An eagle in the sky was seen in antiquity to be a portent from Zeus. The eagle is associated with Zeus. So the eagle cry in the background when the thunderous (ha) voice arrived was basically announcing Zeus.
Tragically that's not an eagle but a red-talked hawk, but that misconception is so deeply anchored that it'll take a brave creator to try and fight it (Also eagles do NOT sound majestic so that doesn't help)

I do wanna say that a lot of the animatics were directly off of livestreams from Jorge where he talks about what he see happening during the songs. I think a few of them he's even used in his livestreams, because they are the closest to Canon that he has seen people animate. I love them!
Hello!! Ive just started watching youre reactions to Epic, cant wait to see the rest. Something interesting Panda brought up at 23:04 is how the vocals from Zeus and his choir are singing over Ody. In the orginal release of this song, Ody was actually singing over Zeus. I think its a very smart choice from Jorge to flip this to what it is now, cause it better shows this dynamic between him as a mortal and Zeus being divine power, and completely overpowering Ody into silence at the line 'It is the will of the gods.'
I'm sitting here, enjoying the reactions, and what gets my sub is the 'They're almost as bad as making deals with the Fae' xD I'm loving this, excited to see yalls continued reactions :D
Telemachus is 10 years old at this point. He left home when Telemachus was 1, the war lasted for 10 years and this song depicts the END of the war. His journey home is just about to start..
19:40 close enough that is Zeus. But one intersting thing to keep in mind in the future every character gave an instrument that resemble them. Ex Ody have a guitar snd that change base from a classic to an electric one when he get into strategy mode. Also there is a difference between mortals and gods background core. Mortals have real people singin in the back while gods have a "fabricated" background of singers that suport the devines and ar created by them. You can see this in this song when zeus summon voices to say "i don't think you're ready" or "if you don't end him now you have no one left to save you" to make the moment more impactful
You'll notice in the series that some of the more powerful characters will get a sort of chorus behind them chanting their names in the background, signifying their roles of power. But Zeus is the only one who doesn't have that sort of introduction. He's so significantly powerful, the only thing that announces his presense is the sound of thunder booming in the background, as well as the eagle shown here (even if it's a hawks cry and not an eagle).
Welcome to Epic!! I love that you are listening to just the songs. So many reactors watch the animatics and I find they get caught up on the visuals and don't appreciate the lyrics enough!
me: "nOO the next best part is about to happen don't pause it nOW" Istg this was ✨STRESSFUL✨ to watch. Every👏damn👏 time👏 you guys paused just before a build up...
Fun facts about the sounds is that each prominent character has their own instrument/sound associated with them, if you hear backing vocals and it isn’t a god then it has to be the crew or someone else in universe, but the Gods can summon their own backing vocals like what Zeus did in this song. If there isn’t a god summoning them then odds are it’s the crew witnessing, and reacting to the events in the story.
Jorge Rivera-Herrans, the composer of Epic and the voice for Odysseus, was born in Puerto Rico. As you mentioned near the beginning, it reminds you of Hamilton. Lin-Manuel Miranda is also Puerto Rican, so it stands to reason they could have had similar influences in musical styles.
This musical is going to be approximately 2 hours long. It's also good to keep in mind that most animatic still function with the remade 2 sagas since it isn't a huge change in pacing and little to not change in actual lyrics. Bonus tip- Each main character is represented by their own instrument which you can pick up how they influence each other.
Fun fact! The person who voices Odysseus is Jorge Rivera-Herrans, the creator of Epic! I love the original versions but the updated ones are awesome and I think I love them more! You should see the animatics because they are BEAUTIFULL. They use the old versions though, no new ones yet.
I'm so glad to see new (to me) reactors getting into epic. Jorge did take a few creative liberties with the series, the important things are mostly the same. The main animatic creators are actually planning to rerelease their videos with the new audio (including any adjustments to match them) so I definitely appreciate if you watched them.
Peter Barber said he wants to sing Zeus if this hits the stage. CAN YOU FREAKING IMAGINE THAT???? Operatic bass Zeus would blow everyone away. End the show right there in the first song, guys, it'll be hard to top that. And don't you dare spoil yourself yet, but after you've heard the original, go over and watch Casper's cover of Poseidon's song. As you said, this is blowing up all over RUclips. At this rate, VoicePlay will be doing a cover before it even hits the stage!
