I started doing short magazines with transition to sidearm drills a while back on the advice of an experienced friend. It seems like a 'basic' drill until you try it the first time. I oafed around slowly at first but eventually got pretty smooth at it. Love all your basic drills videos - I can use them as building blocks and add my own elements to make them 'advanced' with running forward/backwards while engaging; engaging offhand then going to paddy crouch, etc. As always, thanks.
Awesome content and delivery! You pack more training and info into 7 minutes than most rambling youtubers do in 20 minutes. I watched your videos, then I went to the range andshot videos of myself shooting your drills. Very eye opening...that malfunction drill was brutal!! But it's super useful to be able to watch yourself react to that situation under a little bit of stress. I can't shoot anywhere near as well as Karl ( and never claimed to) but I wanted to show that the regular guy next door could learn these drills and shoot them well. I'm sure I made mistakes in my videos that I didn't even notice, but if you want to critique, heckle or mock, feel free to check out the videos. Thank you again Karl. You're helping to (re)build a nation of riflemen. Every citizen a soldier. A rifle behind every blade of grass.

Thanks. We are trying really hard to put out great content. I think everyone will like that one too. So, be looking for it. TR

Morning Karl I'd like to say thank you to you and the Tactical Rifleman family we're still doing these videos and dealing with RUclips's bullcrap they're very intuitive and useful and I look forward to putting the drills and tactics into place with myself my friends and my family keep on shooting straight and thanks again
What I like about these drills is, you dont need to spend tons of money on ammo. Everyone acts like you need boxes on boxes on boxes of ammo to go to the range. Maybe if you are dumping 30 rounds all day. Doing simple drills like these are far more effective and you dont need to spend all your money on ammo.
I like how you state that you hope we got something out of your video. Of course we did!! Keep up the good work TR, love and appreciate your instruction!!👍🇺🇸
Karl- I use your drills every time I practice, which is about once a week. thanks for adding some new stuff to the mix. Great video. please keep the training videos coming. Thumbs up!!!!
Tactical Rifleman I work at a local gun store/gun range, so keeping my skills up to date is super important for both me and my customers. Really good. Use these drills with my students and I do add the dummy rounds. Transition drill on long gun day really gets them thinking and understanding fundamentals for the pistol especially. Thanks for the video!
Karl thanks this is awesome as usual. My son, a cop, showed me the drill u were doing with dummy rounds except we did it with spent casings! Thanks again!
Great content as always TR! May i suggest a blindside drill? So u start off by standing in the center, lets say u have 5 target boards in front of u, target no.1 being the target on the extreme left, target no.5 on the extreme right. turn ur body to face the the 5th target, 2 to the chest, another quick 2 to the 4th target and immediately turn to the 1st target aka ur blindside to simulate an enemy coming out from another corner. Cheers!
Great stuff, man! This is the stuff everyone needs to work. When the SHTF all the cute little pistols aren't going to be what gets you to the next day!
When i was training executive protection and convoy protection i had a instructor who made me count every round and practice similar drills over and over for weeks and hours. He wasnt special ops but he had many years experience working for NYPD and Secret Service.
Hey Karl, can we get the twelve drills for the twelve days of Christmas this year? The drills in this video are also awesome. Happy Thanksgiving to the tactical rifleman team and their families
I actually just filmed my 12 gift recommendations to put out before Christmas. I hadn’t thought of the “Twelve Drills of Christmas”. Let me think on it. TR
Great video, Karl. I totally agree on training with dummy rounds. I've also used empty brass because it causes other types of malfunctions. Really makes you focus on the drill one step at a time, get good hits, smooth transition, etc... Training is different when we question whether our gun is going to go bang...
Most of our targets are made by MGM Targets. Mike Gibson is a great American. The round plates I made in Iraq, and are made from dead Iraqi HumVees. MGM has a Promo code for Tactical Rifleman viewers. TacR10 I think.
My brother and I just got back from doing these drills. Had a blast as this is the first time my brother has done these kinds of drills. Looks badass when he's using his SCAR 17...lol. Thanks for the video!

