Great review. Thanks. I'm interested in the JBL MK2 since I do some busking (acoustic guitar and vocal) as well as weddings and smaller club gigs. @@AaronStrawn Hi Aaron. Thanks for your reply. Just curious, why do you say it’s not a wedding reception speaker? There were about 150 people out on the lawn and it seemed to cover pretty well. I was just background music, so it wasn’t a matter of high decibel sound.
@@AaronStrawn how does the overall 'sound' of the Eon One Mark 2 compare to the Evolve 30M if the JBLs are being run on mains power? I must say that I'm very impressed with the overall quality of the sound of the Evolve 30M considering its compact size and weight. Looking at either getting the J8 or a pair of EV ELX200 12sp subs. Currently I have EV ELX200 12p with a EKX 15sp sub. My plan is to either use the J8 or EV 12 inch subs with my 12 inch tops for those events up to 150. What do you think?
Do you think it’s worth it to get a pair of the EV 12 inch subs since I already have a 15? Would that essentially be like taking my 15 and more work involved with setup? Also, weight is a factor. The 12 inch EV sub is 42 pounds vs the RCF J8 being 54. I’m getting older so prefer as light of a system as possible.
Good video Aaron! I compared the EV 30M, JBL MK2, and the Bose L1 Pro 16 at my local guitar center and they all sounded great, BUT the Bose L1 Pro was the BEST!!! Man, this thing is LOUD with clear highs and good lows! So I bought the Bose. Also, took your advice and bought that ADJ DOTZ TPAR and I love it!!! Thanks 👍🏼
The L1 Pro 16 is more comparable to Jmix 8, Evolve 50M, Evolve 50 and PRX1. It's considerably more expensive than an Evolve 30M in Australia and is the next step up from what is already an awesome sounding, compact and lightweight system in the 30M.
Ok rcf evox j8 vs EV evolve 50 - which is straight up louder with clean usable SPL? We do a yearly outdoor concert and use 2 Yamaha DXR12MKIIs to cover 300-400ish seated listening people no problem spread out about 50 yards (150') deep outside. Would either the evolve 50 or evox j8 do the same or better (out less) in your experience? Or stick with the DXR12mkii? Just acoustic guitar and 2 vocals - looking to avoid speaker stands. Thx!
Hi mate! much appreciate your comparison👍👍 Have you heard the HK Audio Lucas 600 series? just over 16kg, down to 43hz, max SPL 130db (peak), which on paper is louder than all the other systems here. I'm a London based busker, looking for a good, loud PA below 20kg. I have a JBL 515xt that is crazy loud, but i'd like a better sound coverage. Your opinion would be much appreciated 😊
If you're busking then maybe the battery powered option is best? The JBL def doesnt get as loud as that other speaker you mentioned. I haven't seen those, sounds great though! For something light and easy, maybe look at the EVs. Has the built in mixer too. Hope this helps!
@@AaronStrawn thanks mate👍 I've tried the Jbl mk2 - sounds good but clips way too soon. I play dijeridoo so i need something that can push the low freq very well. Battery is not essential, as i have a powerful 22ah lithium one that i can use with an inverter

Just found this too. When you say you need two JBLs I presume you also mean plugged in for the full db Output yea? I opted for the “$100 less and it’s battery powered!” 😂
I've been looking to get a pair of RCF J8s or EV30s. After this review- I think I'll go with the J8👍 - curious if you ever consider the Evox 12s or EV50s?
What do you think would work for a 30’x30’ room with maybe 30 people max? I want to use for indoor cycling class that I can also use at home, small backyard parties etc. would a Bose L1 pro 16 (with sub2) get 85db and good bass throughout the space? Primarily house/EDM…
I think the Pro 16 would be perfect for that situation. 15" sub, 180 degree dispersion. They have them at Guitar Centers. Should be able to give it a listen
I’ve own the JBL and used the ev and agree with you . Cocktail background music corporate gig they work well. Also to me 2 of them are suitable for 75 people or less in a small space. Like a backyard or basement. I chose the JBL for the battery option as that lets me do certain things that ya normally couldn’t do.
