Good tips. I'm a new shooter and training alot at my local range. It's a great range. They allow human likeness paper targets and rapid fire. All calibers and even shotguns. They don't allow drawing so I just practice 3rd position.
I would not recommend the trigger finger isolation drill to a new shooter....but I'm a good 5000 rounds in so I might give it a try. Heading to the range momentarily and was looking for some drills to work on today.

Great video, something I'd like to mention if you have to use a restrictive range, talk to the people at the shop. Develop a relationship with them. They very well might ask you to come when it's slow and give you a little more room to work in. They might come out and rso you personally and that's fine. Be people, it can really do you some good. The trigger finger zero is something I will be trying when I get home today, thanks!

Start with some Dry-Firing Drills (games) at the house. Fastest Draw, Fastest Reload (use Dummy Rounds). Run a Dryfire App on your phone to give a "Go" Beep and a timed "Fail" Beep. Make it fun. The key to carrying a gun, besides accuracy, is for her to be comfortable with it. That doesn't come with firing 50rds every other month; it comes with handling a gun every day. Bring her to one of our Combat Pistol 101 courses. We have lots of women and couples / families attend. Great training and great bonding experience for both of you. I guarantee everyone leaves comfortable with their pistols after only one day. TR

I regularly drive an hour and a half each way to my usual range for training (it's an outdoor IDPA range, I highly recommend anyone serious about shooting to try competition shooting). I wake up at 5am to go out shooting and don't get back until noon. I know that isn't practical for everyone, but I need to regularly stay sharp for my career so it's a trip I am more than willing to regularly make. I shoot my EDC pistol and my duty piece. If I can't go to that range, I dry fire instead. Dry fire every day, you can do a lot of these drills with dry fire. We are in a golden age of information for shooting, too. Plenty of resources online and apps you can put on your phone.
Basically what I'm saying is: Once you find the right range for you, invest in it. I always take extra earpro and eyepro for guys who roll up. I bring IFAKs for booboos. I bring extra staples for the targets. You name it, I got it to help my range out on my own dime.

I'm always amazed at how fast people go to the range and shoot, pack up and leave. Personally I use to be one of those people.
It's like shoveling down a great steak dinner and and getting out as fast as possible. Personally for me, I drill like this most of the time. It slows me down and makes me enjoy it more while getting better.
I even go as far as to run a drill with just the amount of ammo I need. That way I'm forced to reload and think about what I just did and adjust.
We all know how fast you can blow through ammo, accomplish nothing more to punch a lot of holes in the target and then regret not bringing more bullets.
I use to be a "slam bam thank you ma'am" shooter.
Now I pack up and have a cigarette... LoL
Great tips and advice, thanks for sharing 👍

Anyway at the end of the trip he started telling us how to exit the kayaks and the precise way to climb the riverbank... as not to get hurt. I didn't listen and bashed my head on a canoe... I purchased one when I was in my 20s but had a different mind set, i.e. it’s cool to have one lol. I plan to appendix carry, so my thought process was drawing fast. If I can’t hit what I aim at, doesn’t matter if I get it out fast. I’m the one who could end up dead. Just wanted to let you know I've been subscribed for a while. (Not just here because of the other guys) You're teaching some great fundamentals in this video and touch on a lot of points many others on YT don't.

I hope every shooter on You Tube finds this video.
I like shooting out at the forest land, but hate the range.
Now, I can't wait to get back to the range!

Awesome as always, thanks Karl and Krew!
Great to see Karl's perfect arms manipulation... between y'all and Shrek I get better training from RUclips than I got as a Socom soldier in the 90s lol 💯

2 is 1 and 1 is none and train the way you fight may be great mantras, but so is some is better than none. Top performers make the most of what is available right now for training.

great video man, I am new subscriber (10 years force recon in canada) I shoot solo 90% of the time and living in canada im lucky enough to have an outdoor range(which after doing a competency test in front of the owner) he let's me use my holster and I can even do transitions. I find i get bored of the same old drills and its getting a bit stagnant. After watching a few of your videos, it gave me lots to work on now, so thanks again, Pro Patria (for country) our units mantra, cheers