Fun fact there are two separate stories but they end the same One Odysseus killed the baby The other Neo/Neoptolemus is the one who killed the baby Either way the babies fate was sealed
a little something so you guys can experience this musical better: 1.Every important character is represented by a specific instrument, you'll notice that as you continue listening :) its sooo cool 2. the backing vocals you hear (the call backs) in every god song, or any song in which a god appears, represent that the gods are so powerfull, they can like summon their own vocals. When there is no god in the song or in the scene, the backing vocals come from Odysseous's crew :) 3. Jorge uses different motifes in specific scenes. And there this one called the "danger motif" which is basically like..3 notes that are used whenever something dangerous is about to happen..its melody is the same but the motif itself is used differently depending on the situation...so listen carefully :) 5. There are animatics for each song! and they are all made by the fanbase and epic community, they are sooo good and are really great to help you undestand everything visually, you should definately check them out! Hope this helps :)
Jorge (hor-hay) is Puerto Rican like Lin Manuel Miranda, so there's some of that cultural influence. Jorge said anime was a big influence, and I swear, one of these songs sounds straight out of "Attack on Titan."
One really cool thing about how the music is created for this musical is that every lead character has a instrument associated with them, an by the rules of the epic universe the mortal characters backround music/vocals is composed of the things around them, like other soldiers or creatures while the gods dont have to abide by the rules and can basically summon their own backup vocals. So its a really cool and smart way do differentiate teh different characters and gods
So glad you guys are reacting to the new versions of the first two sagas to support Jorge! He deserves all the praise for this musical! ruclips.net/video/wKScp-O92ks/видео.htmlsi=NvKBi7pqYzX3o3x5 ^^If you’re interested, this link is a recording of the livestream that Jorge did the night before the Thunder Saga came out (admittedly it’s not his recording, but it was the best I could find) but it’s all six sagas (so far) in order, with the new versions of the first two, and it’s a good mix of lyrics on the screen, a few stage directions, and for certain songs, artwork and animatics that were commissioned by Jorge himself. It’s probably one of the best ways to experience the story as it exists right now!
I will say that if you were wanting to watch the animatics for the first 2 sagas after listening to the new official versions of them you would be able to continue with the animatics from Saga 3 (Ocean Saga) onward since they use the official versions of the songs (that jorge gets royalties from)
10:29 i have to tell you getting blind into this is a better experience than if you know what is suppose to happened alao the creator, Jay, is also the main character voice. Also this musicul have 2 acts each act having 20 songs that are devided into sagas 5 sagas are in act one that are already out and 5 in act 2 with only the thunder saga out
Yes, its very much Zues talking to Odysseus. And Ody had every right to be cocky up until then. He had a 10 year-long campaign with 600 men, and not a single one died. So, of course, he was, "Yeah, no problem. I got this."
PLEASE REACT TO THE ANIMATICS!!! I recommend reacting to gigi's Just A Man animatic. If you want to relisten to this song, I also recommend reacting to gigi's animatic as well (her The Horse and The Infant & Just A Man animatic are connected)
The person who voices Odysseus is actually Jorge! He’s so talented! And at this point I’m convinced he’s either blessed or he made a deal. Im just not sure which it is
Great reaction! Loved the insight and enthusiasm. Would it be an idea to react to a song (new version) and then react to an animatic afterwards? Not only might it be cool to see what changed in the new version of a song, but it would be such a shame for the animatics not to get as many eyes on them anymore because a new version of the audio dropped. You're already pointing out that it's better to support the new audio, but the artists that made the animatics deserve that support too!
Heres fun game to play while listening to epic: A character will have a signature sound for them, its either people's voice or an instrument There are (I think) 10 character that has signature sound: guess who is it and thier signature sound, GLHF!

It's Zeus that is singing with Odysseus
“Neo avenge your father and kill the brothers of Hector”
Neo (full name Neoptolemus) is the son of Achilles who died in war with an arrow to the heel
I do wanna say that a lot of the animatics were directly off of livestreams from Jorge where he talks about what he see happening during the songs. I think a few of them he's even used in his livestreams, because they are the closest to Canon that he has seen people animate. I love them!
Ohoho, more people reacting to Epic? I’m so excited!!!!
I never caught the similarity to the Lion King 2 song but I definitely hear it! So glad you're racing to this musical. Welcome to the obsession!
Jorge (Jay) and Lin are both from Puetro Rico, and studied music together. Jay went to Notre Dame in the USA and was very active in theater there.
YEAAAAH MORE EPIC REACTIONS THIS IS LIFE!!!! WITH OR WITHOUT ANIMATICS, THIS IS AWESOME ❤❤❤❤❤ hope to see u guys in the next songs :3
I have been avoiding all the reactors for Epic...until I saw that you were jumping into the fray. :)
Same
Oh I LOVE your analysis, this is excellent
Ack! I'm so glad more people are finding this musical. Get ready for an awesome ride!