@@dreamdaycharleston states 6 hours and so far pretty true to it. They have USB to 9v adaptors too so you can use the 2 USB ports for Boss pedals or some wireless systems Check out sweetwater they are originally for the eon mk1 / eon pro but will work on the mk2 also.
if you want t use them up to 150 people or even 200 you have to plug them on AC for more power. You can't get enough power on battery mode, no active speaker will do good if it's operated by battery.
Thx for the vids...sub'd. For Aaron and all those with the RCF J8s, I think I remember watching a video once where it was mentioned the mid-range on the j8 was not as full as the evolve 50s. To you guys' ears, is this correct or incorrect? Or of course maybe just subjective! This would be for a guitar & vocal application. Thx!
really think it's subjective. You'll find a video saying it has perfect mids, and one that says THEY SUCK! lol. I think for the Guitar vocalist, look at the Bose L1 16. Vocals sound crips in those, plus you could head down to a Guitar Center and hear one in person. Hope that helps!
@@AaronStrawn sure does help thanks for the response. I agree - subjective. I gigged with the evolve 50s a few times and I remember them sounding very rich. As they say, if it sounds good it is good!
Can you plug a phone or ipad into the 1/4 jack socket on the back of the evox 8 & 12s and play music through the speakers from there? Just thinking for back up. Thanks
I think Aaron did a great comparison but he missed out on the Maui as I heard that one is by far the best sounding line array on the market which is the Maui 44 G2.
Pro 8 has a bigger sub and better sound- but the JBL is more versatile for the purposes I need, so, my pick is the JBL (battery, easy pack up, AFS). I use it for ceremony, cocktail and outdoor small parties
Had the PRX One for one gig. Glitchy app made it unusable and the auto Phantom Power doesn’t work properly so it turns on and off randomly. Also auto gain features for different inputs goes glitchy. Wouldn’t recommend, despite it sounds great.
Maui cost 650 euro and it's very portable. It's output is enough for a background cocktail gig 50 people outdoor. If you are thinking to do a dance party outdoor the jbl with 3-4 db more isn't the solution.
@@WWeiss-nv5vz Obviously. It's a 8" BUT it's well balanced in general. Until 80-85% of the max loudness the bass is present and well controlled. I mean... If you are thinking to push music for dance outdoor neither the jbl mk2 on battery is strong enough. Maybe for 25-30 people but you are going to keep the system on limiter all the time.
@@lucabertolaso2167 I always thought the bass of the Maui5 Go was good especially compared to the Bose L1Compact. After listening to the MK2, Maui bass sounds muddy/one note. I feel besides the weight advantage, Maui is now outdated. A/B the Maui5 Go next to the less expensive Bose S1Pro. The Maui high end is rolled off. Bose has a cleaner high end, smoother Hifi midrange. Pairing the S1 Pro with the Maui's bass makes a good combination!
I think I play too loudly lol. None of the column speakers would be loud enough for me. I need battery power though and a mixer so Eon would be what I would go with. Great video as always bro!
I kept them out cause I think they are in a different class- price, sound, expectations...these 3 felt closer related. If they were added, it would be a slaughter lol
@@AaronStrawn You could have compared the Bose "House Sound." Smoothest mids but rolled off high end. I play my EV30 with my Pro32 and the EV has a high end which has a much cleaner, in your face PA sound people are used to from their point source speakers.
It's so hard to get a good sound reading from a mic on a camera that's processed through RUclipss compression. Just wanted to give a little taste without getting a copyright strike
RCF was warmer and fatter in the midbass and the JBL more studio monitor clear. the RCF's rubbery round midbass was way more exciting with the EV sounding almost as neutral as the JBL.