Thanks for the vital information yet again! I did not know that you could shoot at steel targets that close with 556. I mainly shoot paper at 25 yards and steel at longer distances.
Stop!!! I was shooting FRANGBLE AMMO!!! I don't want you to tear yourself up. I was shooting ANGLED Rifle-rated Steel from MGM Targets (they have a Promo Code for TR Viewers), and I was using Inceptor Frangible Ammo. It hits much lighter than most other Frang.
Got it Sir! Just got back from an indoor range here in Virginia Beach, VA . Did a bunch of mag dumps at 25 yards on paper. Wolf Gold would give a little splash back at that distance on steel I would imagine. Thanks once again for the feedback.

Simple and makes sense! I like it Karl. If you have a link for some good dummy rounds or an amazon store, let us know. Next time, do a video on good dry fire drills if you have some you would like to share :)
Hey, Karl side question not relevant to the video, but what would you recommend for good electronic ear pro that fit under a helmet that doesn't break the bank and if at all possible wire in comms. Theyre a private purchase but for military useage. Thank you.
Walker has a new inside the ear electronic ear pro, that is rechargeable & blue tooth. Now, the military isn't big on blue tooth, because of jammers and all, but I have my phone wired into my current muffs. They're a couple hundred dollars a set, but tons cheaper than electronic ear pro used to be. That's actually what I've asked the wife for Christmas.
@@TacticalRifleman What about outside the ear muffs that you can hard wire? I'd imagine these guys are using older comms so I'll have to wire them into the headsets.
We usually ran Peltors. They still do good deals, and have great customer service. Call their marketing department. Don't just talk to a computer, but get a human (I wish I could remember her name, we met at the last NRA show)… they'll point you in the right direction. Remember, with the new helmets… they all have removeable pads. I pull the all out except front and back, then wear with headset... if it is comfortable, I then add more pads around the sides. It'll fit.
@@TacticalRifleman Thank you really appreciate the help. I don't know what kind of helmets these guys wear. It's not the American military it's a foreign military (don't worry not a terrorist group) but I have to buy my own kit. But I'll definitely get ahold of peltor and look into my options. Thanks again for your help. And thank you for your service.
At 2:02 have you ever seen that drill put to use in a real world scenario against enemies? Just curious if a person would have time to react and shoot back after seeing his buddy get blown away

Karl, what’s your optic zero’d to? I’m using a 50yard on my holographic spitfire2. Finding a shorter zero with a more compact firing ranges is what I want. At 50 I get 100 and 150 within an inch above aim and 25, 200 & 250 is below the point of aim. I tried 25yards but the ranges on my reticle are so far apart it’s nearly impossible for me to get past 100 yard shoots with good accuracy. The 50 yard zero gives a nice compact aiming points, but is there a better combat zero? Something to compress the ranges into a tighter box? Like 25 yards it’s nearly a foot of range difference! The 50 leaves a little more to be desired in my experience. What’s your favorite zero?
You’re using it... I use a 50 meter zero on HWS and red dot sights. However, I really confirm AND FINE TUNE a 200 meters. If all you have nearby is a 25 meter range, take your ZEROED rifle and shoot a group at 25m. Then measure your offset and record. You can now come back and double-check your 50/200m zero on a 25m range. Thanks for watching, TR
Tactical Rifleman I got out today and fine tuned my optic! I have an 10.5” SBR with a Spitfire2 on it. I think because of the differences in accuracy with it and my main “battle rifle” with a 16” barrel, same Spitfire2 optic, I’ll keep the SBR at 25m and the carbine at 50m. Really strange how the math works out on it! The 25m I’ve got a super tight box for our to 50m. It does get out to 12.5” stretching that sight out! With the 50m I’ve got a 6.25” spread for my 25, 50, 100, 150, 200 & 250m! It’s just beautiful! I had done the math wrong my first time and was still looking at a 9” spread! Wrong! I didn’t even think about my math?! This helped a lot! Thank you for the help! Keep the videos coming Karl!
