    Honestly, your best option for pinstripes might very well be just painting them on. It'll be pricier than using the stick on stuff, but it will hold up for as long as the paint does.

      Or learn to stripe yourself and then never have to pay again. It's important to get good brushes and learn a stable and braced hold that you can be consistent with, and remember only you will know about the mistakes.

      Hand painted isn't difficult, it's all about the Touch and proper paint thinning, and a nice feather brush. Hire a car painter and pick his brains, and film it all for future reference. . Small jobs you can DIY , Goofs wipe off with thinner.

    To help get the sticky residue off from the pinstriping, you can get basically a rubber eraser that goes in a drill to erase the gunk. They work great. Check with an auto body supply shop. They could probably help you find good striping as well.

    • @Torchedini
      @Torchedini 2 года назад +5

      This, but that is last resort because you need to hit everything with the wheel and you have lots of striping. Would try sticker removers or glue solvents first. But you have to be careful with the paint yes.
      Last tip for the wheel, don't stay to long in one spot. Heat is the enemy.

    Hi, first of all, sorry for my english i hope you understand what I'm saying and cheers from Croatia! :) Best way to remove sticker is sticker remover spray and then pressure washing, (you can scrape it but it will leave marks) it is slow and painfull process but the only way to really clean it without any marks on the paint. :)

    • @dariohodic0
      @dariohodic0 2 года назад

      I removed 3M tape and any kind of sticky tape that way on steel and plastic and i tried many chemichals and stuff but that spray and pressure washing (hot watter works better than cold) is the best if you want surface to be as new. Spray it try to scrape it maybe with some plastic tools and then wash and then repeat. God bless you, hope i could help you. By :) :) :)

    My sister used to do street signage back in the late 1980's. Their shop used 3M striping tape on the signs, I believe. 3M also makes on adhesive remover that I used several times at my regular job when we had to change logo decals on our trucks that worked very good. Stay warm and pray for moisture!

    • @WelkerFarms

    • @ke6gwf
      @ke6gwf 2 года назад +3

      @@WelkerFarms 3m is pretty much the go-to brand for quality lol
      And the fact the old adhesive is still firmly attached to the paint shows that you did nothing wrong with the installation, it's just poor quality pin striping.
      If it was surface contamination or too cold or wet or whatever when you applied it, the adhesive would be failing off the paint rather than the film failing and coming off its own adhesive.

    Thanks for another great video Welkers. It was interesting and enjoyable for sure.
    Bob, good job on the puns again. You being a “fan” of cleaning the ceiling, good one. And then doing a “simple” way of cleaning the ceilings, believe you referred to using simple green cleaner, I think. You might of had a third one but can’t remember it. Tough to get old.
    Always enjoy the puns Bob.
    Nick you asked about pin striping on the big bud. 3m makes some real good striping and a good cleaner to get the old adhesive off before applying the new. A body shop that stripes might have a good suggestion also.
    Wow, working on those steering pumps has turned out to be not so easy. But seems you all have it in hand now. Can understand that many years of use wears things out. Leg arms has the engineering part of it figured out. Your abilities to make the part or reengineering them continues to amaze me. Good job all of you.
    I sincerely hope you have a great year with your crops after last year. Trust you will get some moisture this year for the crops. Spring seeding just around the corner.
    About it for now. You all take care and be safe.
    Looking forward to the next video.
    Thanks for everything.

    You can take the pin-striping off with an eraser wheel that’s made to remove decals and the foam tape residue without damaging paint. I find a battery powered drill works good but most people use them in a pneumatic drill or grinder with chuck. You can get them from any auto parts store that sells auto body supplies! It looks like a round eraser, about 3”, on a small shaft you chuck up on!

  • @badgerpa9
    @badgerpa9 2 года назад +4

    Other than painting the stripes on try 3M, it will probably cost more but always seemed to last. Most auto stores should be able to get like a NAPA or what is in your area. It was the only pin striping used in the body shop I worked in years ago, except for pinstripe kits from manufactures but they often were 3M. One of my vehicles has painted on design that is on there for ever, it is even clear coated over it. Hope your shoulder heals up fast and well. I had the "Brett Favre" surgery on my shoulder a few years ago, it is better now. Stay safe and healthy, I am a fan of Bob.

    For the pin striping you can use a caramel wheel on a drill and it will rip that residue off super quick and not damage the paint at all. What you can do at the same time is tape off the pinstripe that your removing, use the caramel wheel to take off the residue and the remaining tape, wipe it down with acetone and then use a red enamel paint and paint it. It will be a lot tougher than the pinstripe tape and won't fade as quickly or as much. Plus you wont damage it when you use any chemicals to clean the unit down :) Love the content, have for years, the fabrication work you guys get up to is epic. Keep it going.

    Red is always a pita for fading and cracking. It's the weakest color for UV resistance. As for removing the adhesive and old stripes, that's super easy. They make a decal/adhesive removing tool that strips that stuff right off super quickly but doesn't hurt the paint. You can find them at automotive paint and body supply places. They're often called erasers. You can get them for die grinders, drills, etc...

    Hey Bob that ceiling is looking awesome! It’s amazing how a good cleaning can brighten up a shop.
    Hey Nick, what about painting the pin stripes on?

    As suggested in the comments 3M do make very good vinyl tapes. I would also recommend Avery as a brand too. We used them a lot in the signwriting industry.

    Instead of using pin stripping material, just paint it on. The big bud is waiting on parts that would be a great time to do that. Leg Arms is such a great fabricator I wish I had half of his fabrication ability.

    Amazon some "eraser wheels" to get that old striping and residue off. They work amazingly well!

    If you have to go to all the hassle of removing the old pinstripe use a rubber eraser on a drill or angle grinder, they work great. Then I would just mask the lines up and rattle can paint them. That way if you have to later its easy to just touch them up.

    Spray a layer of clear coat over it once you're done. It will help protect the paint too

    Don't know what it is about the Big Buds they just are just such an awesome looking tractors. If I was farming I would sooner have one of those than any of the new ones. They get the job done and the best part is you can work on them yourself. You guys do a great job of taking care of them.

    You can clean the pin strip with nail polish remover or lighter fluid it will clean the residue off and not hurt the paint as for strips paint them on it last allot longer vinyl strips 4-7 years if your lucky you have the strip layout easy to tape off for painting

    Thank you all for everything you do for us. I'm saddened knowing y'all are going from a bad year into a year where fertilizer is in some instances +300% and on top of that diesel is over $5 a gallon. I'm praying for all of you farmers who put everything on the line so we have food every day.

      It's a time we need farmers like the Welkers more than ever! Went to the local dollar store for something to scrub floors with, (no bleach, no spic-n-span, no mr clean, just empty shelves. But all is good right??) The Russia/Ukraine thing will have a huge impact on American farming. Praying the Welkers are able to make all the right planting decisions this season.
      God bless all who understand where we're headed in this time.
      God help all who can't see it...

    We would clear coat over our decals and stripping. You must make sure the pin stripping is compatible with the clear coat. It lasts for years on locomotives.

    Use an eraser wheel on a drill to clean up the old pin striping and glue. Works like magic.