Great video! I think you are the first RUclipsr to compare the EV30m with the JBL MK2. I agree the EV is incredible because of the ability to run two aux speakers with gain control and EQ from the App. Wondering how the Bose Pro8 would compare??? At 54 lbs J Mix would compare with the Pro16.
Personally, I think the RCF would win just by having an adjustable pole. Most all the column speakers are just too short to get over the crowd unless the crowd is seated...
I looked at those when I was at GC. They came off to me as a little clunky, but I didn't get a chance to hear them. I know they've been solid for people
@@AaronStrawn I don’t know about clunky. The sound processor is definitely far too advanced for me. I wish they had a “lite” version of the app with simple presets rather than pages and pages of settings. But once you set it just right, they sound absolutely amazing. Better than the Pro16 (I didn’t try the pro32). To my ears anyways. I love them. The best “all round” speakers I have ever used. For larger gigs I also have Bose F1 812’s and a pair of the new Sub2’s. The Sub2’s are a fantastic addition to the PRX if you need extra deep bases, you can use the built-in HPF to only send >150hz to the PRX and that gives you an extra ~3db of clean mid/highs headroom on the PRX! Anyways I’m sure you knew all this already lol. Great channel by the way. Your videos are top notch and very polished. But you should stop using a wide angle for your studio vlogs. Unless you like that cartoonish look (big nose-little ears). Use a 50mm lens like Spinelli or even better a 85mm like the real pros. Your videos will look much more “pro” (I’m a pro headshot photographer).
It's normal that JMIX has more bass than the others, it has a 12 "subwoofer against 10" for the other two. Compare Jmix with JBL PRX One or Evolve 50 it will be a fairer fight 👍
I think you can just ignore the mixer on all of them and consider just sound quality - thats what matters the most for your CLIENT. Mixer can be bought separately, for example Yamaha MG series which is great and has different models with different number of channels and effects etc. Those built-in mixer are fine but in my opinion, they also suck because they are cheap and adding some extra layer between the speaker and the source. I always connect my DJ console directly to the speaker or put my Yamaha MG10XU in between for more mics. And with JMIX8, the sound level can go wayyyyy more higher if the mixer is turned off, idk why is that. Those built-in mixers are ok for wedding ceremonies but for the dancefloor, I would never use them.
I'm leaning this way more and more also. When I use my J8s for receptions, I disable the mixer. I do use it for ceremonies or when it's a remote speaker
Love how the EV’s look but I keep hearing they just don’t perform well or they fatigue over time, I’m most likely pulling the trigger on the RCF j8’s I keep hearing better things about them
Personally hate speakers with mixers built in. All that money spent on the mixer should ave gob=ne into the "SOUND quality" not the mix. I bet majority of users use a mixer then feed the speaker with signal - I could be wrong.
Try the db technologies es1203. Dual 12" in semi Horn Loaded wood cabinet. 3 channel 2400w amplifier so you CAN split the top for stereo sound. 1100 euro. 132 db with stock firmware but you can change Fir filters to get 10% more power.
The Portable Line Arrays are build for Portable and quick use, What's the point of having a Portable Line array if they are bulky and heavy just like an ordinary PA system? I'd rather bring a OG PA system than a Portable Line Array that is heavy and will stress my arms if I carry them on my gig? JBL Line array is build that way not for comparison of loudness.. It's Portable right? if Portable then you are expecting 100 to150 pax not 200 and above.. That's so nonsense to me. Those Line array except for the JBL Mk2 are just rubbish to me even they are louder I will not bring them to my Gig because you can't make them portable like putting their line arrays inside the sub to carry them in one hand and its like having a extra stand to carry and that's annoying.. Sound Quality JBL for me, I never heard anything as clean and quality, Yes the two other brand line arrays are louder just because they are not portable and they are basically large PA.
I didn't include my Bose 32's here cause I think they run at a higher speed- price, expectations, promise...This is my go to system.

