Great instructional for a look I've always wondered how to cut -- Would love to see more videos like this from you. Black background made it a little difficult to see what was going on with the hair during the process and in the result but I imagine current events may have limited where you're able to record. Keep it up: you're the most -properly- informative voice I've found yet on youtube when it comes to the cut & style side of the industry.
Incredible work and haircut. I like the DiCaprio Titanic look, where it appears similar to this but with the bottom trimmed more. Longer hair, however, always looks cool when cut properly.
I am trying to get a haircut like that but how would you name it , call it so I could explain of find something similar in an usual barber shop , thanks
Without you even knowing you've been a mentor to me recently. Honestly I use to "hate on you" for absolutely no reason other than I was ignorant to the topics you preached. Now that I've taken a lot of time to invest into furthering my education in this industry I'm realizing you know your shit. Continue pumping out solid content brutha. Its greatly appreciated and truly inspiring.
Great tutorial, I'm going to take this to my barber. It's almost exactly what I'm looking for, which is the Sonny Crockett haircut of Miami Vice season 2, which is a little shorter on the back and front, but otherwise cut with the same technique connecting the fuller sides with the top, nice round head shape in the back and hugging the head on the neck section, all connecting with each other with some volume and movement on top. Wish me luck. If you want to do a proper tutorial for Sonny Crockett I'll share it on all the right places. You'd be the first to teach this haircut on video. Thanks again, this is so helpful already.
Yo dude! This is exactly me! I’ve wanted that haircut for longer than this comment but when I grew out my hair last time it didn’t work out as planned ;( The season 2 Sonny Crockett and Patrick Bateman haircuts are my two favorite of all time, and the main reason I went for the latter was because of its relevance at nowadays. Believe it or not I’m only 20 and gained a love for these hairstyles through the show and movie and not stupid TikTok and social media bs lul Idk if you’re part of the Miami Vice online community but I was wrapped up in that for a while when I was going for an accurate costume for Halloween a while back. Sorry for the long comment but this is almost exactly my same situation and it was 4 years ago too lul This Halloween it’s Patrick Bateman so wish me luck ;)
Thanks for all the info andrew, I got out of barber school almost a year ago and I never learned much shear work so to finally find a good teacher is super refreshing, I look forward to seeing more haircut tutorials
It’s been a lot of years since it’s happened to me, but it has, and it does come off horribly to show a barber a haircut tutorial if it’s done in a “here’s the steps I want you to take to achieve the results” sort of way- in fact fear of that happening with my videos kept me from getting on RUclips for a while. However if you jump to the last ten seconds and say “here are the results I want” that’s not rude at all. If your barber doesn’t do that type of work and they can’t get you the results you want, I’d find another one before suggesting they watch a tutorial. This is all my personal opinions of course.
Andrew where is the video with the 3 bob haircut on a ginger model? :(( I always show it to my hairstylist when I go for a haircut... did you delete it?
Well the technical term for this kind of cut is “short square layers” and it’s sort of a basic staple- like anyone who has gone to barber school or cosmetology school has at least had this haircut explained to them, if not they’ve even had to execute it for a grade. However, it’s possible that someone might’ve faked their way through school and not kept this one with them, or it’s also possible that someone learned to do this cut but rarely or never had to do it in the real world so it hasn’t stuck well. I can’t speak for all barbers vs all stylists, but if we’re speaking statistically here, if you were to walk blindfolded into any random salon or barbershop I’d say you would be more likely to find a stylist doing these sorts of cuts than a barber.
@@andrewdoeshair Thanks for the explanation. I ask about the difficulty because I have found that when you tell the barber about this cut, they seem intimidated by it. I show pictures, explain it, ect....the barber always seems to default to the standard slick back taper hairstyle, where it's shorter on sides and back. I'll try a Salon for this cut. TY.
Awesome vid man, I just subbed. Would you be able to do actor Charlie Hunhams hairstyle from the later seasons of 'Sons of Anarchy'? (The bobbed slick back biker cut) Keep vids coming and God bless 😊

I’m going to be growing out my hair. I currently use a high volume mousse or hairspray. I don’t think my hair is long enough to get it to like exactly like this just yet. And my hair parts kind of down the middle now naturally for some reason. Listen, I’m not a hair expert 😂😂
hair spray will ruin your hair and is realy bad for the health of your hair if you want to grow your hair you have to use no products untill it grows to the size you want it to be
Start with exactly two photos of the haircut (one photo doesn't usually show enough info, and three or more photos can show too many conflicting details and make it harder to hone in on what you want). I have a video called "how to get a better haircut" or something along those lines, that goes into detail about some of the best ways to request a specific look.
andrewdoeshair ye but what was the final result length you think on the top back and sides because the haircut is kinda like a neatly cut slicked back mullet hybrid so do you know for this cut that the back is longer then the top
Damn I wish I had you cutting my hair. I asked for this cut yesterday, and I got none of the structure you showcased here.. Paid $38 for the cut too >=(
