I turn 60 next year and I'm considering starting this activity, and hopefully I'll be able to record some things learned over the past decades to pass on to my children and grandchildren. Thanks for providing this helpful guide (and all of your other content as well). Cheers!
Wow! Thats amazing, i want to read that as well. Haha hope you have more than 40 year of age in the future.
@@teruhashi6705 I do appreciate that! Cheers!
Yes! Please journal and pass it down, write about your life, the good, the bad, stuff you didn't think anyone should know. Write it down! I'm 27, and just completely finished one journal notebook. Will be starting a new one in the next coming days!
Do it! I'm rooting for you ✌️😁
@@bill_jennings thank you 🙏🏼
On my 3rd journaling year 😊 landed my dream job, dream career, got a raise, used my passport-finally, started rock climbing and over all broke free from my mental holds and got off the hamster wheel. It's also great for working through depression and stress. I look forward to watching your new journal videos each year. It's like touching base with someone who believes in you, even though we're strangers, lol
Thanks Clark 😊 and I hope the year has been great for you and your loved ones 🎄☃️
Tschüss ☕️
Oh yeah, And I started learning german 😊
Auf wiedersehen
That's awesome Heidi! Any tips to add for anyone just starting out?
Clark said something in an older video that really got the ball rolling for me and that was, "give yourself permission to not be perfect" or something like that, lol. Basically it's ok to mess up your spelling or to write sideways in your book, cause it's your book; for you. Me being dyslexic and OCD with my note writing, this helped me mentally forgive my simple mistakes and go over the edge to start.
At the end of each year I evaluate my sections and give them a ✅️ or a ❌️ if I'll use them for the next year.
Last year (or this year depending on how you look at it 2022) was pretty bare. Went through a lot of depression and stress. Had a lot of personal loss, was negative and didn't want to log or "keep" those thoughts. BUT I took it everywhere with me. I travel 100% for work and kept it on my hotel night stand every night. Just looking at it helped me cause I view it as growth, forward direction and a friend for my thoughts.
@@Nuggett33 that is really helpful, and I appreciate the sections tip too. Sorry '22 was a bit rocky for you. Remember, that which doesn't kill you only makes you stronger! And now, on to '23!!
@Hill Country
My 1st journal I did 2 Vision boards and my sections were:
1-Weekly Tracker
2-Health&Wellness
3-Career Notes
4-Financal Goals
5-Book Notes
6-Juke,Thoughts&Learning and
7-Brain Dump
It's a lot, but my mind was over loaded and it worked for me.
Now for 2023 I will be doing:
3 Vision boards
1-Weekly Tracker
2-Student
3-Extra Notes
4-Wellness
5-Forcast for the Year
6-Brain Dump
@@Nuggett33 I'm curious...you dropped the "financial goals". Any particular reason why?
I have severe ADHD and I started keeping a travelers type notebook. I have one for my business ideas, a seed book (this is just my random ideas about life, interests, 3 am thoughts), and a to do book that includes my shopping lists and addresses and important numbers. It's not pretty, it's not dated, but it has helped me tremendously in taking the leap into Journaling and it has helped me get my thoughts down in a central location...no more sticky notes everywhere. I take it in my purse wherever I go. It's not organized inside but it suits me and helps me stay on track. Also being able to look back over it is so helpful to me. Great tips in this video!!
Great video 👍🏼
Some additional tips from comments I've read.
1. There is no too late or too old. Your life starts, and is, now. Journaling will help you realize that start!
2. It's not about being good or bad at it. Be you! There is no test, it's for you only. Progress not perfection.
3. An amazing benefit to journaling: Getting thoughts and feelings out of your head and on paper. It allows you to see how they are separate. This will change your life.
4. Journaling allows you to free up space in your thoughts so you can be objective (seeing them from the outside), and, make room for more productive thoughts.
5. Write out what you're grateful for in your journal entries. Showing appreciation makes you happier and will actually build your confidence. Gratitude often shows you what you've achieved.
Happy Journaling!
@capscoaching
Thanks
Thank you for sharing 🙌
I think gratitude journals, even just writing one line a day, can transform one's outlook, attitude, health, everything.