Looking at either getting the J8 or a pair of EV ELX200 12sp subs. Currently I have EV ELX200 12p with a EKX 15sp sub. My plan is to either use the J8 or EV 12 inch subs with my 12 inch tops for those events up to 150. What do you think?
If you want to grab a column, I'd go with the J8s. They never let me down
Do you think it’s worth it to get a pair of the EV 12 inch subs since I already have a 15?
Thanks 👍🏼
I'm def a Bose guy too. I love the warmth and smoothness of the sound. And nothing beats the 180 degree dispersion. Glad you like the lights!
L1 Pro 16 is more comparable to 12" colums speakers, i think it's quite similar to an Evolve 50 or a PRX one
L1 Pro 16 must compare with RCF EVOX12 and JBL PRX ONE, hope there is a video of some comparison
Thx!
I think you're good with what you got. The column systems excel when the crowd is close to the source and not outdoors imo.
@@AaronStrawn ok thank you I appreciate your input.
What would you recommend between a pair of this or a regular pair of Mackie thumps or EV speakers?
My go to column right now is the LD Maui 28 G3 and 44G2s
Great comparison price to feature ratio and which one do I need 👏
I like your demo video...please tell me what song did you use while demo the set-up of the RCF..??
I believe I got that from Envato
@@AaronStrawn can you please let me download it..??
Hi mate! much appreciate your comparison👍👍 Have you heard the HK Audio Lucas 600 series? just over 16kg, down to 43hz, max SPL 130db (peak), which on paper is louder than all the other systems here.
Cool video, is the JMIX8 louder than the J8? I need it for medium to large ish weddings, 100 people. Tired of carrying bass bins etc around..
I'm not sure. I don't think it's louder. The biggest difference is the built in mixer on the back
I do small to medium weddings, do you think the RCF 910a's 2x with a RCF 705 15" sub will be enough for weddings of 150 people? I'd have a QSC K12.2 on site too.
My J8s have handled over 200. If those are more powerful (which I think they are) you should be good to go.
Just found this too. When you say you need two JBLs I presume you also mean plugged in for the full db Output yea? I opted for the “$100 less and it’s battery powered!” 😂
Oh good, you found this video lol. If you wanted to use the MK2 for a wedding reception with at least 100 people, yeah I would have 2 for sure.
Great comparison bro
Anyone on here who have teste a JBL 1000 partybox vs a PA syatem ? Now thinking about that JBL BT 310,710 and 1000 have inbuilt bass.
I'd say, if you're DJing events, stay away from the Partybox. That is more of a bluetooth speaker
@@AaronStrawn Thanks but 2 x partybox 1000 will work for 100-200 people dont you think ? I link them up using dacy chain, so the sound wont lagg.
I found what they all have in common is they all sound exactly like my laptop speakers.. 🤔😆🤘🏼✌🏼
Ouch lol
My choices are jbl eon one mk2 and rcf evox jmix8. Rcf evox jmix8 is so good
I'm happy with both of those too
What would you chose 2pcs jbl eon mk2 or 1pc rcf jmix8? For loud? Wedding
2 Jmix's. That is my current wedding DJ system
@@AaronStrawn thank you this is helpful ❤️
The mrk2 is the best speaker, everything about it, battery powered loud enough for outdoor busking
There no bass treble or mid control for the phone backing tracks
Is there an audible difference in dispersion between the three? Same question but compared to your Bose?
Out of the 3, I think the EV has the better dispersion. Compared the Bose, the Bose wins. That 180 fills the room
I've been looking to get a pair of RCF J8s or EV30s. After this review- I think I'll go with the J8👍 - curious if you ever consider the Evox 12s or EV50s?
Never really considered the 50s. The 12's are dope but too heavy for me lol. I'm rocking the Bose L1 32's right now
If you can find and afford the EVOX 12's DO IT, they are loud clean and will do easy up to 200-250 people at a wedding and small school dances.
