Daemon's internal thoughts: I am surrounded by pacifists!
The only person still thinking straight at this point.

Lol I'm just thinking scar from lion king, but yea. Anyway I don't like him choking reneryah but I see his thoughts. Can we like count everytime daemon was actually right. Also that scene where Otto goes to talk to reneryah that was recreated to match first episode was priceless, and Otto still looks scared cuz syrax, common, it's happened before lol what he expect

If ever there was a Targaryen who really embodied the idea of a dragon in human skin, it was Daemon 😊
How can you tell ? Did you learn about all of them ?
@@kenzo5096 Nitpicking. It's not an exaggarated thing to say from what we know and have seen
The original Aegon as well, Aegon The conqueror showed the power and strength as well as scary as hellside on Balereon, The Black Dread. Daemon shows the fiery, eager, Bloodthirsty side with Caraxes, who many called the most bloodthirsty dragon. Riders and dragons usually have a lot in common as well as respect for eachother.
Daemon is an incredibly charismatic, complex, and dangerous Targaryen. Matt Smith has done the most amazing job of bringing him to life! What an incredibly talented actor. Becoming Daemon is a true challenge and he has killed it!! 👍
@@kenzo5096 shut up, he never said that he was the only targaryen who was like that
Had daemon been the successor he’d have burnt the hightowers overnight with caraxes alone. End of hotd
They have dragons too..
@@faaf4950 you really think daemon would go by the rules? He’d literally just have taken off the moment he knew his throne was stolen. Hightower’s would be dead before they knew what hit em.
@faaf op is right daemon would've already been in kings landing burning the traitors if he was the successor. Of course I understand why this did not occur and of course we know how this will end and there is a chance if daemon did what he wanted the carnage and loss that will come may have even been avoided.
Dragons were a known means of warfare during this time. He'd have been seen and reported long before reaching King's Landing and then he'd be facing 2 or more dragons on his own, one of which is twice as big as Caraxes.
They wouldn't of even had the thought going behind his back and trying anything if he were king... He's not to play with.
The entire season Daemon was just begging to be let off his chain
If they have let him off , he would have ended the hotd in 2 or three episodes
This was probably how Caraxes was acting around all the dragons on Dragonstone during the finale lmao.
Lmao I would love to see a caraxes super cut
@@thesaltyinferno for all we know Caraxes could’ve been choking Syrax 😂

Yes exactly, he matured

Younger Daemon beat the messenger to death because he didn't like the letter, of course he would have snapped if his brother died and the throne was stolen

2:15 daemon is gripping both his dagger and sword 🤣🤣🤣he wanted to behead otto right there
Oh i didnt see itt thanks lmaooo
He was fidgeting like ADHD.
Poor thing.
Daemon is just BARELY able to control himself. He's just ITCHING for some sword wielding action. He. Was. Not. Having. It. Then Rhaenyra just tells him "No!" If Rhaenyra weren't the queen (since that's the ONLY THING that makes HER the boss), Daemon's restraint would've gone out the window and he would have disobeyed her in 2 seconds!
He was seething the whole episode.
Lmao he really was
Lets be honest, thats his normal state of mind.
@@bernhardlabus8511 Nah he was motherfucking pissed that his bro died and the first act of his widow was to usurp his family's kingdom. Guy's got a good stroke of righteous fury.
Rhaenyra being able restrict Daemons actions makes her the only Targaryen having her dragon under total control.
Rhaenyra the dragon tamer
He chokes her immediately after lol
@@MannequinStep As a person who dug deep into his character, we understand why he did it. And it's not shocking anyway. He's never set to be a decent person since day 1
He wasn't wrong. She was being too passive. The Hightowers started the war a long time ago. The day Alicent and her supporters wore green you knew where they stood. They also made changes to the Red Keep to suit them as a show of power and control. Daemon knew this was going to happen a long time ago. Otto has been planning this for a while now. Viserys didn't listen to him and the Hightowers were able to seize control because of it. They started the war and Daemon wanted to finish it. For Daemon time for talking was past, it was time for action. Despite Otto's words, the Hightowers didn't want peace. If they did, they wouldn't have usurped the throne in the first place. He wouldn't have accepted their surrender anyway Otto wanted them dead, and Daemon knew it. Just like Daemon wouldn't have accepted their surrender as they're the ones who started all of this.
And for that she loses a son. I don't think she will be the same in season 2.
The way hes stepping from one foot to the other, honding onto his Dagger and Sword while Otte speaks is like " Oh my Gods, just strike me down right now, I cant handle his shittalk anymore."

