He'll come back. They left his body in the upside down. The town thinks he was the killer. Henry will puppeteer his corpse into being a killer and make this song choice come full circle. The town will think they were right the entire time.
Fun fact: The Duffer brothers casted Joseph Quinn before they knew he could play guitar. He was very modest and said he’s “pretty good” at playing guitar and spent hours perfecting this scene. So Joseph Quinn is quite literally shredding Metallica in this scene! Edit: I was not aware of the time of commenting that Joseph also had a hand double. A song that I'm listening over 30 years without skipping single second. The day I listened during watching the serie it gave me the goosebump that i felt 30 years ago...
This is more epic when you find out that Joseph Quinn (who portray's Eddie) actually played the vast majority of the guitar parts and really digs the song. Absolutely amazing
This is literally the original recording of Master of Puppets lol, it's James Hetfield singing and playing rhythm and Kirk Hammett on lead. It's literally the original track that was released on the album lol
I sure hope Joseph Quinn knows that his short time as our "Eddie" made a huge impact on the viewers/fans. He didn't just play a part. He "became" Eddie in every scene he was in. And I was wrong about the song choice..Metal was perfect.
I hope so too. Eddie quickly tied with Steve and Robin as my favourite character. He reminded me dearly of Klaus from The Umbrella Academy and Vol. 1 came at a time I was really missing Klaus. We love you Joseph and we loved Eddie!
@@WeiderMystic I disagree… with all the clouds and red lightening another Metallica song comes to mind. “Ride the lightening” would have come a close second.
What alot of people don't realize. Is that Eddie Munson only had like 3 weeks to learn Master of Puppets. It came out March of 86 the same month this is taking place. Meaning every moment he wasn't at school or playing dnd. He was pouring his heart into playing his beloved guitar
That end part where Dustin says “Dude! Most. Metal. Ever!!!!” And then they jump up and down together like two excited children… That’s the best part of the entire season!
I've always loved the metalhead archetype, but especially the ones with bottomless levels of energy and enthusiasm. It's infectious and quite charming to me

