After 20+ years I finally get it.
This movie was meant to be a musical. There was even a TV promo called "The Wild Weird World of Dr. Goldfoot", but since the popularity of musicals was declining at the time, the songs ended up being removed. Price later lamented years later during an interview, "It could have been fun, but they cut all the music out".
Wow! I thought that I was the only one who remembered that!
I'd forgotten it was supposed to be a movie, but I do remember The Wild, Weird World, and Harvey Limbeck kind of proto-rapping through a song.
But does that mean there's secret footage of a musical version hidden away somewhere in California? 🤣
@@user-yv2cz8oj1k There have been rumors of a musical cut floating around for decades, but AFAIK it's never escaped into the wild if it does exist.
That would be very consistent with the other movies these guys made but it also would’ve increase the camp by about 200,000%.
Given the over the top tone it would’ve worked better.
With the way AI is going it may not be that long before you could see Vincent Price as a Bond villain.
Vincent Price was great. You could tell he really enjoyed every movie he did.
If Vincent Price could make a EGG-cellent Batman villain, then he would've been a great Bond Villian.

I'm a huge fan of Vincent Price. I saw this a long time ago so barely remember it, but Vincent Price makes everything better. He's my all time favorite horror actor to this day.
Plus he voiced one of the best underrated Disney villains

Vincent Price was doing comedy right up to the end, like Edward Scissorhand. A little before that, he was the funniest thing in Dead Heat, and that had plenty of decent comedy. "God doesn't want us dead- and if he did, we can buy him off!"
Horror was WAY far kinder to Vinnie than it was to Bela Lugosi - and the Priceman certainly returned the favor with his perfect timeless balance of class and camp!
The 'evil mastermind' role has tons of flexibility. From Moriarty to Dr. No to Frank N. Furter. A lot more easy to tailor to a movie compared to any monster.
Lugosi kind of did it to himself. He was offered a variety of roles, but he was such a pain to work with he quit getting offers.
Similarly Boris Karloff kept getting work well into the 70's despite being most known as a monster. But he didn't try to take control of the set.

Thanks a lot. Now I'm sad that Vincent Price is gone again. Seriously, we've lost a lot of "one of a kind" actors in the last 20 years. There sure as hell isn't any close to him around nowadays. The guy was a national treasure.
I really wish Vincent had the opportunity to do more comedy roles outside the horror/sci-fi genres, he always made his appearances in them a bright point. There's a neat little comedy from 1950 called Champagne For Caesar in which he steals the show with his performance.
So good that someone at Disney watched it and wanted him for The Great Mouse Detective. One of his best/favorite performances.
He was in some great films with Gene Tierny: Laura, Dragonwyck and Leave Her to Heaven.
Good thing he got to have a guest role on a season 1 episode of The Muppet Show
Check out his guest appearance on Tommy Cooper's show. He does some good skits.
Don't forget 'A Comedy of Terrors' with Peter Lorre and Boris Karloff.
Vincent Price makes any movie watchable
Vincent Price was a true Renaissance Man. Actor, Art Connoisseur, Artist, Chef... There was nothing he couldn't do.
On top of that, he was apparently a super nice and friendly guy in real life. I've heard of so many actors I like being dicks in reality, its nice to hear one of my all time favorites was a good guy after all.

I figured Brandon's favorite Vincent Price movie would be Dr. Phibes. After all, he was trying to resurrect his wife, Caroline Munro.

Susan Hart, who plays Diane, is something of a super-villain in sci-fi and cult film circles. As the widow of AIP co-chair James Nicholson, she owns the rights to several of the studio's most beloved and highly sought-after films, and refuses to release them. They include I Was a Teenage Werewolf, It Conquered the World, Invasion of the Saucer Men and The Amazing Colossal Man. She's something of a one-woman Toho.
And those are some of the most entertaining MST3K episodes.

I guess we'll have to wait until after her death for those films to get the latest video format reissues!

@@ggrarl Amazing Colossal Man made for some great riffs, and The Eye Creatures (the horrid remake of Saucer Men that Hart also owns the rights to ) was even better, but the It Conquered the World and I Was a Teenage Werewolf were too, well, good to be satisfying MST experiences.

Honestly seeing Vincent Price in anything- whether it is a serious or hammy film-is always an entertaining pleasure for me.

I've seen both of these and I really enjoyed them, I sometimes do a weekend where I watch both Dr Phibes movies (Which you really should do) and both Dr Goldfoot movies. While he is a horror Icon his comic timing and delivery is priceless.
Vincent Price was in some truly terrible films, but he himself was always fantastic. The amount of dross I've sat through just to see him onscreen is ridiculous 😁

Idk he really sucked as egghead on batman though but yes he was a terrific actor.

When I was six this was on my TV during the day and I distinctly remember when my parents came home I started singing the theme song!
Dr Goldfoot appears in one of Alan Moore’s ‘League of Extraordinary Gentlemen’ spin-off comics and this just reminded me of it 😂

My main reference point to this movie has been Kevin in Rifftrax complaining there's not a lot of dialog in...either Halloween or Alien, I forget, and saying they had had the talkie since 'Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine'
Vincent Price actually made several horror based comedies, The Raven, The Abominable Dr Phibes, and Dr Phibes Rises Again.
All this does is remind me of how much I miss Vincent Price and Christopher Lee. They Don't make them like that anymore.