I used to journal. Just yesterday I found my journal from 2005 and it was really enlightening. There is so much I have forgotten. I had no idea I had such rich relations with women and friends. It was an insight into everything. I am going to start this again.
great content, thank you

I lived as a Buddhist monk for 6 years and sporadically wrote a journal about the experiences and insight I had about my practice. Now that I've started my own channel wanting to share this to a wider audience I wish I had had this video to refer to earlier. I can go back to some degree but it's spread out everywhere and no real order to it. Truly some game changing advice here Clark, will be sure to implement some of it from now on.
Thank you for making this.
Namaste brother 🙏📿 so inspiring. I will go monk too in 2024
@@vitorojasavila Nice to hear Vito,
Have you decided where to ordain or will you leave and let things work themselves out?
I'll make a video sooner or later about how to actually become a monk but have a few topics I want to cover before that.
I’ve been journaling since 2005! Im 28 and I’m now rewriting it all into a concise readable book 📚 = 📕
Love your journaling tips Clark! This is the first year I’ve journaled every day (because of you) I’m going back through my journal and making a list of all the lessons I’ve learned, the things I’ve manifested, things that worked well, things that didn’t, and what to keep working on in 2023.. it’s such a gift to be able to do deep reflection.
Did you say three legs? Awesome. Special place in my heart for owners who have "disabled" dogs. I myself have a blind Boston Terrier.... no one would know he was blind. Dogs are amazing.
At about 8:58 you mentioned something about dormant strengths within. That's been sticking with me, and I've gone back a few times and scrubbed over that part again and again. I've decided to make that my journaling moto for 2023: Discovering My Dormant Strengths.
That is a cool idea, I never thought to make a journaling motto!
hey hill... an easy way to find out your most significant talents and develop dem to strengths is gallup institute. Thats also scientificly proven. it changed my life :)) best regards Marvin
@@MarvinWuerzner thanks for that lead. I appreciate it. Have a blessed New Year Marvin.
Love this!
nice
I think you're the only person I've ever heard that has actively advised AGAINST making Journaling an obligation, a daily task, and now I'm really excited to try and journal again
I have been following your journaling plan since 2016 and was a client of your 6-figure youtube course. Since then, I have been killing it in my investments and content creation. Thanks for all you do.
So his courses actually work?
I've always been a goal-setter and really feel it has contributed to the many successes I've had in my life.
Many years ago, I encountered this quote and it motivated me to start setting goals instead of just leaving things to chance: "If you aim at nothing, you're bound to hit it." That pretty much summed it up for me!
Thanks for your inspirational videos, Clark, and have a great 2023! 🎆
2:50 one of the reasons I never started is that I thought I waited too long and it wouldn't be as valuable, but that little bit where you mentioned that you were in your twenties when you started and that's what pushed me, I'm starting today. (Good thing my brother got me a fancy leather journal for Christmas)
Getting ready to make a new journal for 2023! I love the journal with no lines / blank ! It’s amazing to see the process from 2022. Love the fit 🧛♀️
I think the idea of counting down days is a horrid idea! I may be quite motivating for some people, but not for me. Neither do I wish to optimise my play. My work is good and I love it that I don’t have to set my own goals. When I go home I no longer think about it at all. Such freedom! I use several journals, because there are so many beautiful notebooks. I have recently begun to write morning pages and they certainly are not for keeping, but such fun, sitting quietly and see bits of your life pour onto the page and see the richness of it. I have journaled from 14 to 46 years and then stopped, because it was entirely aimless. Then, at my mothers funeral the receptionist of my mums doctor shook my hand with tears in her eyes. And a thought struck me: “I must become a better person”, so I started journaling again, took my yoga more seriously and began meditating. So my journaling is more exploratory, less goal oriented.
Long story short, follow Clarks advice or someone elses, but journal. You’ll find out who you are. If you don’t like aspects of yourself you can change them.