We vibin' bro!
How much real battery run time are y’all getting out of the jbl?
@@dreamdaycharleston I’ve gotten 2 hrs and it drained 1 bar real world
@@dreamdaycharleston states 6 hours and so far pretty true to it. They have USB to 9v adaptors too so you can use the 2 USB ports for Boss pedals or some wireless systems
Check out sweetwater they are originally for the eon mk1 / eon pro but will work on the mk2 also.
if you want t use them up to 150 people or even 200 you have to plug them on AC for more power.
@@JHGurganus I liked the 50s sound. Especially the vocals. I reviewed them on my channel 😀
I’ve got the jbls . Let me tell you . I did a gig with 200 people and they rocked !! Glad I made the purchase .
That’s great to hear!
Do we need additional sub with the rcf for a party of 150 pax?
Adding one will give you more thump if that's what you like. I've done 150 with just the J8s lone
Can you plug a phone or ipad into the 1/4 jack socket on the back of the evox 8 & 12s and play music through the speakers from there? Just thinking for back up. Thanks
Yep
Aaron can you do a review of the Maui 44 G2 column array?
I'd love to...can you get someone from LD to send them to me lol
I’d love I to compare a G6 Lear with a G5 leg room 😉
I think Aaron did a great comparison but he missed out on the Maui as I heard that one is by far the best sounding line array on the market which is the Maui 44 G2.
Awesome video-have you had issues with rcf jmix 8 with the plastic sub cracking? Seems like they missed the mark on durability…
Nope, it looks pretty much like when I bought it. I got Tuki covers for them. And when I move them, I use a cart
JbL mk2 vs Bose pro 8 which one would you take ?
Pro 8 has a bigger sub and better sound- but the JBL is more versatile for the purposes I need, so, my pick is the JBL (battery, easy pack up, AFS). I use it for ceremony, cocktail and outdoor small parties
Are you still using the Bose L1 32 Pro?
Not really. Been taking my RCFs out to 90% of my gigs
I would think the jbl prx one would compete better against the rcf and Bose 32...12 inch sub, higher volume, $1600... Thoughts?
Yeah I would sneak the PRX one here. I just don't have it so couldn't compare. The 32 has an edge with a 15" sub
Had the PRX One for one gig. Glitchy app made it unusable and the auto Phantom Power doesn’t work properly so it turns on and off randomly. Also auto gain features for different inputs goes glitchy. Wouldn’t recommend, despite it sounds great.
Can we connect electronic drums to this PA SYSTEM?
Sure!
Great Review. U get a new subscriber
Thanks!
They nice but tomutch base as they set them up
How does the eon mk2 compare to the Maui 5 go in terms of loudness and sound quality?
My opinion, blows it out of the water
Maui cost 650 euro and it's very portable. It's output is enough for a background cocktail gig 50 people outdoor.
If you are thinking to do a dance party outdoor the jbl with 3-4 db more isn't the solution.
Maui5 Go bass is several levels down from the MK2!
You should try the LD system Maui 5 go
I have already 😬 ruclips.net/video/ibo4teS78IA/видео.html
Hello every1 i own 1 jmix8 and 1 j8 ...
Doing some great and nice job with it....🙌
I think I play too loudly lol. None of the column speakers would be loud enough for me. I need battery power though and a mixer so Eon would be what I would go with. Great video as always bro!
Meltin faces baby!
What about EV50? Does that get you more on-par with RCF? (more speakers in the 50, for example)
I agree. 50 is more on par with the J8. I just don’t have that speaker lol
How about K-array speakers?
💸💸💸
Or how about FBT vertus cs-1000
Haven't been able to hear these, wish I could
ruclips.net/video/SZOl-0lLk4s/видео.html
where is your Bose ?
