"And you sir, you must be the groom." What a brilliant deduction on Forbes's part! You may remember him as Buddy Repperton in the Stephen King movie "Christine." The guy playing Billy was in that movie, too.
The "duel" and the subsequent battle between Billy and La Motte is my favorite sequence throughout the film, and the most I enjoy is when Billy, unaware of anything, helps her humiliate Homer, and then, after the fight, Charles and Brett help get up tired Billy in front of Homer. This is a very strong scene
Yes. It's a pity, that he didn't play Billy in books two and three. I liked John Stockwell in that role. He was able to show emotions well, such as fear and anger, which are clearly visible in this scene. And that was missing from Parker Stevenson at times.

John Stockwell had a small role in "Top Gun" he portrayed Cougar the pilot who froze and Maverick replaced. An earlier comment didn't realize Forbes portrayed Buddy in Christine.
The ONLY people whom Justin would've had any kind of feelings for, would've been LaMottes. You have to remember, that the first LaMotte, had settled in what became South Carolina, a year before the first Main had done so. And that as a result, Justin (like all LaMottes), felt that this had given him a patent of nobility; it made him quite an arrogant ass.
It's been 30 years since I read the books. Where the hell did Forbes come from? He just pops up, from no where, to be the "son" that Justin wanted. Kinda how Charles just showed up. We know a little about him, but not the full circumstances as to why he's there.
Forbes dolling out those insults like a robot, he even said it with no emotion; making obvious to Billy, that he just wants them to have a legal duel; and if the pistols are messed with, no one can determine that after the fact, so the conspirators don't have to worry about that then.
They've had so many actors playing William Hazzard AKA Billy and then for the Sisters of Ori Main in book 1 the sisters change total of 5 times the last time was when they were in there late teens early twenties but each ranging from 7 to 13 they changed four times the great miniseries

Yes, no one carried duelling pistols around with them normally! Plus, duels strictly adhered to specific customs. @@malcolml309 Right! And Billy, like any other male in the mid-19th century, would immediately have suspected foul play for three reasons: 1)Forbes just happens to have a pair of dueling pistols with him. 2)As the party being challenged to the duel, Billy is NOT being given the choice of weapons (usually either pistols or sabers). Major breach of protocol here. 3)Billy has not been challenged by Forbes days in advance--another major breach of the Code Duello--the rules for dueling. Patrick Swayze certainly learned how to hop around on one leg! LOL
No one even mentioned the Swayze's great move at 1:32! I wonder how much practice that took to master the one-legged stair hop.
Charles was an amazing character and the relationship between him and Billy was great. Just wish they reunited after Book 2.

Yep I noticed that too
Wonderful duel . Thanks for sharing the video tribute ❤.
Apparently they forgot Charles is a Main.
Good aim, Homer!
Buddy Repperton had a score to settle with Dennis Guilder after he dared to stick up for Arnold and getting burned to a crisp by Arnies car
The guy playing Billy also played "Cougar" in TOP GUN.
That's why he couldn't reprise his roll, in the rest of the episodes. He was filming Top Gun.

Billy no! It’s what they came fawh!
That wasn’t a duel. In a true duel, both parties act with honor, and there is neutral party present to ensure fairness.
True, this was an attempted murder disguised as a duel with serious cheating.
Per my 1858 copy of Code Duello, should a principal cheat, the second can kill him, on the spot.
