+Mystic Dragon Gaming It's funny. Gamespot complained about the combat, IGN praised the combat. Who's right? The GS reviewer seems to have taken the game too personally. LIke how GS reviewers always does.
100% agree this game took me by surprise a bit but it's everything I dreamed about in a Mad Max game, i always wanted this and it delivers. Played for hours mostly just playing in it's world, only 31% complete.
+TopShot501st Ya these dev's should just be in charge of every movie based game. First was middle earth shadow of mordor during the 3rd hobbit film and now this.
yeah i was surprised when they started the game two years ago as its own mad max experience, and even better they communicated with the fury road producers to bring some aspects from the movie too an to also be on a similar page when coming to create a mad max universe, in conclusion this game looks amazing. im not a fan of mgs gameplay so wasnt even planning on getting another game this september with forza 6 being on my mind but this game will def. keep me occupied till it comes out
This is one of if not the most underrated game of all time. Remember how people sometimes say, dont listen to the critics, well, this one wrote the book on that. One of the best sandbox games to come out. I even had more fun in this than Witcher 3 or MGSv. Yes this may not be as polished or deep, but boy is this game a hell lot of fun. If youre a Mad Max fan, this is a must buy, enough said. I hope they make a sequel, and that would stop all the hate.
This game is excellent. The visuals, the customization, the combat, the car combat, the story and the 'storm' is just amazing. I loved this game. One of the best I've ever played. A solid 9.5 for me.
+TheGamerTronShow They're just kids who are too poor to afford both games, so they feel the need to shit on this one. Its literally sour grapes trolling.
***** im not on the bandwagon i started the bandwagon. kojima is a great guy and konami are fuckheads who ruined 4 franchises killing off two. mgs is a shadow. you sire are the moron for buyng mgs5 and supporting the fuckheads at konami enjoy paywalls. ill paly a game i odnt have to buy the content ive already paid for.
+Olaf Lesniak Ok you guys do realize he's saying overshadowed because it comes out the same day so people will have to choose which to play and/or get. He's not saying every great game that comes out within the next year is going to overshadow it. Majority of people who want Mad Max would have gotten it by the time of Fallout and Tomb Raider.
+Bruce Kovalks Wayne This guys sucks at games so its more like easy game 10/10 game you need skill 5/10. Im not buying this game I really think it would be way to easy for me if the person at gamespot said its easy and this guy never was crying to hard must be mad easy.
+Bruce Kovalks Wayne Not survival enough 6/10 Gamespot. Seriously the guy from GS gave it 15h of gameplay (to an open world game like this) and than slaps 6 to it. He basically went through story just to put qickest (and unfair)
I'm probably the one person on the planet who is looking forward to Mad Max more than MGS5. I don't even care about MGS5 at all to be honest. Oh what a day! What a lovely day!!
Sadly idiots are everywhere nowadays. I've been following MGS since the first one, have even a game poster on my wall, but you'll never see me around talking nonsense about other games, much less follow those hype trains of hell... I guess I was one of the few who also liked RAGE and was hoping for a sequel. I believe that with Mad Max I can meet my need, I was missing something like that in this genre.
+ThaRedPitbull Yes, it is. I can confirm %100. I have many $20 games off there including this game, Arkham Knight(great port *not really*), and The Witcher 3 etc.
+ThaRedPitbull G2A is totally legit, I've bought loads of games through them. You can tell if a seller is good or bad. But use it man, its a great site!
This game looks good but Warner Bros shot themselves in the foot when they decided to release it on the same day as MGS V. Looks like I'll be picking this up when there seems to be a gap in releases.
+BlackArro Productions i got this first insted of MGS5 since i didnt finish all the MGS games so far. I on PC so i have to emulate them but i can run MGS3 with 10k resolution so its nice. And about this game. It is very good so far. 1 hour in
+Pofski Why does everyone keep saying that? Two completely different games, some with go with one and some will go with the other. Everyone else will buy both or buy a Disney game. ;)
I got this game last year with the ps plus and decided to give it a try. At first, I was skeptical but later on it became one of the most memorable and enjoyavble game I had ever played.
got this on a trade. I traded my infamous first light for this. i cant believe the dude I got this from traded it lol. I think I got a steal from that trade. this is really underrated and will be a hidden gem on this console generation. man I just wish it had a difficulty option. but still even it has none, its pretty hard at times. I died twicr already lol
I'm playing it right now and man it's great. But gotta say it would be the best if alien isolation didn't exist. You gotta play it if you haven't. It's a borderline masterpiece that's true to the original movies.
