The ideal scenario would be a mentor that pops up like a genie and drags you by the balls into the right direction every time you are at a cross road. Ideally one for every character trait that you want to change. In reality almost no one has this especially when you are an adult so it goes back to having to just take the right steps. For some starting with baby steps works best, for others jumping in with a giant leap.
