass similar?

Fixed screen doent allow for fire escape
They can make it with a fire escape. Tapco calls those “operable”. They are expensive to have incorporated though.

I'm equally wondering why most people or houses in Ghana have big windows/glasses when it's so expensive. 😊
@@everymanisyourteacher9951 big doesn’t necessarily mean expensive. The type of glass used is what determines cost.
