Diesel engine rumble is a sure way to put a child to sleep used to take my kid out in my truck when she was fussy and could not sleep worked 100% of the time.

Baby sleeping in the cab, reminds me of falling asleep while plowing. Furrow at end of field woke me up, saved the fence. Nothing to tell dad about. Life was really good down on the farm.

There are no better engine noise to sleep too than a big bud engine 😁
When I was a kid, I always fell asleep listening to a diesel engine.. When I was 14, I worked at a big bus workshop that housed 205 busses Mercedes all the way, but those old V8 diesels and w12 knocked me out while idling 😂
So, a cowboy stretch in the back seat right over the engine 💤 😴 💤 😴 💤

As a kid I spent many hours after school in the fall sitting on the cab floor doing homework. As i.got older I sat on the end rows to pull hitch pins and help rebook up wagons that ran be hind the unipicker. I was paid .10 cents for each pin. I thought I was the kyckiest richest kid in the county. I with my siblings and cousins country the days for farming event's. Today me and my 4 siblings still have seasonal ties to the farm. So Blessed to live this life. Thank you for sharing and keeping agriculture real through education in your videos. Every farm life is different which makes farm life challenging

It is cute seeing that a child can sleep just about anywhere when they want to. Back in 1977, I was visiting a cousin's farm and he asked me to take a load of rapeseed to the elevator in Saskatoon. (It was about 300 bushels each load.) The truck was a cab over International. Our youngest daughter feel asleep on the quilted engine cover. The vibrations put her right to sleep. Rapeseed was the forerunner to canola. It was a cash crop contracted out. I took two loads in that day. (Rapeseed was modified through genetics to become known as canola. Canola is used for canola oil and it is used in edible oils.) Rapeseed was selling for $12 a bushel, "back then" when wheat was around $4 a bushel. Fertilizer is now making a big difference in yields. Here in western Canada we need rain once again. The drought is affecting just about every farmer. By the way, I was talking to a cousin about your farm. He knows the Case dealer in High River. . . . Small world at times. 😊

Lots of room on the dash to nap. Man that brings back memories, remember being that age and Dad running a John Deere D tractor and doing field work always wanted to ride along. dad hated having us out there because we would always fall asleep. Always took a blanket along and would lay down between the fender and battery and fall asleep to the sound of the old 2 cylinder, chub, chub, chub.... The many days or weeks it took to do the 320 acres we had and now it can be done in less than a day, that is what impresses now.

When my oldest son Scott was teething he had the pain terribly, couldn't get to sleep. One evening I was working on my motorcycle, and my wife brought him out to me as she was going to work. He was grumpy and crying so I got a plastic bag with a couple of ice cubes for him to gnaw on, it helped a bit but he couldn't settle. I was almost finished on my tune up and started my bike. I was holding him in my lap as the bike was idling and and boom, he was out. For the next 3 months or so, if he was cranky out to the garage area and idle the Goldwing... naps came easier. His nickname to this day is Scooter. He's 43.

Yeah Seatbelt helps the Ouch ! Hitting the top of the cab with your head hurts bad enough but if you're wearing a ball cap the button on the top of the hat makes it feel like you got hit on the head with a ball peen hammer , I used to tell my new operators before they drove off in one of my Cranes wearing a ball cap that they might want to wear their Hardhat instead , Most would leave wearing the ball cap and return at the end of the day wearing a hardhat , LOL . Or you can wear a welders hat that doesn't have the button on top .

Always amazing to see how different farming practices can be.
You harvest before winter and seed after winter without even breaking the ground. Where I am, after harvest they plow, till, seed a cover crop, now after winter they mow that cover crop, spread manure, plow, till and then finally seed.
I am sure the amount of rain you get is a big factor.

It still amazes me that you can go around those fields with direct seeding only basically and still easily pull a good crop.
Here in Europe the farms that I know would never go drilling without prepping the fields beforehand

it's because our soil is a lot dryer and the top soil has a tendency to blow away with a high winds (up to 180 kpm) that is possible in certain parts of Montana. So a lot of farms tend to leave some vegetation on top to help keep the top soil where it is.

Often it's 20 bushel an acre country so costs need to be controlled as well as the erosion mentioned already

Europe usually gets a lot more moisture, and has a less prone to erosion soil and enviroment.
      Minimum till is quite popular.
