I love that movie. It’s no masterpiece but a dang solid 70’s creature feature. Paul Lehr’s poster art haunted me as a kid in the video store.

I think I might have said this back when the Spasm video was originally released but oh well! Fun Fact: There really are some churches in the southern US that do consume snake venom, since as long as you don't have any ulcers that can allow the venom to enter the bloodstream, the venom will be broken down by stomach acid neutralizing it

Its funny how much movies side with the nerd with glasses stereotype. Even when he's summoning creatures from another dimension with potential world ending implications he's still the good guy.
I saw Happy Birthday To Me at a local last run theatre. I was still in the throes of my horror phase and saw anything that was genre related. Naturally the tagline "the most original kills you've ever seen" was a siren song. But it turned out to be pretty lame and I learned to be more sceptical about these promises. However the experience was not a total loss as I got to hear members of the audience calling out to the characters on screen that there was something evil nearby and ready to pounce. I had heard about these outbursts but thought they were made up. I stand corrected. It added a little amusement (and annoyance) to the evening.
I still own that copy of Fangoria with the victim from Venom, although I never saw the movie itself. Even I had my standards and it seems to have more than a passing resemblance to Jaws.
I absolutely agree that Black Christmas is one of the best slasher films ever made. There are very few films that actually scare me. It scared me more the The Exorcist. A psychopath lurking up in the attic is a lot more plausible than a young girl possessed by a demon with potty mouth.

I read Death Bite as a wee lad. The end is the hunter strangling the snake while it is spitting its venom into facial wounds he had received earlier. The hunter dies first and when the snake goes to bite the hero’s love interest the hero comes out of nowhere with a shotgun, blowing its head apart.
I'm beginning to think Mr. Tenold isn't an actual Canadian. Between the continued shocking lack of Bob & Doug McKenzie references and his putting way too many syllables in Toronto I'm thinking he's just from Wisconsin and faking it.
Don Michael Paul also played in robot wars. I think you would love to check that one out too.

Damn it you had to mention The Watchers.....I read the novel, loved it....I have NO idea how the 1st movie's screen play and script was EVER approved....much less 2 and 3.

I wonder if the dirt-bike kill in Pet Sematary 2, was a reference to the kill in Happy Birthday To Me? I think both character's ever had the same scarf [though my memory isn't sure if that was the case or if it was a different colour.]

One of Favourite Oliver Reid stories is he appeared on Michael Parkinson's talk show he staggered onto the set shirt hanging out jug of what people thought was Mimosa and gave what appeared to be a drunken interview but his assistant and friend said the jug had orange juice in it and he was stone cold sober just doing for shits and giggles.
Say what you will when Oliver Reid was on he was a hell of an actor

Oliver Reed was an amazing actor shame he made a lot of bad movies.
28:30 As someone who's done actual weightlifting... this made no sense to me. He has no reason to hold it above him. He can drop it off the side if he needs to. Sure, people in gyms won't normally do that, but that's just because it damages the floor. If you need to... it's better than getting hurt. Also, another option is to slowly lower it, so it doesn't go THUD. This guy just holds it at full extension as long as he can.