His journey home is just about to start..
oh i cant wait for you guys to react to alll the other sagas. they are all truely EPIC
We got another one guys!!! I cant wait to see more of your reactions to the epic saga its so good😄
19:40 close enough that is Zeus.
This song is basically do you damn a child to the underworld now or do you damn yourself later
You really should make a full series from listening to this
me: "nOO the next best part is about to happen don't pause it nOW"
Istg this was ✨STRESSFUL✨ to watch.
It is Zeus which is represented with the eagle sound and thunder
Love your guys’ commentary! Can’t wait for you to see future songs!
Fun fact! The person who voices Odysseus is Jorge Rivera-Herrans, the creator of Epic! I love the original versions but the updated ones are awesome and I think I love them more! You should see the animatics because they are BEAUTIFULL. They use the old versions though, no new ones yet.
Luke Holt is Zeus. The man has by far the best voice for the God of Thunder that I've ever heard in media ever.
Such a perfect name too, Hold, Lightning Bolt, Electruc Zolt, the role was made for him.
Sorry that’s all I could think of 😂
ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US!
lol "Drop your morals" is such good unintentional foreshadowing
Start at 3:32
I'm so glad to see new (to me) reactors getting into epic.
One of us one of us one of us
Fun fact there are two separate stories but they end the same
One Odysseus killed the baby
The other Neo/Neoptolemus is the one who killed the baby
Either way the babies fate was sealed
a little something so you guys can experience this musical better:
1.Every important character is represented by a specific instrument, you'll notice that as you continue listening :) its sooo cool
2. the backing vocals you hear (the call backs) in every god song, or any song in which a god appears,
represent that the gods are so powerfull, they can like summon their own vocals. When there is no god in the song or in the scene, the backing vocals come from Odysseous's crew :)
3. Jorge uses different motifes in specific scenes. And there this one called the "danger motif" which is basically like..3 notes that are used whenever something dangerous is about to happen..its melody is the same but the motif itself is used differently depending on the situation...so listen carefully :)
5. There are animatics for each song! and they are all made by the fanbase and epic community, they are sooo good and are really great to help you undestand everything visually, you should definately check them out!
Hope this helps :)
I'm so excited to hear your reactions and analysis! Welcome to Epic!

^^If you’re interested, this link is a recording of the livestream that Jorge did the night before the Thunder Saga came out (admittedly it’s not his recording, but it was the best I could find) but it’s all six sagas (so far) in order, with the new versions of the first two, and it’s a good mix of lyrics on the screen, a few stage directions, and for certain songs, artwork and animatics that were commissioned by Jorge himself. It’s probably one of the best ways to experience the story as it exists right now!
Drew Seely sang the vocals for Zac Efron and they blended their voices in High School Musical
ONE OF US!
I will say that if you were wanting to watch the animatics for the first 2 sagas after listening to the new official versions of them you would be able to continue with the animatics from Saga 3 (Ocean Saga) onward since they use the official versions of the songs (that jorge gets royalties from)
Yea this musical goes hard excited for this musical series
10:29 i have to tell you getting blind into this is a better experience than if you know what is suppose to happened alao the creator, Jay, is also the main character voice.
Also this musicul have 2 acts each act having 20 songs that are devided into sagas 5 sagas are in act one that are already out and 5 in act 2 with only the thunder saga out
you can react to the new versions and then watch the animatics (?)
Im just not sure which it is
I assure you now if you are this invested after the first song, you will be soooo invested by song 5! Great reactions!
You're already pointing out that it's better to support the new audio, but the artists that made the animatics deserve that support too!
welcome to the amazing world of Epic! so exited for the next!!
The singer of odyseus was also jorge hevera (the creater of the musical)
21:45 It’s called “Imperfect Rhyme”. Two things that auditory rhyme but technically do not rhyme.
Heres fun game to play while listening to epic:
A character will have a signature sound for them, its either people's voice or an instrument
There are (I think) 10 character that has signature sound: guess who is it and thier signature sound, GLHF!
Oh my GOD, I see Power Ranger merch in the background!
Yesss I'm obsessed haha! Even have a Green Ranger Cosplay
I knew you'd nerd out. Every saga is incredible.
dont even mention zac effron, if it's gonna be made into a movie musical, it's gotta be Jorge himself PERIOD.
Couldn't agree more!
