Great pointers there amigo! If I may add a few more: 1. SUNSCREEN 2. HAT WITH GOOD BRIM 3. GOOD POLARIZED SUNGLASSES. 4. SMALL FIRST AID KIT 5. MOST IMPORTANTLY: This is me and why...PRAYER! When I approach the ocean, I am at it's mercy. It deserves respect for I am very vulnerable to it's dangers and adversities! Keep safe to live many more days and years to fish and come home safely!!!
Having your setup streamlined is really important in order to have a good time. I started wading the river this year and just bought a half decent pair of wading boots and went out with two rods and my big backpack. Standing thigh deep in the water trying to take a backpack off and fish something out of it is the most frustrating thing in the world. I got a good waist belt with pockets and a PFD with a few more. Everything is easily accessible now and attached to D-rings, carabiners or retractors somewhere. It's important to not have a ton of stuff dangling either, just from a safety perspective. Now the only thing I need to do is take your advice and slow down.
Keep sharing that knowledge. Love that you keep it simple and easy for those coming into the sport, even for those who are looking to do things differently. Buenos Nachos & continued tight lines.
Awesome video man I love all your wading videos. Stingray shin guards or at least Kevlar socks is strongly suggested by me! West Galveston has a large stingray population as well as most of the gulf coast.
I would definitely agree to move slow. I generally try and fan my cast a few down the shoreline or direction I’m going prior to moving. It’s a good way to make yourself slow down The fan cast back toward shallower water is generally where I pick up reds and flounder along the way while I’m fishing out to a drop off or deeper water depth for trout.
Excellent info on saltwater wade fishing. A couple of questions if I may. With your pack how do you keep your lures dry and protected from the saltwater? I have a shoulder bag and a similar box but when I’m wading deep water and especially if a wave tolls over the bag and tackle inside get wet. Also what are some good bang for the buck brands of wading boots? I’m wearing the zip up beach wading boots from Academy. So far so good but your tennis shoes comment got my attention. Are these I’m using a good choice? Thanks so much and I hope you get this comment since this is an older video.
Well i watch all your videos and great job again ive got a good questions ive never fished west bay were is a good place if you dont mind telling me also plastics iv got a ton and no luck at all i need help and believe in you and you show i gave bite fd but i love wading please help
Good place to start is the south shore line of west bay. Tons of spots to walk in and wade. I wish I could be more helpful but it really depends on the conditions. Here is a few places to try. Amigo ln, sea isle, terramar, Dana cove. All produce fish on the right conditions.
lol correct for sure, but also, if did want to and were determined to, nowadays, there are companies that make “mudwalker” shoe attachments, that spread out the weight and sorta prevent your feet from sinking down into the mud. Sorta kinda like, built on the same idea and principle as snowshoes. But for mud.
I didn’t add that because it depends on where your wading. I don’t wear a PFD wading if I’m bay side in shallow water. That’s very dependent on location for me.
@@TexasFishingForce Completely understood and you as well as I have a decent understanding of the water. Beginners have no clue when it comes to drop offs and holes as well as soft mud. I just always choose to err on the side of safety.

Great tips for sure!
I have the same boots. I was using neoprene and frog toggs for a long time. The Simms are a major game changer for me and stability. Worth every penny
Completely agree. Nothing like a good pair of Simms!
Thank u brother 4 the information and bless u and your family and friends💪🙏
Good tips! Always learning something new.
Great tips. Thanks for sharing what's working for you.
Thank you!
Great video, good one to look back on! Keep up the good work man
Appreciate it. Had a few people asking so I figured I’d do the video. Hope it helps.
Great vid and info thanks Mike
Thank you!
Great tips for a beginner like myself. I plan on keeping fish too (I only ever have catch and released) what are some good ways to keep it fresh?
I use a fish bag when I wade and I’ve converted a cooler into a live well for the drive home.
Great stuff. I just started, and need this kind of info.

Yep, I’ve had to deal with a few big stingrays over the last few weeks.
If you've ever known of, or seen someone who has been hit by a ray, you will definitely invest $30 in a set of Ray-Guards and wear them !
Thanks for all the great info and tips
Absolutely! Thanks for watching!

Thank you for your recommendations, great video. Saludos y bendiciones!!!👍🏻🇲🇽👍🏻
Good video just need one when kayaking alone thanks
Thanks, I can probably do that.
Dude sick hat!
Thank you!
Excellent ideas that I plan to use on my second wade trip. First was not very productive. Probably guilty of breaking most of these
and always always always shuffle your feet along the bottom while walking on sandy bottoms! scares away the stingrays.

I have that same sling pack, I love it
I really like it. Works well!
Can you link the sling pack?
It's the magellan sling pack, academy sells it
Hey Mike, what tackle pack are you using? Thank you in advance!
It’s the Magellan sling.
Texas Fishing Force thanks!
Great video 👍 Also you look like Tom Hanks.
I’ve heard that a few times now.
So I am assuming that wading in marsh mud is not a good decision or can it be done?
It’s tough, I personally wouldn’t do it. Too much frustration

What brand is the bag. Where can I find it
I got mine from Anglers Anonymous. Not sure on the brand
I used to not wear socks while wearing my wade boots, changed my life the day I started wearing socks. Give it a try if you don't.
Great
Thank you.
If that was me I would of just started running 😂
You missed a big one Mike and I'm surprised. PFD!!

Running out of line? How.
👍🏻
It doesn't matter how much tackle I bring I always feel I should have brought something else.
Always, lol