+conrick Batman wasn't as much of a slugger as the Max footage. More refined and powerful. Sleeping Dogs was specific martial arts. While not as smooth Sleeping Dogs combat had one benefit over the others and that was street fighter style combos that you could add in while in a fight. It gave it way more depth than just paying attention for timing the button press. Here's hoping for a Sleeping Dogs 2
Got both this and MGS 5. Gotta say both are just as fun with huge open worlds and an amazing lack of boundaries in terms of story. Both let you do it your own way, roll when you want and with what you want. Man, just look at the old days when all games would be linear and straight to the point. The idea of random events and countless activities in an open world just changes stuff so much. Sometimes, the game's story is not really the one you will hold dearly as a memory, but the way you did this and that and the way that you actually "lived" in that world. Anyways, if I gotta choose one, I'd say MGS. More content, more variety and so much more choice. But hell, for damn sure I enjoy driving around the wasteland shooting up goons and building an awesome V8. Gotta say this one gets you quite pumped and you are gonna seek parts for hours until you make your Magnum Opus really yours. Guess it is up to the player though. Both are gonna imerse you in their world quite well.
+VirgilTheMob MGS fan, but it was tough deciding which to get. Mad Max looks amazing, but the thought of majority of games based on film are disappointing led me to skip MM. I think I was wrong as it looks fun to play. Definite buy soon. If you're thinking MGS5 is a realistic, tactical game, here's a friendly warning: it's not. Supernatural elements are present, always have been in the MGS series. This is one of the complaints I've seen by newbies in Let's Plays along with confusion in what's happening and the long ass prologue.
***** I gotta say Mad Max is not based on any Mad Max film, just the universe, just like Shadow of Mordor has nothing to do with The Lord of The Rings series. The story, the characters and most of the locations are original but they have been created by Avalanche along with George Miller, the "father" of the Mad Max universe. So the "games based on films suck" idea, which is actually real in most cases, can not be applied. Also, I did not mean the game was realistic. It has plenty of quirky elements(cardboard box so op) and supernatural ones as well, but the stealth system is less forgiving than in other stealth game, which makes it actually challenging, through the almost realistic enemy AI. Well, at least you have reflex mode to save you if you are spotted, but you can disable it just as well. Overall, it is a solid stealth game with a very thoughtful enemy AI which even adapts to your moves to a certain extent. I preordered both for very good prices and I am alternating between them, but I gotta say Mad Max seems a little more fun than MGS, maybe due to the awesome car combat and all the exploring you can do in order to find scrap for upgrades, but MGS is still an awesome stealth game, just because everything can be done in so many ways and using the Fulton is hella fun. Anyways, both games are great, but the game of the year is probably gonna be Phantom Pain, unless some simple minded, "atmospheric" game *cough*Journey*cough* comes out and fills the critic's hears with joy and their wallets with cash.
Just started playing MM 2 days ago and wow this game is hella fun. It's def. one of the best movie games out there, the movie was great too. Graphics, gameplay and the open world are amazing. Feels like a serious version of Borderlands. The game will shorten my time until Yakuza 6 and GoW comes out this month!
+klarkus I hear what you're saying but MGS5 has been described as being "sparse" on story and the enjoyment of the game really rests mostly with the gameplay systems, which are so rich and borrow from other popular games. It won't be AS enjoyable but I think for the most part the game will be accessible to non-fans.
***** Not even close, what your saying would make sense if the game was story driven but it's gameplay driven, any new player can play it easily. Mad max is not even remotely rare, it's a generic, repetitive beat em up, a false open world game often forcing you into linear areas for combat, a vast wasteland with the same guard post over and over, it's gets boring after 7 hours and is overall a weak, average game at best. Not to mention the same batman wanna be fighting and uninteresting story and characters, especially that lord of the rings wanna be hobo.
Recently picked it up and I haven't played anything else since, the beautiful large open world that's there to explore. And not without reason, the scrap to be found, bases to be taken back from Scrotus and Stank Gum camps helps a lot in leveling up the Magnum Opus and Max. Moving along to combat, I have to say I don't know what the reviewer at GameSpot looks for. Yes it may not be your DMC, Or For Honor. It may be one button to unleash random attacks and the other to counter. But trust me the attention to detail in the brutality of Maxs' combat makes you forget that you're just hitting a single button. Once you get the timing right you actually look forward to the bases with hordes of enemies. And that's just the ground combat, the vehicle combat is even more mind blowing. My gosh there is so much I could say about this game and how underrated it is. But I have to say this is one of the best open world games I've played. Props to Avalanche studios
Spaceman24 I like this game, because it's fun to see your car getting more powerful and cool. it's suitable for me who don't have much time to play game
Im playing thru it again now. Such a fun and satisfying game. On Series X it gets auto hdr and 60 fps. Its looks hold up well enough. The game looks downright gorgeous at times.
