  • I walk you thru replacing the incandescent mini light bulb in your steering wheel radio control buttons on Camaro and Firebird models that came with this option. I believe this will apply to 1995 thru 2002 vehicles.

Glad I found this. Had my bird since new in 98 and for the last 10 years or so been driving around with the volume light out. Irks me to no end but didn't know how to fix it!

Nice. Now I know. I will say though if your buttons are starting to peel paint it's easier to swap the buttons. The airbag usually has a backup battery supply even when the vehicle battery is disconnected. In an emergency situation it needs it's own power source. It was not disabled. That black plastic on the original bulb should of been reinstalled on the new bulb. That was to prevent the two wires from touching during vibration or such.

Can you take out the switch without removing the airbag?

You have to remove it, but your not disconnecting the wires. Don’t be nervous just follow my steps. I’ve done this 4-5 times over the years