The write down the days you have left method is for sure powerful but not always in a good way. I am in my mid-fifties and I don't deal well with how much time I have left even if everything goes well. If I would write down the number of days and see it every day it would put me in a very depressed mood and paralize me. I think the older you get, the more counterproductive this method can be. What I do instead is writing down how many days, hours and minutes a year or a month has. This works better for me.
That said - this video is the best I saw in a long time, especially about journaling.
Tbh, im in my twenties and ur approach resonates better, thank you
everybody is different whatever works for you!
You inspired me to start journaling !! I never imagined I’d be so consistent but i actually love talking to to myself so I thought I might as well document it lol
In only 5min you made my anxious mind scream 2 times! lol
I don't deal well with the idea of dividing a notebook into sessions. Anxiety asks "What if I need more pages for this session? or if I don't use all of those other ones?" So when I managed to calm down by thinking "Worst case scenario, you have 2 journals in a year: the areas you are still filling in one and the one you started because needed more pages. And you can adjust the amount of pages you separate as you learn about yourself."
But... Then you said "next year start a new journal even if your old one still have empty pages" and my mind went "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
So maybe instead of using a notebook with fixed pages, use a binder to which you can add a few pages if needed? I think it can be helpful for you ;)
I have an all in one journal: bullet journal/gratitude-5 minute journal/journal journal. Some days I write a lot, some days I make a to do list and keep it pushing.
Thanks for this, Clark. I got into these videos from you around this time last year when I was looking for a way to journal that would work for me. I started off quite well, in fact the way I was going, I thought I was going to fill it before halfway through the year. Then I lost my motivation/inspiration as I found I didn't get the formatting right for me. I tend to be a massive perfectionist, which didn't help. This video has got me feeling freshly inspired. I know I need to spend some time reflecting and making sure I can set it up to be more effective than last year, while being wary of my perfectionism. I think what I need is a section where I can do some journalling everyday for my wellbeing and improvement as a man. The other sections can be whenever inspiration comes, but I know I need to build this up as as a habit as well.
If anyone else took their time to read this and has any insights based on their experience, I would be grateful to receive a response.
May 2023 be a wonderful year full of learning and happiness for us all.
Peace and love.
I started keeping a consistent journal in 2013 as a writing exercise. While not consistent daily, I am on my 10th year of keeping a journal. When I saw your video, it made me curious as to what you did with your journal. Your philosophy and structure intrigued me enough to consider approaching 2023 differently based on your approach. Thanks for posting the video and sharing the information.
This is a cool concept. Ultimately, it seems like journaling helps you become more self-aware-which anyone can benefit from. Thanks for sharing such detailed description of your process.
I am so grateful to the universe for sending me your way! Love and respect Clark
This video is such a synchronicity for me! Last week I used little sticky tabs I had to divide up the sketchbook I’ve been randomly writing in… definitely going to take some of these tips and utilize them 😊😊
Every year I wait your journal video. Absolutely love it. I journal since I am 14…. And I’m 38 right now 😎
2023 will be my fifth year of using this journaling method. It has made all the difference in my life and business.
You're actually incredible my brother keep going I appreciate the content
I am on my third journal, started the first in 2018 but didn’t keep one regularly till last year. I decided to add in a 5yr this year so I build the daily habit. My regular one which is more periodic and I usually write several pages at a time, so having a snapshot of each day is perfect for a daily habit.
Love reading everyone's comments.. you guys are a treasure trove of information and insights..
I started journaling this year and did such a horrible job at it. My journal is kindda empty and the days I did write it was all negative things. I was going to continue with that one, but I will get a new one for 2023 and start again. Thanks for all the tips.
Hand writing is nectar to the soul. You need to had write. I am 65 and have journaled for 50 years. Are all my journals compleat? No but then there are some that ther are multiples some years. As the kids grew up I have now more time to write and dream…. It is all good all the time! You will see how to making things come to fruition is an life goal even if it is not written. It is Ok to write in hind sight.. Kudos to you.
Great Video..not too many like it thanks Clark. I do spirit journals for when I meditate or call on my guides.. dream journals than scripting/ law of attraction journaling for when you write your intentions you are taking energy (your desires), and manifesting them into form (written words) which is EXACTLY what manifestation using the law of attraction is.. VERY POWERFUL TOOL!