+FaZzy mgs5 will suck. microtransactioned riddled pile of shit. ill be buying this which has no microtransactions, doesnt have its main creator removed from the box and wont complete suck. but yeah you buy the inferior game.
Inder Indo of course microtransactions arent required the fact they are in a what £50 game is unforgivable. plus konami are fuckheads who removed kojima because they are idiots. kojima probably made something great but from what ive seen mgs5 is nothing like that. i stand uncorrected mgs5 is unworthy of anyones time.
I absolutely love this game. Driving is fun but the best part is the hand to hand combat. The hits feel powerful and actually seems like you are doing damage
I wish the vehicle controls were a little more responsive, however. Other than that, this is the most fun I've had playing a game since GTA5 was released. Here it is 2020 and I JUST discovered this game? Love when that happens. Favorite moment, was having a hard time finding the last fuel drum in a camp and was in cover from a storm. What happens? Lighting bolt hits it. Gotta love it.
Thank you for the well thought-out and written review! I also liked how you let the fighting gameplay show at the end since it helped me understand how visceral it would feel like.
Better than most games. Much better. It NAILS the Mad Max universe so hard that even the movies seem subpar compared to it. Extremely underrated even with the occasional repetition.
I like the mad max universe, and this game fits all of it perfectly into it. However, if there were a way to play with friends online against other players, or with other players, the game could be so much more.
Playing this game in 2021.A truly hidden gem in the PS4 generation. If you see tis game get it. Itll probably be on sale for a steal for the amount of fun youll have.
The most underrated game Mad Max came out around the same time as the most overrated game of all time Metal Gear Solid 5 I mean the gameplay was fine but the story was a confusing mess even by Kojima standards.
I just finished this game. I enjoyed it a LOT! However, I wish it had a higher difficulty mode which will allow you to replay from the start but with all your Magnum Opus fully equipped and maxed out skills.
I played through it three times already, yet again installing it another time. This game is amazing, yes the combat does seem to be the same as Batman series but this one is much more vicious.
Nice! on 1:53 you can see that there is one more jacket upgrade after the Militia Panel Leather one. It's probably the classic Road Warrior outfit, that Max wears in the very first cutscene. Definitely a secret outfit, since they cut the the vid right when they select the upgrade.
From Nov, 2024: I'm having an absolute blast playing this underrated gem on the steam deck. Pluses: -Great voice acting -Lots of enemy variety -Awesome skills and combat perks -Amazing vehicular and hand-to-hand combat -Wonderful creative writing and story telling that gets you to reflect on your own humanity -Great ecosystem and living world -CONS -collectibles can get annoying or feel like a chore but still somewhat worth it in the end -The developers hate you and secretly program this game to sidetrack you and make you rage -rare weird glitches -Mad Max is not as mobile as he can be when it comes to verticality. But still a great bargain game if you never played it. I'd seriously give 9/10
GameSpot: 6/10 - we also spoil the end boss.
IGN: 8.4/10 - ^ don't listen to them.

+Mystic Dragon Gaming Thanks for the heads up. I was just about to watch the gamespot review.
I'd definitely give this game a try if I were you. It's very underrated
my only problem is that it's a kind of short game
One of the best games of recent times, i think everybody should play it!
100% agree this game took me by surprise a bit but it's everything I dreamed about in a Mad Max game, i always wanted this and it delivers. Played for hours mostly just playing in it's world, only 31% complete.
Smoking Samoria no it's not it is 10/10 the worst game I've EVER played EVERRRRR
Some people , me included , just cant stand that batman combat .
Definitely an underrated game.
Liam Johnson underrated to the Max ..... get it ?.... No ?? .... Maybe ? 😑lol
Yep really liked this game....Wish they made a sequel
Its under publicised not under rated
ikr
Mean Max trust me they tried to make just one 4 times if they even think about making another one it’ll be once in a blue moon sadly
Ha and I thought this game was just a cash grab for the movie... quite a pleasant surprise to see a good movie to video adaptation... for once.
+TopShot501st Ya these dev's should just be in charge of every movie based game. First was middle earth shadow of mordor during the 3rd hobbit film and now this.

Ghostbusters
Alien Isolation
Spider-Man 2
For once, yeah. Of course.
I hope avalanche studio is going to make a Mad Max 2, this game deserves a sequel.
I like that idea
@Dark Night rage 2 is not a sequel to mad max not even somewhat there 2 separate games in separate universes.
