Ben, unfortunately I just started growing fig trees this spring. Growing up in North Seattle, I have been interested in your story. You kind of remind me of myself, in terms of interests. I now reside in the Tri-Cities, but spent my first thirty in Seattle. I've had a koi pond for 20 inches yrs. And of course, I'm Chinese. Burning question, is it important to have a special cutting board to process figs on? I want to get this fig thing exactly right!
You said August but when do they ripen the breba for you exactly? I also have a VdB and want to compare. I just started out planting figs and want to get an idea of which varieties I can ripen properly where I live. I’m in coastal NorCal.
I have a tree called Vallacalde. Same exact region and 600 meter up a mountain as Nero 600m. Its a one year tree so no figs yet. Also starting a Nero 600 I'm wondering if they are the same tree.
yes it serves its purpose. to create additional branching or transfer some of the energy into fruit growth, removing the auxin at the tip has a multiple benefits.
You have a great lineup. I think negrone is the same as vdb. I'm hoping that smith can be cheap one day so I can buy some cuttings. It's a must have for my climate.

Came across your channel by chance. Joined the fig group. I live in Eastern Louisiana. So glad I found your channel.
I have a Nero 600 growing out now and several VdB so I'm keenly interested in this one.