Amazing video. I've been using a journal since May 2021. Although I don't really go back through it much, when I do. It makes me happy to see how far I've come and how much I've changed.
I am using journals for many years and I can feel that it's working. This year I will do as you recommend. I want to try something new and fight my fear. Your videos are awesome and motivating.
I really appreciate that it seems you are actually trying to help people
If you are into book binding, you can make your own journals too, design them to look however you want.
This is what I did because I make journals lol
Wow thanks so much for this video Clark. My New Year's Resolution for 2023 is to start journaling. The video came exactly when it was needed.
I feel like I could so benefit from this. I watched the video on your website and the ideas behind the course seem really intriguing. I have been watching self improvement content for the longest time and feel like I still need someone to just hold my hand and get me started. I am going to be 30 soon and just feel like I still have no idea how to envision a better life for myself and even then how to even start.
Love blank pages over ruled!! And so I started journaling this year. 5days now. And I get now why we shouldnt put date for journal a day! "Do it out of inspiration, not obligation" I like that!
Thanks for sharing. I definitely going to use a few ideas! Stay strong on your goals for 2023!
This is probably the best information about journaling that has crossed my path. Thank you! Just subscribed to your channel!
I went and bought my first journal. I like to know what I am doing and have structure, but this time I will just start. Make that first step and put pen to paper. Then I will learn as I go and progress and improve with each day. Thank you for sharing this video. Wat is mind blowing is the amount of days we have on this earth and I have wasted way too many already. I love your channel and I am glad I came across it. 🙏🙏 I get overwhelmed easily and I know that is my weakness, but I will change that this year. I am not perfect and I will embrace my flaws and get on with it.
Yeah!!!!! Merry Christmas Clark!
I’ve been waiting for this!
Babe to say this is the best video I've seen on journaling and moreso the mindset behind it. Soiod stuff 🙏🏼
Thank you so much for this. I have been journaling on and off for years. The good part is that when I am on, I am successful. When I am off, I am... stalled? So, I don't take that as a bad necessarily, I take it as proof that journaling works. And, it works for ME! So, here's to a successful 2023. Thanks Clark!
On my first journal! I started in August so will close my year in august next year. Thanks for your content is has helped me a lot!
this is probably the longest commercial I've ever watched (if you count out the old westerns), but you've pitched it well - it was insightful.
I absolutely love journaling! It allows me to indulge in expressive writing ❤❤❤❤
Me too....such an eye opener over time. You really can see your A HA moments when it's on paper and after time goes by and you reflect on it. Happy journaling!! It's so therapeutic!
Thanks for good videos😊 Started to write journals 3 years ago. Wanted to improve my health, and the journaling has helped a lot.
Thank you for this video, this got me going! I find now I’m loving my journaling, I find myself getting fancier with my words and writing skills. 📓⚙️🖊
I read my journals I kept in high school and I love to read them and see where things in my life progressed I’m 26 and I read the one from when I was 16 a lot
Great video! I had started watching videos on journaling for a couple of days and I am glad I came across your video. Blank pages is the way to go! ;)
I’ve been journaling for 14 years. It’s changed my life.
its pretty crazy , ive seen some of his videos for journaling and tbh nothing clicked that fire and last night i was accepting knowledge for journaling beacuse i found myself dangling in herd of doubts and when i went with acceptance of knowledge clarke kegley gave me practical scene of tracking life progess . and i was amazed by the tips and 6 in one rule and in a nutshell everythign made sense .
Grest simple invention. A wheel chair being able to run on the sand! Brilliant! And so simple thst millions of people need! I like that! 🔥
Great content Clark...love the cape, didn't realize how playful you can be.
Love your work!
I stopped watching big names like Tony Robbins just to have more time to watch yours. And focus on your 2.0 Version mini course.
Thank you Clark for keeping changing my life and upgrading me with your wisdom.
Great tips! I have never been consistent in my journaling. Now I see why!
I love that your penmanship is the same as mine… After i write, sometimes i have no idea what i wrote!!! Soo i never really started continued a journal 😢
In addition to journaling, if I have a particularly bad day, I write a letter on FutureMe to one year in the future. Whenever I receive one from the past, it’s a reminder that things pass
Great video Clark!
