Amazing interview, I don't think a lot of vets realize how much regular people like myself are interested in hearing these soldiers tell their stories. Even if they think they're service wasn't that important or eventful, it still captivates your attention because for the most part, we don't know what they and their families go thru. This colonel is very inspiring, great speaker & storyteller and a true hero to guys like me.

Just watched this interview after seeing Lt Mann’s testimony for Afghanistan withdrawal for Congress, from an AF vet, God Bless You and Your Family for All Your sacrifices and Mostly Continuing to Tell Your Story!!

Wonderful interview. It’s a crying shame that the lessons from the Malayan Emergency, the Borneo Confrontation and Vietnam didn’t remain known by the 1990s.

I worked with 5th Group in Nam, Bien Hoa 67 & 68, Scott is a brother, pay attention to what you know nothing about. I feel your pain Scott, so many of my/our brothers names are on the Wall. It's so sad that the armchair uninformed that have never been outside the wire have the fortitude to leave a comment. I honor you my brother! 2,679 views & the Kardashian's have millions, SAD!

There are alot of assumptive comments on here that commentors have anything less than admiration for his man.

mr and all people there's no hundreds of thousands of years which was repeated here.. it's the unbelief in God which is the gap that nobody else can fill..God made us,the heavens and the earth and our purpose of existence is solely aligned to His purposes. thank you for the amazing interview and insight and your story telling.its amazing and such a wealth of pleasure

I wish they ppl that made these cared enough to have good audio levels... youd think people would care about the audio when recording veteran stories for future generations to watch. Sad

Wish he'd addressed the political insurgency within the U.S. that supports and defends every enemy that comes along. As a Vietnam-era vet, we were discouraged from wearing our uniform in public...he speaks of ISIS remerging, but fails to address it's supporters right in Congress, the media and within the educational system.

There is something that is being left out of this ongoing narrative, by special operators and intelligence, that is suspicious and unsatisfactory. This is the same story as Viet Nam, and all the other operations fought to a non-conclusion. I wish someone would fill in the blanks and complete the jigsaw puzzle because it cost so much money and lives to no apparent avail. Someone please fill in the blanks and just be honest, simple and true.

I STILL don't understeand what any of this had to do with protecting America. Violent extremism is their problem not ours. Why get involved. Don't we have enough problems over here? There are many here who need protecting and skill-building. There are many here who need help.
I don't think I will ever understand really.

Terrorism spreads by sanctuary countries like Afghanistan acting as one big training ground for enemy fighters. They fight train and learn how to be a terrorist and then fly planes into buildings in America. America has acted as the world police since 1945 and if we stop now we'll have another 911 on our hands

His argument was being in Afghanistan prevented another 9/11 or foreign terrorist attack from happening. If we train the locals to be the eyes and ears for us as insiders we can prevent a global spread of terrorism. It has been shown in the past groups like al qaeda have inspired bad actors to commit terrorist attacks here just like the Boston bombings. The war on terror had nothing to do with economic or political gain but rather the security of America.