@@mercy6549 Really? I don't see that at all. I think he was always a good guy, just a non-conformist. He reminds me so much of guys I went to school with in the '80s, rough exterior, but hearts of gold.
@@MYcoloradoplateau Oh no, I meant how the town saw him, they still think that he's this satanist that was on this killing spree. I absolutely loved his character he gave me major RDJ vibes even though people hate the thought of me saying that haha but he really did.
This whole season I was thinking that no matter how good it was they couldn't top the never ending story scene. But by god they did it. I'd give anything to watch this scene for the first time again.
Never ending Story wasn't actually contributing to the storyline. "Masters of Puppets" is a heroic display. Both were cool, but yeah, this concert was way more important for the show.
I love the added touch of Dustin head banging to the whole thing. It's like, "Yes, this is a dangerous and life-threatening situation, but my friend is putting on an awesome performance, so damn it, I'm rocking to it!"
It’s a shame only a few people truly knew who Eddie really was. Instead Hawkins knows him as a cult leader and a monster. The scene with Dustin giving Eddie’s uncle his guitar pick brought me to tears. Dustin was the one who had the most history with Eddie and seeing him tell his uncle how he was a hero broke me. Rip the legend, gone but not forgotten
Eh, live for yourself, not for others. Don't validate yourself through other's perception of you. Eddie probably did this instinctively and was likely happier than his peers who looked down on him.
This is one of those scenes that even months later you get an urge and have to watch it a few times on repeat. Major respect for taking guitar lessons and learning the song, making that scene just mind-blowing freaking awesome.
I'm jealous that Dustin got to personally witness the most epic shred in t.v. history. Eddie was a legend, and legends never die. I hope that Eddie's name gets cleared in season 5, and that Hawkins builds a monument in his honor. And I'm glad Argyle will be returning as well.
Billy's rage, Eddie's guitar skills, Vecna's Badass walk and deep voice, hellish vibe and Metallica music and 80s jocks racing the car and American and british actors giving their best. 80s pop culture at its peak
This scene, throwing the cocktail at vecna, and Max's running up that hill scene were my three favorites in this season. Freaking lost my mind when Eddie started playing one my favorite songs.
Master of Puppets was already FANTASTIC, but in this scene with the lightning and wind in the background made this song 1,000 times better and DEAR LORD, I have never seen a more metal scene in any film EVER. This-by far-is the coolest metal scene in the history of film making! Great job stranger things on making this scene!
@@imkool51391 I thought she might actually die, personally. It looked like even though they'd found a way to help her escape it might've been too late.
Nowadays you can see cover videos popping up on RUclips of a song released only a few days ago, and really complicated metal songs too. So it's not impossible. Eddie most probably bought the album the day it came out and took only a week to learn all 8 songs on it.
When he dedicated his performance to Chrissy I had already felt my heart breaking and had thought back to their first conversation together and when Dustin was talking to his uncle about how people would've loved him if they had actually gotten to know him I thought back to that. Eddie was truly an amazing character. ❤️
Max's story was insane this season. So much respect for Sadie Sink for absolutely nailing her character! And Eddie was my fave new character this season, it was sad to see him go.
@@Rambleon31 They wanted to kill someone to really make an impact on the seriousness of the threat. And they chose a character introduced same-season rather than a multiple-season fan fave.
He died like a fucking idiot lol. This show is absolute trash, they just introduce new "cool" characters at the beginning of the season so they can have a sad scene at the end when they kill them. Absolute mediocre Netflix show xD
The fact that Joseph Quinn ACTUALLY played the song makes it even better. Eddie went full shred! (yes the solo I believe was someone else for the close up shots but still, there’s video of him actually playing that damn song)
This was the most hype i felt during Stranger Things, with everything going on, being as intense as it is, my favorite character this season picking up a guitar and plays my favorite band ever! Just everything about this scene was awesome!
I'm looping this scene over and over again. The epicness of it is every metalhead's dream. Eddie will forever be remembered as one of the most lovable characters of all the seasons.
This scene really is just the best thing ever. Whether it's a flashback, vampire or a resurrection there's no doubt in my mind we'll see Eddie in the next season in some capacity. Way too huge of a draw to not be included at all.
As devastated as I am that he's gone, they couldn't have given him a better ending. Dying a hero and passing on the torch to the next generation after playing the most metal concert of all time is a hell of a way to go 🖤⚡
The writing of the line “Chrissy, this is for you” hits so hard on so many levels. A nod to someone who gave a nod to him. Eddie’s character is so brave and genuine the entire time we know him, just nobody tells him. He could have easily made himself a victim and made Chrissy into a bad memory but he dedicates this song to her even while Chrissy’s boyfriend and the whole town believes Eddie killed her and is hunting him down - he even keeps his Hellfire shirt on! This to me was “show don’t tell” he was still Hellfire’s leader no matter what anyone believed, because they showed him respect. The other main characters don’t listen to Eddie’s music but he gives Steve his Dio vest to wear telling Steve he’s “metal”, almost to say Steve is brave and he wants to be brave too so he dresses Steve like him. Eddie also tries offering his tapes to play for Nancy to get her out of Vecna’s trance because to him it’s beautiful music. He was too old for highschool and was known as “the freak” but Chrissy (the cool kid’s girlfriend) remembered Eddie’s band and supported his music, so for his last metal set he dedicates it to her who truly understood and supported him. What a show, so much happens in my mind between the actions characters take, wonderful writing.
In another universe, Chrissy is alive and has gotten to know how genuine Eddie is and realized what a monster her bf is.. when they graduate high school, Chrissy gets with Eddie and supports him on his music career.
i was literally crying when eddie died and also that time when everyone in hawkins still think that he is a villian hopefully eddie gets his heroism in season 5
@@TheSoulExtension you mean dustin. no one out of the group seemed to care. what a shame to let a character die that way. especially a character like eddie
Eddie definitely cemented a place in Stranger Things History! I was crushed when he met his end! But at least before he went, he played his heart out! The Metal Gods would be proud of that performance! Best part of season 4!
everytime i watch this scene, i tear up. Just because I know Joseph Quinn actually put his heart and soul into that whole song. And I also know he felt like he didn't deserve the role as Eddie. I could not imagine anyone else as our outcaster Eddie The Banished Munson
Everything about this scene was perfect. From the dark sky with red lightning, the otherworldly environment, and the bats flying. This was so much fun to watch!
You remember in the beginning when Eddie tells Chrissy he’s in a band and that they play here and there. Some would think he’s just boasting and is a wannabe musician. And then this scene shows up and proves just how much of a skilled musician he really is. LONG LIVE EDDIE MUNSON!!
Eddie is already at the top tier level as a guitarist. When a guitarist personifies his guitar as a lover, we can immediately tell how he is very attached to his guitar.
What I love the most is the actor actually plays guitar and was able to do a lot of the chords himself, with a professional to do the more difficult bits on screen
I feel like everyone went to high-school with an Eddie, that's why he's so endearing and loved, there's a lot to identify with the character. I had friends that loved metal and would all sing the verses to Master of Puppets and someone like Eddie would be leading it for sure. Such a rad character that I wish didn't have to die and I hope the writers honor him in the next season with Dustin somehow. R.I.P. Eddie Being judged before having the opportunity to prove themselves, being cast as the mischief and troublemaker when you're not
"I hope the writers honor him in the next season with Dustin somehow." If a timeskip does happen, which seems likely, I'm really hoping that Eddie's dad gave Dustin Eddie's guitar during the timeskip and Dustin started teaching himself how to play in honor of Eddie. It would be something 'extra' they could give Dustin too. -We learned that Will paints this season, he has the connection to the Upside-Down and the Mindflayer, and he is struggling with some issues internally (possibly gay). -Mike has his relationship with Eleven going for him, story-wise, and he is the 'leader' of the group. -Eleven has her powers, her relationship with Mike, and her past trauma. -Lucas has his relationship with Max and his struggles with wanting to fit in and be popular. -Max obviously has A LOT of stuff that will be going on for her next season. -And then Dustin has a long-distance relationship with someone he didn't really even interact with in S4 outside of having her help to change a grade at the very beginning, and... he has braces? I mean, that isn't all but I feel like he is the least-fleshed-out of the group of kids. I guess he's got his attachements to Steve and Eddie, kind of like wanting a big brother to hang out with. He doesn't need to turn into a hardcore metalhead or anything but him taking up the guitar would be cool and they could probably find some ways to incorporate that into the show. The link between heavy metal and D&D in the 80s is too strong to leave it contained in just Season 4.
"This year, is my year. I can feel it!" He literally meant it! He saved Hawkins like a HERO. May he gets the love and respect from the people of Hawkins which he deserves, in the upcoming season. Rest in power Eddie 'the Freak'Munson ❤️
Granted the musical choices for this series since season 1 have always been outstanding, but yes this season they absolutely crushed it i mean just look at Kate Bush soaring to #1 on the charts nearly 40 years after that song came out lol
This scene was awesome and the choice to use Master of Puppets for the song was great, but honestly? I feel like they missed an opportunity to make it even better by not playing Ozzy, either Mr. Crowley or Crazy Train, and then end the song with a single bat showing up early, attacking Eddie, and Eddie biting its head off.
Master of Puppets was release in early March 1986. This season is set at the end of March 1986. Eddie learned the entire song, solo and all, in under a month. Not only was a hero and not a coward, he also wasn’t a high school flunky. He’s a musical genius!

