Love that Sheep Camp on you! I’ve steeked one sweater, a cardigan for my grandson. I had made him a sweater and it was a little too small in the chest circumference, so I turned it into a cardigan. I did the sewing machine reinforcement and a crochet stitch as well. The extra stitches in the button band helped to enlarge the fit for him. Happy March to you! 💚
I love your Sheep Camp sweater Stephanie, it looks so cosy and the rolled neck makes a nice difference to the usual ribbed one. I also really like the designers thinking behind the yoke design. I'm really inspired to knit one for myself now! The colours you chose for your Academic vest work so well togther, they're beautiful.
Your Sheep Camp sweater in Pale Mushroom and Juniper Green Linen Quill is stunning. I love the modifications that you made, including the longer length and sleeves. The back where you worked short rows gives the sweater a custom fit and enhances the shape of the neckline. The yoke is beautiful and yes, Juniper Green is an amazing color, what I think of as a black green. I saw your Sheep Camp Sweater #2 WIP on Ravelry, and I love the Purl Soho Knitting Yarn color combination that you chose (Sandpiper Brown and Heirloom White).
Thank you for another super great podcast Stephanie! I really enjoy everything you share, especially your amazing finished projects. The Sheep Camp sweater looks wonderful and wonderful on you! Your Academic Vest is so gorgeous and I totally love the colours you chose. Stay warm and cozy and happy (gorgeous) knitting!
All your finished projects are lovely Stephanie! The colours you have chosen for the Sheep Camp Sweater are really harmonious and still clearly define the pattern. The vest is beautiful. Skeindeer knits is a very talented designer. I love the colours and while they are not for me, they are combined so well, I wish they were. Your daughters are talented designers too, the socks are great. Thanks for your company today.
I love it so much that your kids love to wear hand knitted socks, mitts, sweaters and other things that you knit for them, Stephanie ❤️😊 and that they like choosing the colors, too.. The vest is amazing! Loved this episode, thank you 😊❤️
Your podcast popped up in my feed today; I don’t know why I haven’t seen it before. I’m so happy to find a fellow Minnesotan to support! Your knits are beautiful! I’m definitely going to knit the Sheep Camp Sweater following your modifications. I’m looking forward to going through your back catalog, as well as your next episode. Thank you!
In Oregon the kids do this thing where they have a list of books, they make teams and read the books and then they battle other teams via questions about all the books they read. They just released next year’s list and “When You Trap a Tiger” is on the list! I am planning to read more of the books next year with my son and am excited to read that one. Love your vest and sweater!! I wish I liked doing color work more than I do so I could make ones myself. I love seeing your FOs.
Aahh, the lemon loaf , the banana bread, the blankets of snow, BUT the Academic Vest!!!! Shut the door, it's soooo pretty!! So interesting that construction! Ok back to watching!
Hi Stephanie! Thanks for always captioning your videos - it’s super helpful! I hope you’re doing well and staying warm ☺️. I used Denise’s (Earthtone Girl) shadow wrap heel for my last pair of socks and I loved the technique! Much more “clean” looking than my attempts and the heel flap and gusset. Thank you for the amazing resources as always! I love learning new techniques.
Your channel popped up on my RUclips feed and so happy to have found you. Thank you for all the details about modifications to your knit projects. As i get better at knitting and understanding construction (deep colorwork yokes…not the best fit), i appreciate hearing others’ thoughts. I look forward to seeing everything you are making. 😊
I just found you,.. just glancing through your podcast,.. I really like all your beautiful stories and projects you have done and made I haven't got to check each and everyone of them,. But I will,.. you do such Beautiful work indeed,... You have such beautiful children too,... I love your personality also .😁🥰👍♥️🧶🌺💕🌸🙂 I'm so glad I found you,... Happy Knitting...💕🌸🧶♥️👍😁 Keep On Keeping On with such beautiful work,.... 😁👍♥️
The vest is really amazing - also to follow you along how to find the colors. Ravelry is wonderful to have - academic vest is in the basket. new subs since today :) thank you for sharing!
Just got an order from Purl Soho that includes a Knitting Yarn color called Blue Whale, and it is lovely. I thought about your Sheep Camp sweaters and how nice Blue Whale would look for the yoke design. Maybe paired with Heirloom White or Birch Bark for the main color.
Welcome Linda! Yes! The contrast colors don't use a lot of yardage and you don't have to keep with the same color assignments. Use as many or as few colors as you'd like and work with what you've got!
In my neck of Mpls the roads were pretty good, though the walk from our side door to the garage took ages to shuffle along, a sheet of ice, navigating the snowdrifts and "pond" of water on top of the sheet of ice with grit mixed in. That said, it was about time the "old snow" was covered with a beautiful snowy layer again! Loving your new series. And as always loving the food bits and bobs that you post on these your longer format episodes.
