Fishing one night out of a 16 foot boat and had a tiger shark about as long as the boat go past, looked like a submarine! Another time mate pulled berley pot up and reached over to lift it in and nearly patted a 2-2.5 metre shark - I think that was a seven gill.

In the early 80s myself and a mate spear fishing out the boat off of Seaford SA had a visit from a 14ft white that escorted us back to the boat for about 4-5mins . 2 weeks later over KI Pulling a cray out of a crack another white gently nudged my shoulder and when I turned around I was staring face to face with it .

When I was 15 (55 years ago), and towing the fish float for our group, with about 15 good size fish on the ring, I felt a pretty big tug on the line on the way back to the rocks. I just felt it was just a bit of swell and never gave it a thought. Once we were all out we started and hauling in the float. As we lifted it out of the water we were all in shock to see a massive bite had taken a huge chunk of the fish. The shark would have been around 10 to 12 feet to match the bite size.

@@danb8877 Normally I would 100% agree but just a heads up to any future spearos in the area, the whites are more common on the eastern seaboard than before. Although the boogie boarders should still be OK, just avoid very dirty water etc. I,m based in WA these days and sharks are accepted as a normal dive.