Please
I would like a sequel where max gets taken into the thunder dome arena
Rage 2 is mad max sequel we never expected
possibly the most underrated game of 2015

This and Until Dawn were some pleasant surprises.
+Westernrulerx meh just a fps game
***** also a stupid dude bro game
+Westernrulerx You don't understand what a pleasant surprise is huh? No one expected Until Dawn(a new IP) or Mad Max(a movie tie in game) to be great.
+Westernrulerx But Halo 5 is expected to be good. For games like Until Dawn and Mad Max everyone expects them to be 'meh' but turn out great.
+TheKestevon Just a fps that made online shooters for consoles what they are today,There I fixed it for you since you wanna be an ass for no reason.

What's with all these MGS fans and trolls in the comments section? Last I checked this was a Mad Max video.

+TheGamerTronShow lmfao if you go over to the MGS:V review, you see the same thing with all the mad max trolls
+TheChronoGamer it technically came out the day before mgs 5
One of the most underrated games ever made.
I have this game on PC and I keep coming back to it because of how much fun it is

+klarkus No it's not story heavy, it's a million times better then this with only the gameplay.
Who’s here because Mad Max is free on PlayStation 4?
Angel Ramirez Yep, checking to see if it’s worth deleting some other games for storage space lol
Spaceman24 I like this game, because it's fun to see your car getting more powerful and cool. it's suitable for me who don't have much time to play game
With gold if you had gold and you still have to bay for gold
Why would you watch a review if the game is free? Just get it...
Mega JimmyHat to see if it’s worth your time. Time is valuable to a lot of people..
Anyone else played this in 2024? Still feels incomplete if you don’t complete all the outpost 100%
Im playing thru it again now. Such a fun and satisfying game. On Series X it gets auto hdr and 60 fps. Its looks hold up well enough. The game looks downright gorgeous at times.
One of the best photo modes ever
Just driving around Magnum Opas on my steam deck. running on 60 fps.
Gimme which i desire,
U yeah (j. Hetfield)
+Evli ve Oyuncu :D
best underrated metallica record
actually it's 9 bucks now on PSN and Xbox live .. I might pull the trigger
I know I bought it. I like it.
Underrated.
CRIMINALLY… underrated.
Definitely a wrong choice of review background music.
I feel like a Nemesis system would have fit perfectly in this game too, haha.
I can't wait to walk right pass this game tomorrow to pick up my MGS5 copy.
I don't have to walk because my Limited Edition Phantom Pain PS4 will be here by Saturday and my Collectors Edition by tomorrow.
+FaZzy mgs5 will suck. microtransactioned riddled pile of shit. ill be buying this which has no microtransactions, doesnt have its main creator removed from the box and wont complete suck. but yeah you buy the inferior game.
+FaZzy Nice, admitting you cant afford more than one game, whats wrong, mommy wont give you and advance on your allowance?.
+Jason B Or maybe he doesn't want to play it??
Inder Indo of course microtransactions arent required the fact they are in a what £50 game is unforgivable. plus konami are fuckheads who removed kojima because they are idiots. kojima probably made something great but from what ive seen mgs5 is nothing like that. i stand uncorrected mgs5 is unworthy of anyones time.
Just finished the game, it's bloody amazing.
Avalanche killed it with this game, I’m back again starting it all over again for the 3rd time
Hopefully one day we'll get a new game.
Loved this game so much. Completed it and sold it a long time ago. I’m definitely going to buy it again, I miss it so much.
I absolutely love this game. Driving is fun but the best part is the hand to hand combat. The hits feel powerful and actually seems like you are doing damage
It's on sale for $4.99 on the Xbox store
Buying now for 5 buck's
Personally I really loved this game for me it's a 10/10 I really enjoyed my time playing it. The fighting system especially is awesome.
“Just walk away. You can put a stop to all this, if you’ll just walk away.”
This is a solid game.. needs way more Credit, Nothing short of brilliant.. underrated
Not a bad review, but PLEASE buy this reviewer a better mike.
+Abel Villa (The Cynic) I'm pretty sure he knows he fucked up his spelling you don't need to point out the obvious
Its mic
+SixCubit Nothing wrong with his mic
That's very insensitive, he just broke up with Mike...
Greg Comito *You're*
I wish the vehicle controls were a little more responsive, however. Other than that, this is the most fun I've had playing a game since GTA5 was released. Here it is 2020 and I JUST discovered this game? Love when that happens. Favorite moment, was having a hard time finding the last fuel drum in a camp and was in cover from a storm. What happens? Lighting bolt hits it. Gotta love it.
7.8/10 too much sand
6/10 too much Max
0/10 too much cars
This joke is getting annoying.