Am I right in saying this is one of, if not _the_ best riffview channel on RUclips? Brandon's comedy is so good. Out of dozens, I like two or three more channels, but I still prefer this one. Re-watching any of Brandon's videos is a good time!
Ah, good ol' Vincent Price. I remember my first exposure to him was during that Scooby Doo miniseries, the 13 Ghosts. Good times! :)
As a little kid I was naturally drawn to him by having the same name. I have never swayed since. I remember this movie and thinking how terrible it was, but you have some of your best jokes in any episode in this video so kudos to making lemonade from this lemon.
As if there was any need to further prove how awesome Vincent Price was, he made THIS watchable.

Vincent Price is one of the best actors of all time, especially in horror films! He is in all 3 of my favorite horror movies, Theater of Blood and both Phibes films!

Vincent Price did comedy with the same flair as his horror movies. You need to do more. Example: The Bat, also starting a pre-Bewitched Agnes Morehead, The Raven with Boris Karloff,Peter Lorre, and a young Jack Nicholson and The Fly.
His Egghead in the Batman tv series treads here as well. His dialogue 😆

Like most things in this world, my first introduction to Vincent Price was in "Sesame Street" where they had a parody Muppet by the name of Vincent Twice, Vincent Twice (no, I'm not repeating myself, he was), and hosted their "Mystery" parody series. I never got the joke, but I liked how he repeated himself because he was a Muppet and Muppets are goofy.

The mid to late 60s were a good time for Bond parodies. The Flint series (Our Man Flint and In Like Flint) ended early because James Coburn didn’t want to be typecast, but Bond was still going strong.
I liked those Flint movies but the Dean Martin "Matt Helm" one I tried to watch was just too cheeky. It's like a Rat Pack Austin Powers without the self awareness.

To this day I never saw any DVDs or VHS Copies of this film, and I never heard anyone in my life talk about it at all, expect you reviewing this.

If you have any taste for old time radio, I highly recommend looking for Vincent Price's run on The Saint. Which, because of the 40s being the 40s, sees master thief Simon Templar taking time in between crimes to solve other crimes. So it's a detective show, except with a chaotic-neutral antihero schmoozing and snarking his way through mysteries - and Price is loving it.
1. Vincent Price is truly the Eighth wonder of the world.
2. That's the second most un-Igor Igor that I've seen. Second to Igor the Malibu himbo from the Killer Tomato movie series.
3. A mad scientist with a lair full of skimpy women? Think this could have inspired Dr Tongue's 3D House of Stewardesses?
SO happy this is your first Price film! The only thing that might have been better is The Tingler!
Dr. Phibes would've been a great choice too.
LOVE The Tingler. Castle gets a bad rap--people focused on the gimmicks and overlooked that his movies, even schlock like Tingler--were actually really good.

Same here. I remember seeing this film (and its sequels) many times on TV. One of the 4 stations we got at the time showed movies like this every Saturday afternoon.
You Can never go Wrong with a Bikini Machine combined with Invasion of The Bee Women and that's B Movie Heaven

Your timing on this is INCREDIBLE. I just got my hands on THE VINCENT PRICE COLLECTION from Shout Factory, which has 4 Roger Corman POE films, plus "Witchfinder General" and "The Abominable Dr. Phibes"... and I've been planning to watch "THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER" tonight! (I want to upgrade all of my POE films to Blu-Ray this year, and I'm starting with the 8 "core" Corman films, before branching out to other ones.)
I saw ...THE BIKINI MACHINE on RUclips a few years ago... I'd rather watch your review again that the actual movie. For that matter, I'd rather watch Frankie Avalon in VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA (1961) than this thing. That film makes LESS sense every time I watch it, but, at least it's actually fun!
If you want to see a really fun movie with Vincent Price, check out HIS KIND OF WOMAN (1951) with Robert Mitchum, Jane Russell, and Raymond Burr. The story structure is uncannily similar to THE FIFTH ELEMENT (only not quite as funny), and Vincent Price is playing (more or less) the Chris Tucker part. (I'm NOT kidding!)
Hopefully some one makes a box set of all Vincent price comedies and horror comedies.

I have prior knowledge of many of the movies you review, but I have never heard of this one or its sequel. I appreciate you bringing new movies to my attention.
Vincent Price was always great regardless of the movie, TV show or interview he was in; The guy is a true legend and oozed charisma on and off screen.
Sure it was coincidental and unintentional, but your review of this movie brings me so much joy. Brings back happy memories of the old independent TV channels before networks took them over. Remember seeing this on a Vincent Price Saturday on one of those channels. It was the first time I had seen Vincent Price do anything that wasn't adapted from Edgar Allan Poe, or other classic literary works.
If it was out in theaters around here in 1965 = My grandparents most likely saw it.

1:17, Not gonna lie, that seems like a cool choice for Vincent Prince, even though I think Tim Curry is probably a better choice to play a Villain in my opinion.

My first encounter with Price was being the voiceover in Michael Jackson's Thriller video. First time I saw him was as Egghead in the Adam West Batman. 🥚🗣️
How the hell did they use footage from a toho movie(a Godzilla one at that) and not get in hot water for it?
It was in the 60's. Toho wasn't the international powerhouse it is today and Japanese films were viewed as trash in the west post WW2