The sunshine made a big difference this morning. Roads actually seemed fine. I noticed that edges of the roads were more icy and there were definitely pothole ice ponds. YES!!! The grayish snow that partially melted got a nice refresh with the new layer - and there might be more coming tonight?? Here for it. Thank you so much for spending some time with me! Take care!💕
Hi I just found you I live in Minnesota too! I love, like and subscribed. Definitely want to knit the Navajo sweater. I'm in Az for the winter and learning socks. Love your episode 101 and look forward to more
Stephanie Thank You for sharing your time and thoughts- and the beautiful pictures of the snow! I'm sure it's not quiet as exciting for you as I know it creates problems to get around and about in but- we don't get that amount here where I live! I also appreciate your thoughts on each of the beautifully made items that you make. I am inspired to get to the perfection of detail that you achieve in the details! The details that you give on fit and hints for finishing, etc. help so much with the questions that I have as I want my projects to look perfect (like your projects)! I wondered if you have a tutorial that I might have missed or have spoken about how to get the best look for underarm (picking up stitches) to avoid holes?? I am trying but am having such a hard time with my sweater and have taken it out many times! Just wondered if anyone else has asked you how you achieve doing this as your sweaters are so very nice!! Thank you!
Hi Caroline! I love the snow. I don't have a tutorial on the underarm stitches. It would require me to record at the exact time when I'm ready to pick up for the sleeves and it just doesn't always work out to timing-wise for such a specific process. I recommend searching on RUclips for videos - I'm sure there are plenty! I sometimes pick up an extra stitch at each end of the stitches cast on for the sleeves and then on the next round decrease those sts back down to the st count I need. Depending on the yarn and gauge of the fabric however, sometimes I feel like picking up more sts can create a bigger hole from how the yarn is pulling. I always leave a very long tail at the underarms to then duplicate stitch across and close up holes on the sides once my sleeves are done. Hope that helps!
I love the sweater you're wearing, the motif looks like sequoia trees to me, and it's the first thing I thought of when you mentioned the designer was Navajo. It's gorgeous, and I'll bet Linen Quill feels wonderful to wear. I love those colorful socks!
I make my socks the same as you do it just flows easier even with all the needle changes. I love seeing all of your farmers daughter yarns not a lot of podcasters show them off. I really need to get into sock squad I’ve been wanting to for 2 years now.
Thank you for joining in the conversation Amber! So far I think this is my favorite "collection" of sock squad (and this is my third year participating). Take care!
Everything is sooo good!!! Yay! you steeked! I know who to ask when I have to, haha~ ... I didn't care for the base this month with Sock squad but their colors are always beautiful. All the best, Kimberly
Haha. I’m not sure asking me will help you much. I’ve only done it once!!! BFL feels crunchier to me at first but it wears well. That being said, I totally get that the feel isn’t for everyone! Take care Kimberly!
@@EdibleThoughtsMakes Yes, crunchier is right. Although, it definitely seems more durable. Should have gone up a needle though, or maybe a half size. They feel stiff on my US1s. What did you use? Thanks again for the time. Love seeing your podcast. - k
Thank you Sally! I don't believe I offered to share my mom's knits here....I'm not sure if I will or not! I don't feel a need for everything to be shared publicly but can decide for myself. Thanks!
I got "When You Trap A Tiger" from the library yesterday. Just now starting it. Lily, Sam, and their mother heading up to Sunbeam WA to begin living with Halmoni.
I love the Sheep Camp sweater-I had been admiring it on your IG. I thought the motif was skinny pine trees, now I know I’m supposed to be seeing arrows. Pine trees or arrows, either way it’s beautiful.
Beautiful video to relax to after completely a bunch of much needed paperwork and admin💜 Thank you! I'm knitting some "...Simplest Mittens" as well for a community Auntie. She works outside most days, even in the snow, so I made her colourwork mittens out of Plotulopi but I'm finding they aren't great for wind proofing. I'll use these Simplest ones for a liner. I'm reading Riot Baby by Tochi Onyebuchi. Whew! I'm really appreciating this writing and the vision it creates. Its a tough read emotionally tho. Using Sci-Fi and magical realism/culture to explore and address racial inequities in the web of systems that we rely on and also struggle within. Lots of content warnings with that one. I'm first in line on library hold for Six Crimson Cranes and just waiting for my name to come up :)
Thank you so much Nico!!! I've never worked with Plutulopi or any of the unspun yarns before and always learning from others' experiences. What a great idea to knit a liner! The book you're reading sounds like the intensity I feel when reading works by Arundhati Roy and Isabel Allende. Powerful, heart-breaking, social and political inequities, etc. I'm so excited for you to read Six Crimson Cranes!!
My stitch gauge was a little different as well in the stockinette part but that info isn’t provided on the designer’s Ravelry page so I’m not going to provide information that’s part of the paid-pattern.

Lovely vest! I think, though, the “steek” is a bridge and your vest for the bridge to be cut. It’s already steeked?-I think.

By how many stitches was your Guage off with the sheep camp sweater?
Per pattern 22 stitches and 25 rows = 4 inches in Charted Pattern. My colorwork gauge was 22sts x 22rnds = 4 inches.
