Yes, I really hope for a 3rd and final. I've been waiting for years, and will remain to do so. There's just one problem the people who are/were trying to make it face: There isn't really any more source material to go of from. I haven't seen the comics but I don't believe there is one where xerxes dies. The spartans simply don't play a significant and godlike role in any other battle. In rise of an empire the spartans only show up at the end. So maybe we could see the battle of plataea, the one we see at the end of the first film. But that wouldn't hold any story significance. It's just a massive battle. The other option would be to make a bit of a time jump, to Alexander the great, who ultimately defeats the persians. But, that doesn't include the spartans, and that massive campaign would be incredibly difficult to translate into this comic book like style. So it's quite tough to come up with a compelling story for a 3rd film. On IMDB you can find the working title for the 3rd film called: vengeance.