That's a show addition though. He wasn't insane enough to do that in the book, the grand maester delivered the offer/message (and got his chains ripped off by Rhaenyra iirc).
@@cantfindawayout exactly. the show sometimes go the form over substance route. They want to call back to episode 2 bridgestone scene. But it didn't make sense. In Episode 2, Otto went to Bridgestone to escalate the matter to distance the relationship between Viserys and Daemon. He knew he could achieve it by playing up how Daemon is defiant to King's order.
However, in finale, Daemon was literally in war mode. Otto certainly knew it and wouldn't go on a suicide trip.
@@koalachina but it wasn't a suicide trip lol. Both envoys in the book and show lived. You can't go by the fake "what if" scenerios in your head and pretend there fact lol
@@noturmum7967 In the book the envoy was just some random maester, while in the show they guy who caused the entire war of succession marched right up in range of their dragons. Hence it makes less sense in the show, it's basically a repeat of season 8's "park your dragon outside king's landing in full range of the scorpions" thing.
@@plmokm33 the only problem with what you're saying is that you have the knowledge of future events. The characters do not. At that point there is no war. At all. Hence why it was a suicide mission as if rheanerya had burned them that would be the declaration. In regards to Otto's role in what caused the conflicts the characters were already distrusting of Otto and though of him as a snake. But like the show obviously explained. Rheanerya didn't want a war. Hince why it wasn't a suicide mission. Despite the potential. Everything's easier with the gift of retrospect, which these characters do not posses. And even in the books and show. Both envoys survived their visit. So no. It wasn't a suicide mission

i mean think about it. Alicent has been telling her children for years that Rhaenyra is gonna kill them, which we obviously know its not true. However the hightowers were on and on with that shit. Rhaenyra not wanting to go to war after loosing her father, and her brother being crowned king, her not wanting to go full maniac and kill her family is understandable. which is why Rhaenys says that she was happy Rhaenyra show restraint. Matt Daemon
Makes me wish he couldve brought that serious, Intimidating energy to a few Scenes as The Doctor. But even when he was trying to be scary, he came off as goofy in that show
I disagree. While his portrayal is quite good it had the downside of people perceiving the blacks as a "good,, side as opposed to both sides being kinda right and mostly wrong as it came of in the source material. Even if one claim is better, the two sides are both equally deplorable or rootable in the book. It reads like a real historical civil war like the war of the Roses which was the attention. One can root for one side while reading about the war of the roses but not there isn't a good or bad side. With HotD we have the evil scheming greens and the girlboss feminist blacks on the other side, especially in online conversation, which is something I attribute mostly to matt Smith. With the doctor, a recognizable and charismatic force for good being cast in a chaotic evil role, many of daemons crimes stay unnoticed
@@agentchaos9332 I totally disagree. He was scary as hell when he dropped the nice guy act
2:02 After 9 episodes of House of the *Dragon* Otto "kinda forgot" about the dragons.

Rhaenayra made a mistake when she said to people to clear the room. Her uncle oops, i mean husband is not to be displeased.😆🤣😂
Telling people to clear the room wasn't a mistake per se. The only problem it entails is the rumor of discontent among the ruling House, especially as they prepare for civil war. A ruling monarch would never want to have an argument or air grievances in front of the Court, especially a war council. Clearing the room during the middle of a meeting before the issue has been resolved draws massive attention and starts people talking, however.
Great points!! I think Rhaenyra was trying to reassert herself with Daemon, but she didn't realize what was gonna happen next...