I kept them out cause I think they are in a different class- price, sound, expectations...these 3 felt closer related. If they were added, it would be a slaughter lol
@@AaronStrawn You could have compared the Bose "House Sound." Smoothest mids but rolled off high end. I play my EV30 with my Pro32 and the EV has a high end which has a much cleaner, in your face PA sound people are used to from their point source speakers.
These are cute, but for the prices I will keep my rcf 745 tops and yorkville bass
Big advantage with columns is the portability. You def give up loudness and thump against tops and subs
Forgot Pyle Pro😊
Interesting review. Just a suggestion. How about playing some proper music with vocals and real instruments and not a bunch of electronic
It's so hard to get a good sound reading from a mic on a camera that's processed through RUclipss compression. Just wanted to give a little taste without getting a copyright strike
U forgot to mention the power outputs of the speakers.
Only cause I knew that could be looked up...and it bores me lol
It’s 4db higher when powered which is a big difference
RCF was warmer and fatter in the midbass and the JBL more studio monitor clear. the RCF's rubbery round midbass was way more exciting with the EV sounding almost as neutral as the JBL.
Eon MKll anytime! Better DSP features. The end!
Yea but a lot of those features are completely wasted on most djs. The end lol
Thanks Bill! If I had either the 8 or 16, I would def line them up with these. Hey Bose, wanna hook ya boy up??
@@AaronStrawn Why drag the heavy RCF when your Pro32/Sub2 is only slightly heavier?
@@WWeiss-nv5vz exactly. That’s why I bought the 32s. For smaller gigs, I can just use one set and I’m good to go
@@WWeiss-nv5vz what's the price difference between the two?
@@lucabertolaso2167 EV30m $1,300 JBL MK2 $1,200
Personally, I think the RCF would win just by having an adjustable pole. Most all the column speakers are just too short to get over the crowd unless the crowd is seated...
It doesn't look as pretty, and you need a cable, but I agree- huge advantage
The RCF compares better with the JBL PRX One. Same price, same size, same power. And I’d pick the PRX all day any day over the RCF (I did).
RCF is a clear winner. But if you tried RCF Evox 12, it would demolish all 3 of these.
definitely. That system is a beast with 15" subs
How U compair the JBL frx1
Haven’t heard those
It's normal that JMIX has more bass than the others, it has a 12 "subwoofer against 10" for the other two.
Compare Jmix with JBL PRX One or Evolve 50 it will be a fairer fight 👍
DB TECHNOLOGIES 1203?
I need to check these out. Never heard any DB’s in person
Thank you Jessie Pinkman 🧪🔮👍🏽
lol
From my listening levels jbl has the most crisp and clear sound the bass is also awesome than the 2 of them jbl wins
Compared to JBL EON MK2 how much Volumen and bass have the RCF Evox J8?
Will work for amp. a couple guitars, 2 vocals, 1 cajon and 1 saxophone?
J8 is louder and more Bass. For what you want, I'd go with the J8 over the JBL
I wouldn't give up sound quality just for a battery
The inflation rant lol
I want my shit!
Love how the EV’s look but I keep hearing they just don’t perform well or they fatigue over time, I’m most likely pulling the trigger on the RCF j8’s I keep hearing better things about them
For a wedding dance, I agree. Don't think they are right for the job
I picked up a JMIX & J8 late last year and have been LOVING them! Plenty of power for the venues and weddings I do in this area.

Personally hate speakers with mixers built in. All that money spent on the mixer should ave gob=ne into the "SOUND quality" not the mix. I bet majority of users use a mixer then feed the speaker with signal - I could be wrong.
I personally have used the mixer feature many times. I comes in handy having an all-in-one, but for sure there are drawbacks

I guess K Array doesn't compare because $$$$$
Bose L116pro i like better
The small speakers cannot take distortion. Sounds absolutely terrible
RCF the best
They're my preference as well
2 M30's for 60-80 ppl..? I'm thinkin more like 100-150 ppl. I'm not tryin to blow the non dancers away..
