Thank you for sharing - my grandfather always said “if you have one boy, you have good help. If you have two boys, you have half the help and if you have three boys you have no help”. Hahaha! I laughed when I saw three boys standing around eating the beans and it reminded me of this saying.

The problem of today's society is that parents have stopped teaching their children how to think for themselves, be responsible, and be respectful. I just did a prayer earlier today for Jesus to help me with my learning canning and to be able to create the ideal meals suitable for my needs. I had been wondering after seeing a couple videos before why beans look so lifeless and then I saw another video you made and you show your cellar with jars on the shelves and I was like 'this lady knows what she is doing' because your jars of food look all nice and green and fresh LOL and then the Lord takes me next and I search for beans on your channel and whala....sure enough another prayer answered. Your boys ate a full meal of green beans during the process. I laughed seeing the puffed out cheeks stuffed with the string beans as they were stuffing the jars! 😂 When I was a girl, my mom used to sit me outside at the picnic table on a nice day to snap the beans for dinner. It always seemed like a mountain I would never be able to conquer. Unfortunately I didn't have a couple of siblings to help me. Everytime I buy string beans now, I think about those days. We've been adding zinc to our green beans and pickles forever. In the old days, they put a zinc penny in the jars. A few years after they started making zinc vitamins, we started adding a zinc tablet to each jar. It makes the color great, but also keeps them a crisper.

Just saw your video on water canning Tomato Sauce. I t brought back so many memories of my family's much younger days. My father brought a 55 gallon metal drum. He cut it into 2. in one half he cut out a nice size hole about three thirds up. Followed by cutting rebar black steal. Then in the other half he set on top and filled it about half way with water making sure the water would be over the top of the jars. He started a fire in the bottom. Mother had 50 are so can jars full of green beans to can. Dad toke 24 bottoms, put them in the warming water. once the water started to bowl he keep the water bowling for 3 hours. Let it set over night to cool. Never again did they have problems of not sealing jars . Mom always said it was her bowling the leads right before use. I think it was a little of bother. the some of ever thing were used until recently. God be With.

I am so happy I tried this method! I actually picked up a few more “pearls” that will make my green bean process a little easier. Sometimes we get stuck in a rut doing it the same way and it becomes a chore. I was excited today about my green beans! Thank you!

I wanted to say thank you for this amazing channel! I love how you give information about your mum & grandma on baking and cooking! Mine did the same. I just am so much more thankful that you talk about the canning & gardening, as neither my mum or gramma did them. I have sheets wanted to live in a farm, I have chickens, ducks & a mini horse. Plus 3 dogs lol. Thank you for helping me with my canning.

Hey so I tried canning my beans with fruit preserver powder and a lil canning kosher salt and it worked like a charm!! Totally GREEN beans. So this is a great alternative to Zinc. Also, you get some salt and sugar in the preserve powder which flavor the green beans as well ❤

This is awesome! Thank you! I have like 20+ quarts from last year that I love the taste of, but my husband thinks they are ugly on the plate and won’t eat them. This is so appreciated. Thank you again

Your channel is the best!! I love watching you interact with your children. It’s fabulous that you’re passing the old ways to them. Also, you explain things so well….the reasons why you do what you do. I love that you are Christians too. I look forward to more videos of yours.

I love your channel. And you have a beautiful family. Love how you all work together. We were a home schooling family for a few years until I had to get a job. Those were the best years of my life.
A few days ago I made your coleslaw recipe and put up 14 pints! I want sauerkraut too so that's next. Probably 7 qts.
I usually grow the Contender green beans but this year I had a taste for the Italian Roma. Bush bean variety. Longer days to maturity but will be worth the wait. I'll use the zinc!
What I can't grow I'm buying from local farmer that has a market on site. This year they have honey.