The Greens didn't care that she was in labor, anything could have happened during that time and Daemon had actual war experience so I had no problems with his actions.---FP
I think the problem with our MC (with Daenerys as well) is she's inexperienced in leading action but she doesn't accept suggestion from people with more experience eventhough they've shown their loyalty to her she took it as challenge instead. Too much misplaced pride.
Daemon: "Swear anew your oath to Rhaenyra as your queen......" Or, FACE THE DRAGON! Love it!
2:13min The subtlety of look. OMG. I am Dying XDDDD
Daemon gripping his blade hilts, thinking: "I wanna kill him so hard right now. Just seeing him standing here so proud, demanding terms here on Dragonstone and not dragged down in chains makes my blood boil. Every single word pouring out of his c*unt mouth makes we wanna repeat the thing I did to Vaemond and his tongue."
Rhaenyra ever so slightly shaking her head 'No' without breaking gaze with Otto.
Daemon startled, swings his head around asking: "WHY NOT?!?" * takes his hands of the hilts, clasping them together instead *
"Ok, if you won't let me assault him, I'm gonna verbally assault him instead"
* assaults Otto verbally instead *
Rhaenyra turns to Daemon with a look: "What the fuck are you doing?!? We're trying to be civil here. Stop provoking him."
Further listening to Otto Hightower speak, Daemon turns to Rhaenyra: "Can pleeeease I just kill him now?"
* literally just foaming at the mouth until he draws his sword *
And the intense stare down as Rhaenyra says "No" and he begrudgingly obeys her as he unwillingly puts down his sword again and the reluctant defeat in his eyes.
This confrontation took all of Daemon's self-control and all of his love for Rhaenyra to justify not escalating - Character Growth XD
- Until he snapped and choked because of her inaction of course 🥲
She should have come with a dozen dragons in King’s Landing after her baby’s birth. That will minimize all the casualties of the war and will save much of her family.

This war could have been _easily_ prevented if the traitors of the realm are burned to death by princess Rhaenys and Meleys. Though it’s not her war, to begin with, and she’s not a king or kinslayer, just imagine the many lives of people and dragons spared if she just burned those usurpers. Rhaenyra was the named heir, from king Visery’s mouth, before everyone. If he wanted Aegon II to rule, he could have easily announced it. But he didn’t so technically, whatever is decreed and announced before all who could hear, should be followed.
Agreed, I really had issues this season with how Rhaenys was being used. She should have at least burned somebody like Otto (since he is the main reason everything is going this direction and it would give a reason for him to have constant contact with the maesters too) so we could be in keeping with having characters stay in the story. I personally feel like Rhaenys tethered herself with Rhaenyra already when she spoke up for Corlys before Viserys before poor poor Vhaemond lost his head. So she was really already firmly against the Greens at the Dragon Pit. This still irks me, but not enough to quit the show. I'll be interested to see what they will do with her character next season.
Honestly at first I did not mind as rhenyese did because a Targaryen showing restraint is good. It's not like she could predict future. However then I get a little bothered, why would be spoilers, so I won't explain but yes if rhenyese ended them the thing I really don't like wouldn't have happened but just look at targ family tree, we know who's line continues. House Velaryon has the biggest navy in the land, and can easily hire and transport sellswords to the capital. Daemon also has rapport with the Goldcloaks and could've had them lock down the capital and prevent Green dignitaries or royals from leaving. Combine that with the greater number of dragons that the Black faction has, and they could've taken the capital, held the Green royals and family members hostage, and ended this war fairly and early. How the hell Rhaenyra lost this war is beyond me.

In the second half of season 1, Daemon was placed in the background most of the time. We barely got his point of view shots. His character develoment is stagnant and his sexiness is losing steam. Realistically, without Meleys they have only Caraxes and Syrax (with a rider with no battle experience and after a miscarriage) as fully-grown dragons. None of the other riders are recruited yet, Arrax and Vermax are young. Compare this to Vhagar, Sunfyre and Dreamfyre. Not to mention Otto fucking Hightower is not a type of man to be ambushed.