KingBlobzGamer 10/10 Best joke ever
4/20 too much weed
This game deserves a sequel.
I had a blast playing it
Thank you for the well thought-out and written review! I also liked how you let the fighting gameplay show at the end since it helped me understand how visceral it would feel like.
This guy knows how to review a game! Something that’s been lost in the last 3 to 4 years.
Free on April 2018 PS Plus!
Better than most games. Much better. It NAILS the Mad Max universe so hard that even the movies seem subpar compared to it.
Extremely underrated even with the occasional repetition.
Anyone here after they announced its going to be free next month?
free for ps+ members for April 2018 starting today.
no more excuses, just go play it.
Added this to my library from PS plus ages ago and never touched until just now. It's a superb game.
$3 on steam .... worth it
sgtGmaster free on playstation plus! Get rkt!
Free on ps4 ... worth it
HercuLex deleted after 20 mins :(
Build DeWall tf yyyy
Signups Only couldnt get into it tbh, seems like a solid game but just not for me :(
Easily some of the best car combat to ever be put into a game.
Atmosphere:10/10
I like the mad max universe, and this game fits all of it perfectly into it. However, if there were a way to play with friends online against other players, or with other players, the game could be so much more.
I love how he talks about it like its a perfect game but in the end he gives it an 8.4
Had so much fun with this game, hope there's a sequel.
What a surprise, a well put video review from an IGN.
Going for the platinum right now, what a masterpiece
Playing this game in 2021.A truly hidden gem in the PS4 generation. If you see tis game get it. Itll probably be on sale for a steal for the amount of fun youll have.
@@ionicreviews just got it 3$ on steam for my z1 extreme 😅
I live, I die, I live again.
I actually got so addicted to this game I thought it was the best I’ve played in a long time.
Only things missing are the BIG vehicles.
11.99$ physical copy at best buy right now
Thanks 😊
charlie mora 11.99$ xbox store rn
charlie mora just bought it for 7.99
Victor Cardena hows the game so far?
Nice! Can't go wrong with buying it for 8 bucks
Here in 2022 to play this gem
Great game to play now that furiosa is out !!!! Witness meee !!!
This game is like Uncharted & Batman had a baby!
Shame there wasn't a Mel or Tom skin DLC 😢😢😢BUT GREAT GAME
it was on sale on steam this weekend. Got for dirt cheap. Great stuff!
I know this is an old video but just in case someone sees this comment and is on the fence about it. It runs beautifully on a powerful PC.
Mad MAX seems like a good game for a licence game.
On a side note, this is what RAGE(Game) should have been.
TheCommentGuy8 Rage was a good game just had that horrible lame ending
I played through it three times already, yet again installing it another time.
This game is amazing, yes the combat does seem to be the same as Batman series but this one is much more vicious.
Anybody else notice the inadvertant spoiler at 00:13?
Anyone else aboard the hype train for MGS5?
No ground zero sucked
+Trademarc4ever but that was only a demo, but to be fair you had to pay for it and it was only 2 hours
No
No only brainwashed nerds r lmao
+BasedGodMcRem hyporocrital comment of the day
Man this looks like fun. Definitely interested now. Maybe I will get it somewhere down the line.
Nice! on 1:53 you can see that there is one more jacket upgrade after the Militia Panel Leather one. It's probably the classic Road Warrior outfit, that Max wears in the very first cutscene. Definitely a secret outfit, since they cut the the vid right when they select the upgrade.
Even car driving is much better than NFS heat, in my opinion
I missed Chumbucket tho..
-2019
Top 5 bargain bin pick up for me, was truly surprised how engaging the driving is, so much fun
Who's here bc of ps plus?
Cooking Sauce me
I just enter pink eye territory, so far so good. This game is suitable for who don't have much time to play game
It makes me really sad that this game sold so low that we wont be getting a sequal :((
warner bros fault for wanting to compete with mgsv.
From Nov, 2024: I'm having an absolute blast playing this underrated gem on the steam deck.
Pluses:
-Great voice acting
-Lots of enemy variety
-Awesome skills and combat perks
-Amazing vehicular and hand-to-hand combat
-Wonderful creative writing and story telling that gets you to reflect on your own humanity
-Great ecosystem and living world
-CONS
-collectibles can get annoying or feel like a chore but still somewhat worth it in the end
-The developers hate you and secretly program this game to sidetrack you and make you rage
-rare weird glitches
-Mad Max is not as mobile as he can be when it comes to verticality.
But still a great bargain game if you never played it. I'd seriously give 9/10
Am I the only one here because it is on PS Store flash sale?