@@LightCheck70 First, learn to english. Second, I don't think we watched the same show, drugs weren't a motivation to Eddie in the show, he did sell them, but he never "needed" them to as motivation to do anything, same to his guitar. Eddie is a nobody, an outcast, excluded from society just for not fitting in. And if we go by your logic, Naruto needed to steal a forbidden scroll do pass the jutsu test, he needed Kurama to defeat Neji, and countless other foes after that. He needed to train with the best ninjas. Naruto is a child of prophecy, he was destined to be Hokage, to be strong, to win. Eddie is a nobody, insecure, yet he shows empathy for those in the same place, recruiting other outcasts, taking care of them so they make through school alright. In the end, the cowardly kid turned around an fought for his whole town, despite the fact that he was weak, scared and everyone in the town hated him. Well that’s good cause he’s turning into a ugly adult.
It’s a shame only a few people truly knew who Eddie really was. Instead Hawkins knows him as a cult leader and a monster. Rip the legend, gone but not forgotten

Eh, live for yourself, not for others. Don't validate yourself through other's perception of you. Eddie probably did this instinctively and was likely happier than his peers who looked down on him.

It actually enhances his character to be honest. He helped despite everyone thinking he's a murderer. Definitely a well written character.

What a show, so much happens in my mind between the actions characters take, wonderful writing.
this is a perfect interpretation, thank you for sharing :)

Especially since at that point in time Master of Puppets had only been out for a few weeks
Eddie is already at the top tier level as a guitarist. When a guitarist personifies his guitar as a lover, we can immediately tell how he is very attached to his guitar.
He plays here and there. Sometimes on earth, sometimes alternate dimensions and broken realities. Eddie the Faye bard. There is no way he is dead.
It's amazing that he can play the guitar, and also make the drums and vocals materialize out of thin air!

