I love their vision, building equipment that's designed to be fixed and repaired without having to download software and license keys. My only concern is that the Big Bud is so big it's not practical for some farmers. I hope they build a version using the same concepts but smaller for smaller farms.
I really hope they are successful, This is what modern agriculture need right now.
I love the idea of "easily accessible, off the shelf parts" and end user simplicity. So important to keep equipment serviceable whether in construction or farming. Nothing worse than a machine being down waiting for parts. Good interview.

@@John-nc4bl And Big Equipment Company is the ONLY place to get parts for them. Twin Disc and Eaton want nothing to do with anything in a Big Bud. Cummins will work on the motor, if given a shed.
They were off the shelf parts, but the oddball off the shelf parts then and now, good luck. Neither me nor them can find some parts anymore.
@@Mr.Filson did you not get the part where all the mechanicals were cat OEM parts? That meant any cat dealer will have parts! From construction and mining equipment......

Important point was made at 8:40. They are basically manufacturing a glider that will be easier to retrofit with an older pre emission engine. Now of course they can not market it as such but its a very clever work around. I love that. About time someone stood up to the epa
more than that, if the powers that be do pull their heads out of a certain part....and someone comes up with a massively game changing engine or transmission, it can then be easily slid in also...but yes, at the current point we're at, I fully agree with you.
I wonder if the farmers could supply their own engine. New, used,rebuilt, deleted etc?
@@lamarzimmermanmennonitefar5269 directly? not likely, aftermarket, like big bud sells them a non powered unit, and then builds a skid for them using the motor and puts the skid in after the actual sale....maybe, question would be if they would be willing to...
Using licensed mechanics and not dealers I think is a great way to go. Dealers are being forced into high dollar purchases in order to be a dealer in a brand and keeping it simple is the best way to do this. I think this is a brand that will grow big time over the next few years.

I love that Bug Bud is coming back. Their approach of of trying to make something as serviceable by the end user as possible is very refreshing in today market of “Proprietary all the things.”

Yes, I would like to see the Browns get a demo. I think that its almost expected that the Welkers will have one to play with at some point. I would also really like to see Mike Mitchell have one to drag that air drill around and compare it to how all the others have done as they have ran pretty much everything but a Versatile at this point.

Awesome they brought the BIG BUD back. But even better is they are making it so user friendly to able to work on it yourself to a point.
Anyone willing to drop the coin, can obtain Cat's diagnostic software.
Any Cat engine shop, should be able to plug into and diagnose the engine.
Anyone with a Snap-on, MAC, etc, scan/diagnostic tool can obtain the software for the engine and transmission.
I think it was great to talk to THE MAN who knows the machine inside an out not just a well trained salesman.
i hope big buds take over the farming worlds, Harmon has got to be the most switched on company owner Ive ever heard, he knows his stuff and as humble as can be

Thanks for the interview Brian. As a long time Big Bud fun, it brings me joy to see Ron and Rome bringing Big Bud back to new production. And its nice to actually have an interview done to set the record straight after a month of armchair tractor engineers debating over the tractor. And I do hope the 350-450 horse Buds show up soon.

@@michaelroth3471 Rome, used to be Rome Plow Co. , I know several years back there was talk of Rome doing new Buds with the possibility of tracks like a Case IH quadtrac or Deere 9RX series....maybe in the future that will become a reality.

I love that they didn't make the design like all new farm tractors all rounded grills, curved down hoods etc. This looks straight out of the 70's or 80's. I collect the replicas, I hope they do a 1/16 of these new ones! I'm a southern Ohio collector, enjoy your information videos sir!

Really good video Brian...The whole idea of being able to service the Big Bud yourself will make this popular.
I'm no farmer but this seems like a sure fire hit once the BB tractors start rolling off the line. A tractor with the size, grunt, options, etc... of the established brands but with none of the restrictions and you can basically do whatever you want to them? That sounds like a license to print money to me :)
Will also be dependent on price vs competators though, hopefully Ron and the team can make it happen.

It’s awesome a manufacture sees the issue for yall and are willing to go against the grain so to speak to offer a durable easy to repair product for farmers.
I remmeber seeing farmer in feild with 747 back when we was on vaction near haver .when i was 12 or 13 yrs old. Im 57 now. Still love them.
Going with that Cat drivetrain is pretty incredible. It's not like there isn't any Cat dealerships around. Wonder if that is going to be a selling point in their network as well. Nice machine for sure.
BIG BUD is going to be a Beast like the original Steiger was as well easy to fix
We had 2 steigers...1 cougar auto and 2 panters with clutch..Only thing I hated about the manuals was the damn and clutch cylinders master and slave were Junk on mine..

Engine or transmission issue, the whole works slides out the front. Dont have to take half the tractor apart.
Those c18 Cats a amazing motors! With the right parts and some tuning you can make well over 1000hp.

I'm thrilled Big Bud is offering tractors that are not subject to the predatory service practices of the other tractor manufacturers. Farmers should never be hindered or locked out from servicing and repairing their own tractors.
Don't be too thrilled, because it's a Cat transmission and engine and a Cat computer and sensors, and Cat charges $185 an hr service call, and only Cat is going to have the parts

@@darrenlee2775 Not really. You can go anywhere you want with Deere or IH, no one is forcing you to use their dealers. No one really makes aftermarket anything for Cat nor does Cat allow any different practices than Deere or IH.
I have 3. It's not fun finding parts for them. Also how is it different than a Versatile besides being heavier and having an overrated Cat motor instead of a overrated Cummins motor?
But the internet knows best of course.

I have NEVER put a tractor in a dealer shop ..Ever! But most of our stuff is 40 years old... Planted all our corn and milo last year with JD 7000 6 row and 4430...Crop was just as good as the next azzholes..
I'm glad someone had the courage to build a new tractor without so many restrictions. I hope they are tremendously successful and put the hurt on the arrogant big companies.

Brian, thank you for doing this interview. With the technology today the value of this type of equipment (tractor) is far too quickly overlooked. Push the proverbial pencil and this tractor will probably be difficult to dismiss.
I went to this show with the owner of that very tractor. He purchased the very first big bud tractor manufactured in 20 something years. This tractor at this point will not move under its own power yet but he is expecting to take delivery in June i believe. He will be pulling dirt pans with this tractor. He is still running 3 bid buds that he purchased many years ago.

I'm in alberta and I've run an older big bud. Sweet to run.
Very nice, powerful, capable and beautiful tractor! Finally a smart manufacturer actually making a tractor for the people and not to pacify the techno crowd. Common, easier to fix parts, no factory restrictions for repair, somebody finally listening, these will sell out very fast. You were right to tell the Deere rep no way for complicated bullsh^t. Excellent, informative video on a great new tractor built for real people and not moving toward robots and drone tractors. BRAVO. This manufacturer is really smart, knows what a real customer wants. You're not the only one cussing technology, it's being force fed to the population as a step closer to drones but most people don't see what they're all aiming for, which ain't good for us people. NOTHING wrong with simple if it does the job and does it well, actually better.

When was a kid my uncle was the Big Bud"s corp. pilot. He was out of Havre Mt. He was a farmer that loved being a pilot.

When I was farming, 1980s we used a Stiger & the best thing about it was that we could work on it.
Not a JD or Case, call the dealer & get in line to wait. We had work to do. Didn’t have time to wait.

We run a Versatile 580 hp for similar reasons. BIG BUD takes it to the next level of preformance and ease of service. Hope we can afford the price tag.

Simple, Basic and best of all they care about the customer! What a novel idea.
I think that would look good on the strip bar and also for tile plough, you might have to get a new version though.
