I absolutely love the cut between you’re the only savior for humanity to him immediately getting surrounded by zombies and his arm almost being bitten off
1:37 They are still called "Infected" in the World of "Dying Light." They just call them differently to distinguish them. Like "Bitter" is just a name they use for a Normal Zombie, so that they know it can do nothing but walk around and bite. It has no special abilities of sorts. "Virals" are the Zombies that are nearly as Agile as the Player. "Volatiles" are called like that for obvious reasons (look: Volatile's design). Etc. They call them like that, so they know which ones they are up against, and how much on alert they should be while fighting them. *Infected, because they don't exactly fit the description of a Zombie. They don't die, and then turn. The Infected are people that turned while still being alive, simply because the Virus took over their body completely. Best example is Jade, who is herself one moment, and like 3 seconds later, she turns into a Viral right in front of us, while still being consious and fighting Rais' Bandits. Whereas, in the Series such as "The Walking Dead" the people that turn into Walkers, are people that already died and then turned. Edit: Yes they are referred to as "Zombies" a few times - I never said otherwise. But that is NOT the official terminology created for the Universe and used within it. Of course some characters will call them "Zombie" - the concept exists in the Universe presented (in their pop-culture), and the Infected tend to act as such. But that doesn't change the fact, that the Infected are not actually Zombies...
I played this game back when it launched, cleared it on my shitty computer and loved it. Years later I now come back to it and the game has so much new stuff, it's amazing. 7 years later and this game still slaps like it was released yesterday.

I think Crane burning the Antizin helps develop his character early on, showing he's the perfect soldier and wants to see the mission through, exactly as ordered. Dying Light is great, the first several hours are rough as hell but once you upgrade all the skill trees it's amazing. Same with mirror's edge catalyst. The sense of speed and movement and combat and the environment is so cool
Dying Light blew my freaking mind back when I played it in 2016 after the Following had come out. Not only was the gameplay and parkour amazing, the atmosphere and story was surprisingly good. Also, the brick textures in this game are still one of the best looking bricks.
My favorite memory of this game was doing a side mission at a power station and ending up surrounded by a mob near dusk so rather than try to leg it, I barracaded myself in the office and waited for dawn. Listening to the zombie noises and screams was harrowing.
I missed this game when it came out, I was super burned out on zombie games, but I bought it this year on the holiday sale on pSN for 15 bucks for the complete edition and hot damn, it’s been a wild ride. Pretty stoked for the sequel.
I come back to this game a decent bit. It’s always fun, even just running around clocking random zombies with a lightning hammer or a toxic machete without an objective in mind.
Fun fact: The "Invincible" enemies Charlie is fighting aren't. I've actually killed them on the hardest possible difficulty, they just have a lot of HP for the early game
the reason it didn't blow up when he threw it was because it was despawning before hitting the ground; once it blew up after he punctured first and threw it then it stopped respawning
@@nmxsanchez ok? You could say that about Days Gone, the Walking Dead, or any other zombie game with a story. It’s not about the zombies, it’s about the people.
@Skellie Man yeah I could say that, and I would. Still true. Not sure what your point is by saying that. About the people? Not really it's strength either. The gameplay is what this game is known for.
I've had this game in my library since release and somehow ended up never playing it until about a week ago. This game is hilarious, you can just kick ENDLESSLY. No need for any other plays, just beat down those zombies like you're gonna mug them and then feels their nips for cash. 10/10
@1:52 so fun fact, that trope of zombies being given odd nicknames came from Marvel comics copywriting the word "zombies" from the 70s up until the 90s so other people had to come up with clever alternatives to not get sued
I remember watching typical gamer play this as a freshman, honestly the story isn't half bad but the work that went into the gameplay is what makes it immortal.
Yeah, it’s an entertaining story that gets the job done. The following expansion is where they really flexed their storytelling muscles. I fucking adored that dlc, maybe even more than I did the main game.
Haven't seen anyone mention the PvP in this game where you got to become a night hunter and hunt down humans trying to destroy your zombie nests, or be the humans trying to destroy the zombie nests. Legitimately one of my favorite PvP game modes because it's not a shooter, it's largely tactics and map knowledge for either side. Sometimes you get a new player and they're easy to beat, on either side, and sometimes either the night hunter is so good you're getting constantly pummeled, or the humans are so good and well organized it doesn't matter if you were a max death night hunter because you'd get parried into spikes or off of buildings constantly trying to defend your nests.
Honestly pvp isn’t my favourite, not because it’s bad but because of the players that I match. If they are playing as the night hunter and they see I can play the game, they leave so they can beat newer/worse players. And then there are the cheaters, maybe it’s just me but around 1/3 of the games I’m about to win they turn on a cheat that instantly destroys all nests and teleports on top of me for a plunge attack, instantly killing me and winning the game.
@@him7339 i haven't played in a good year or two but when i played i didn't encounter these problems. Sometimes a group of 250's would message me with either love or hate when i played the night Hunter, but i didn't experience many quitters or any cheaters. Matchmaking as a human was tough though because most matchmade players weren't very experienced and the night Hunter would often run train on them taking all of the lives Sad to hear that cheating common now though

4:25 rais men at the beggining of the game are in fact NOT invincible, you CAN kill them if you hit them long enough, it's just that at this stage of the game they are still too strong for you, tho if you're skilled enough you can dodge their attacks for long enough to finally kill them, you can get their weapons as well as the drop..... which only has grenades
Here's hoping that Dying Light 2 actually lives up to expectations. Hearing Jonah Scott, the VA of the protagonist, just be so excited about the game made ME excited.

They are still called "Infected" in the World of "Dying Light."
They just call them differently to distinguish them.
Well said
I've heard rais soldiers call the zombies walkers

Matchmaking as a human was tough though because most matchmade players weren't very experienced and the night Hunter would often run train on them taking all of the lives
Sad to hear that cheating common now though