I completely agree! My current journal is almost full so I need to buy one in the next week.
That's amazing... I will really love to watch or read your works if possible ☺️...
Wishing you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, stay happy healthy and safe beautiful friend 🤗
This something I want to start asap, I feel so lost, not even know what I want that 2.0 to look like
I just got a journal for Christmas I needed this
Haha thanks Dracula I've been looking forward to this video all year!
I was like, thank God, you are bringing capes back!
I love your channel!!
Thanks, man!🙏🏼
Great insight! Thank you
Ok, you literally look amazing in a cape. You need to find a way to bring them into your daily life, cuz 🔥 🔥 🔥
Probably the most accurate guide out there
I've been repeating to mys3lf lately I have all the answers I need inside god didn't make me incomplete. I spend all day looking up thing and researching and asking, instead of just listening
Wow. I had no idea. Everything makes sense. Thanks for the tips 👍
Love this video!
Thank you 🇺🇸🕊☮️🌴💕😘💜🦩🐬🧚♀️
I've been journaling since I was kid but I threw it all away in 2022 because I was reading it and man, what a negative person, i want to be a better person this year and i started to journaling again.. it was a mess before and now I'm gonna put dates on them :) I'm 24, turning 25 this year and am doing this for improvement
thankyou clark.
A really interesting video. So, I’ve found the secret to journal tutoring is the ability to tune in to your students passions and create/tailor the basic principle to their desired outcome. There is no ‘one box fits all with journaling’ and I’d be interested in discussing my findings and teachings further with you
My thought process brought me to gee id love to see Clark hang out with Ryan Reynolds. Loving this journaling concept can't wait to move from notes to my journal
You can always add a decorative cover to your journal after you retire it. Bang it. Work it hard. Fix it up later. Great video BTW! Digging your costume.
Holy sh*t Clark you’re talking about me! I have an extra copy saved for you if you want it! You changed my life and I am forever grateful. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@whatsapp4287 I have reported you.
I’ve been writing down what I do everyday fir the last…….had to think, in 90’s. I just write what I do but this way yiu do is better. Thanks.
not going to lie i clicked on this video because I saw that you were wearing a cape... I am so glad that I did!!!! 😂😂
wow this was very helpful, thankyou so much
I think the biggest thing for me, from this presentation, was the 'Inspiration, not Obligation' bit.
I know that the 'do it because you can, not because you should' advice has been around forever, but it never seems to stick in my head.
I like the the analogue nature of this approach, I think it could fit well with the PKM/Obsidian stuff I'm doing as well as the Ikigai analysis I've been toying with.
I love thissss
You truly are an ENTJ!
Good analogy with the jungle !!!!
I LOVE YOUR COSTUME! 😃👏❤️ please wear one for every video!!!
I love you for this video
If I can like this more than once I would've 10x it by the time I finished the video lol! Thanks Clark
One question though: How do you keep your reflexions private and the journals safe? Preventing someone else (that you are sharing your living space with) from reading your deepest thoughts.
This is great for learning other language.. I use it to write in English, I learn a lot and when I look back I can see my mistakes, also nobody near me knows English so they don't know what I wrote
This is my hugest concern, I feel like I can’t be completely honest about my most private thoughts, bc of the fear of someone reading it. It’s not likely, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility, so I feel restricted in what I can say, and that kind of restricts the benefits of journaling.
I wish I could get over that fear
@JACKIE that is a great recommendation!!! I should have done this when I was a child. I stopped journaling because my family read what I was sharing there. Think my mom can even use google translate if she is super determined 🤔. Yep, it's time to learn Japanese 😉
I realized via your post just how much better my relationship is compared to my ex.
My partner sees my diary daily. He would never touch it without my permission
I’m glad I stopped by.
Very inspirational. So much that the same day I watched this video I went out and bought a sketchbook when I didn't wanna go out anymore.
PS saw on your cover journal you wrote your personality ENFJ. Very cool!
Thanks Clark 👍