I love it when Dustin bops his head to the beat of “Obey your master . MASTER !!! “
R.I.P. Eddie
Being judged before having the opportunity to prove themselves, being cast as the mischief and troublemaker when you're not
"I hope the writers honor him in the next season with Dustin somehow." If a timeskip does happen, which seems likely, I'm really hoping that Eddie's dad gave Dustin Eddie's guitar during the timeskip and Dustin started teaching himself how to play in honor of Eddie.

As a metal head, I was up on my heels when Eddie finds his guitar in the upside down.
This has got to be my favorite scene out of the ENTIRETY of Stranger Things. Master of Puppets with the aesthetic of the Upside Down all around him, with the constant thunder/lightning is really awesome!

Metallica is the best band of metal.
Imagine if he played Ride the lightning? 🤣
This was my most favorite scene in all of stranger things! When he played the first few notes and knowing it was Metallica I smiled so hard and started crying and clapping! This scene itself brought the intensity of sinister/horror feel with these few minutes!!! And man with Vecna at the top of the stairs that gave me major Freddie Kruger vibes 🥹🥹
Especially when he says" NANCY"😮😮😮✌✌✌✌
Fun fact is thats the same actor that played Freddie Kruger too so he knew perfectly how to play his role as a mind intruder
@@brysonpaul5183 the actor who played victor creel (robert englund) is the one who played freddie krueger because jamie bowie is the one who played vecna
@@brysonpaul5183 no Victor Creel father of(Vecna/Henry/01) lol. Was played by Robert Englund but Vecna in a sense was very close to Freddy Kruger
@@leaureen ohh okay, my bad lol
To whoever felt the same, the lightning , the passion in playing, the pain you can see from him playing so hard , one of my favorite scenes from anything
DRAWING STRANGER THINGS CHARACTERS... | IT'S HERE ON THE CHANNEL !!!!!!!
I felt it, my right arm hurts every time from all the down picking
I'm pretty sure he didn't play the solo tho
Ride the lightning
@@justyouraveragehumanbeing7411 he didnt he said it on an interview the close up shots was another guitarrist and the sound came from the son of trujillo playing
Eddie Munson 😭😭😭this scene.... goosebumps... Specially when Dustin says...'Most metal everrrrrrrrr!!!'
Elon musk must be in stranger things
One of the best characters in all of Stranger Things yet. He’ll be missed. R.I.P Eddie 💔
wouldn't say one of the best but he was well written
@@TheAllTimeSilliestGoose its almost as if its their opinion on the matter lol.
@@TheAllTimeSilliestGoose I humbly disagree, he is one of the best characters.
@@joshuaciez7112 No, his opinion is the only one that matters. The op must agree with his opinions, vote how he votes, like what he likes. He is not allowed to form his own opinions. 👹👹👹👹“OBEY YOUR MASTER”
Great character! And has usual they kill them off. It should have been Eleven. I am getting tired of her.
It’s sad to think that Eddie died for a town that hated him, people thought he was a villain and he was the monster doing all this.
Really disappointed Eddie Munson died and I do hope he’s back in season 5 as the duffer brothers regretted killing Eddie after seeing how loved he was.
R.I.P Eddie Munson, we love you! 🪦💐
I hope that by the end of season 5 that Hawkins as a whole finds out about the Upside Down and the Vecna and that Eddie gets redeemed in the public eye
@@ryanmuhlenberg1480 omgg yes 🥺🥺
Hopefully he will be back tho but sadly I think it's very unlikely cause we watched him die and idk if there would be a way to bring him back :(
Yeah I hate they killed him off smh, he brought alot to season 4
@@251Jarvis yea he was one of the best characters in s4. I’m really sad he died 😭
Eddie In only 9 episodes made every body love him have some of the best scenes in the whole series what a legend the actor did an amazing job
DRAWING VECNA 011 & STRANGER THINGS CHARACTERS | IT'S HERE ON THE CHANNEL !!!!!
This had to be one of the most metal scenes ever shot in cinematography history.
Wow... I can't believe they would give away the best scene in *ALL* of Stranger Things away for FREE. Literally the best scene in the entire series.
I mean did they though it was immediately all over the internet anyway
@@matthewmaren2770 Yeah but I mean officially by Netflix themselves :p

I agree with you this scene is the best in the entire series
Tryin to bring in new viewers. This is literally why i started watching it cause of this scene. Took me a week to watch seasons 1-4.
Nothing could be better than this scene, I also watched it several times, it was the best way to tribute a character who became the most favorite one in just one season, Eddie Munson you will be missed 🥀💐
"I think it's my year, Henderson. I think it's finally my year."

And tysm for the likes.
