BCS is changing the narrative

How was the process of getting it shipped to Ghana? The shipping fees etc?

BCS rocks!! Before it formally became BCS, I used them to order a 10-foot double front door and both Eric and Sarah were amazing throughout the process. The door is super sturdy and fit like a glove for the measurements provided. Before going to BCS, get your measurements perfect because this is a build-to-Order (BTO) scenario, they’ll build for you exactly what you want if you know the measurements and can describe what is it that you want. They’re meticulously good at what they do. What you give them is exactly what you’ll receive, so ensure you’re getting the correct measurements. They give you day-to- day advancements of the order and it feels really good to see the whole process step-by-step. I could have bought that 10-foot door from the US but that would have meant paying about $9,000 plus before delivery and shipment to Ghana but with BCS I ended up paying less than one-third of the price when the door arrived at my home The shipping is a whole different game on its own. Don’t expect these Chinese shippers to give you the customer service you are used to. They don’t have time for unnecessary conversation, they go straight to the point and give you all the information you need from the get go. However when things gets unbearable, Sarah is always there to save the situation and reassure you everything will be alright. Before they ship, they’ll show you the package and how nicely they boxed it. You’ll have to pay for the box to use and the shipment to the ship yard but they’ll show you the product on the forklift and inside the container. The shipper I used gave me the CBM and what each CBM cost was. When it gets to Ghana they’ll take the Cedi equivalent which is usually higher than the going market price or Forex Bureau. The warehouse I used didn’t have a forklift at the time and wanted me to pay 2,000 Cedis for an outsider to come and take down my big box. I refused and brought my own people to take it down for less than half of that price. I love my door which is now fully installed and will do business again soon

There is something going on in Ghana now called land banking. Do your research buy clean title lands invest in those lands. I am building in Ningo prampram but I am buying lands everywhere. Asebu, Gomoa fettey, Aburi Amanfro, etc. locate where our brothers and sisters African Americans as we called them "akata" are moving to and follow the same trend

I am a Ghanaian living in the States by way of MN. I am extremely inspired that my people are now waking up to a reality that is confronting us every day as Diasporans. If we don't wake up and stop complaining about everything that is wrong with our country, we will wake up one day and realize that African Americans have overtaking the lands and the better part of the country. They are spreading all over Ghana. Please build, I don't care where you get your land it shouldn't be in Accra. Buy a land outside Accra and build. We are scared to go back home, but we should ask ourselves some questions about what these guys have seen in Ghana that we don't? Ghana is considered a safe place to live on top of the world list of countries, so our country is attracting visitors 1.5 million a year whats going on? Its not because Ghana is rich, but they are relocating to Ghana because they found opportunities and a safe heaven that we don't, and in my opinion, there is something pofaine about that. The fact is Ghanaian builders are not willing to adapt new ideas in home building. They are all stuck in 1960 ideas of sand and cement blocks while other countries are building with different cheaper ideas and more affordable to poor people. Also your builders only know how to ask for money, they can not give advice on how a client can save money on certain things. Plus the masons do the most ugliest block laying in the world.

Use a construction engineer to control the work. He/She will send you a weekly report and work with your builder to make sure that he/she is respecting the specs on the plan and using the right material.

Hmmm, this is one of the biggest issues in Ghana but when you talk to them and try to point some of these issues, theft, out they act like you’re making things up. My nephew was adding 20% to all the prices he was involved in negotiating and I didn’t know but the Mrs suspected it. I was insistent that my nephew will never do that. Well we were both home and hired someone to do some work but he negotiated and added the 20%. My wife asked the man who was doing the work and he told her how much we were supposed to be paying him and it was very different than what we were told.
