    5.07..wash it with normal soap? The detergent will enter the pores in clay pot and next time when you cook food, it gets in the food. Consuming detergent long term can cause serious illness. My suggestion is to use baking soda or salt or just wash it with plain water and clean with a soft scrubber and once in a while boil water in it with a slice of lemon to get rid of the smell.

Can you lightup some details regarding my doubt..In recent times i had seen many manufacturers used to mix Red oxide which is a highly toxic chemical substance with raw clay at initial stages of making of clay utensils or finishes the outer layer of utensils both interior and exterior at its final stages to increase the finishing and colour tone for getting more demand in the market. HOW TO IDENTIFY SUCH CLAY COOKWARES? Please reply. thankyou

      No, it just means it's glazed. There's a vitrified layer on the inside that makes it so it's not porous anymore. But it's completely safe and I think you can even wash the shiny part with soap without problem.

      Hi. No, there is no contamination in the clay ware that is available through Zishta. The soil is one of the best - cauvery delta region. It has been tested for contamination. And these are made without glazing. So given that the soil is the best from delta region and the clay is unglazed, there is no contamination.
      The same has also been verified scientifically and tested in NABL accredited lab and complies iwth RoHS standards.

    Hi. i bought few clayware which have a smooth texture..not the rustic look. on asking the vendor he said that was not polish but they had smoothened it using cloth and water. is that possible?

    • @Zishta
      @Zishta  4 года назад +2

      its possible.. the only issue with that is it closes a lot of the pores in clay, the pores play a very important role in the cooking process and breathing of clay (Its called). not to say they do not work .. just a trade off one has to look at.. :)

    Hi I have a very important question. We bought a water pot recently and it is not shiny as u said but it has a bright matte terracotta colour. I have seen the shiny ones as well but this is not, but still I suspect it is some kind of paint since some natural colour is there underneath when i scratch it. can u please tell if u heard about the different kinds of paint and whether this is safe

    Is there a preference for glazed or unglazed clay pot for stove top cooking? I’m not sure if you were implying that glazed pots protect the food from the clays. I’m not sure if unglazed pots are preferential because the pores are open. Thank you.

    • @Zishta

      glazed pots are not good for cooking as predominantly the glazing has lead contamination.always use unglazed clay for cooking.

      soak it in starch water. That may help in removing the smell of clay if its still there. Generally , the clay earthy smell lasts only for a few days and not for months.

    • @Zishta

      Hi It is generally the earthy smell or if sometimes the clay has some impurities stuck in the pores - could have a foul smell. We recommend you soak (In a bucket of water add starch water or arrow root powder) it in starch water for 2 days and then wash them well and use. generally this process will remove the foul smell or the earthy scent.
