We farmed 2100 acres for 35 years with 3 1030 case tractor at 65 HP. When we plowed we work around the clock 12 hours on and 12 off. And it only took us 12 to 14 days to de it all and pulling anything else it was 5 to 7 days. And I will promise you we came out with a hell of a lot more money at the end of the year.
Big bud 747 1100 hp still capable of 2000 least 9 feet tires still holds the biggest tractor record to this day I do believe . So ye where is the big bud ?
Why are so many horsepower needed pulling no more than I can do with a Versatile 895 pulling a 38 ft disk, 60 ft field cultivator, 12 bottom plow. As there is more & more no-tilling, hi horse power does not equate to more productivity. Granted newer tractors are more efficient with fuel, less gallons aren’t worth the price of $500,000 to a million doing the same work. At the end of the day it is what has been done behind the tractor not the gallons. jimh
