It is so awesome how lex just naturally recognizes great songs almost instantly. And it is crazy how much joy I get from watching her discover these gems. You guys have no idea how many of my days you have brightened, thank you.
Fuckin A Lex, as many times as we have listened to you describe the musical emotion of a song that you feel, you still come up with analogies that blow my mind with how creepily accurate you are. Heard this song countless times, not once did I picture being lost at sea in a storm until you just made me do it right then.
You can't go wrong with Shinedown. Brent's vocals are always amazing, the lyrics are meaningful and the band is top notch. Cut the Cord, Brilliant, Enemies, My Name...all high impact choices but so many songs to choose from
This song made me fall in love with shine down. Been a huge fan ever since. Went to see them with sixx am and five finger death punch. Shine down stole the show!!!
That must have been a dope show. I've seen Shinedown several times. They used to go to El Paso/ las Cruces every year . First time i saw them was when they were on their first tour with 3 Doors Down before they were really big. Met them a few times. Totally nice guys.
@vincentgiaquinto1620 I think they are good. I saw that same tour. Love Shinedown but I do really like SixxAm. Nikki Sixx is the guitarist. There hit song is Life is beautiful
I love the interpretation and appreciation you both presented for this song. Insanely and imperfectly perfect. If loving Brad & Lex is wrong, then I don't wanna be right. 💖😆🤘
This song came out when I was very young and many people thought that the meaning of this song was dedicated to a friend of the singer who had an accidental misfire with a gun that ended their life. The singer came out and stated that staring down the barrel of a .45 means staring down the barrel of life, and figuring out what you want to do and who you will become.
In this episode of Brad & Lex, Brent Smith's strong yet vulnerable cadence and dark melody manipulates Lex's movements miraculously. Brad will absorb the provided atmosphere calmly while watching his words as Lex becomes visual sound releasing the embodiment of the energy she captures in the form of multiple "bops" such as the "shoulder pad", the "conductor", "swivel head", "the twitch", and "gather hands". She expresses her interest in the journey through thick and thin and is up for the experience in exchange for growth.
fackin Smitty! you need to get a job as a spin doctor,or something! You could probably convince people that Trump is sane! Your poetry is THAT epic! 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for taking the time to review this song. I'm still holding on and your channel brings a smile to the heart when i didnt think that was even possible. Enjoy life and each other.
I have a weird story about this song. I was traveling for work (east coast to Norman, Oklahoma). First time in Oklahoma. Didn’t know anyone so I was sitting outside in the courtyard of the hotel one evening drinking a beer and taking in the scenery, relaxing. A guy sits down at my table and we start chatting. We weren’t talking about music but all of the sudden he says I’m in a band let me know what you think and starts singing this song and looking at me without breaking eye contact. He was taking it very serious and was staring into my soul giving it all he had. Was not very good, like bad American Idol audition. It was very awkward so I just listened and didn’t want to hurt his feelings I told him it was great after he finished. I have never had a man randomly sing to me before but I can tell you it was one unique experience. First time hearing Shinedown as well.
Shinedown has a beautiful catalog of music to get lost in, really, and their concerts are always fantastic. There is a reason I've seen them 5 times, and that they were my kids first concert. Brent has a way of reaching right into your soul. You really won't regret going down this rabbit hole
Shinedown singer Brent Smith said that the song is about hope and fighting against the odds. It's about becoming comfortable with yourself. The 45 is a metaphor for the world and what the world or life throws at you. It's about overcoming that and moving forward.
This is the song that introduced me to SHINEDOWN. The album was "Leave A Whisper", my favorite song on that album(CD) was "45", but I'm not talking about this release of "45" but the last song on the album, the acoustic version of "45". I've tried to sing it as Brent Smith does but I can't get the breathing technique right and I always get a headache from trying. This song is vocally amazing and has a deep meaning. Life is like ‘staring down the barrel of a 45’ and because of the gun reference "45" was banned on some radio stations and MTV. The best version to listen to is the last song on the CD. Here's the link ruclips.net/video/PD_D23yDBPU/видео.html 𝐃𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 - 𝟒𝟓 (𝐀𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐥𝐲𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐬), 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐥𝐲𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐃 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐬 𝐝𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜.
Lex was just my spirit animal for a second there. That song is my jam, and it's just an amazing sounding song, and that's 100% me jamming out to that in the car.
Wow! She got that one perfect on every point. The release. The all by yourself. Never heard it her way but the ocean makes perfect sense. As a person who's suffers from depression, it's a never ending battle. It has nothing to do with being sad.
It is so funny to watch you two. It's like you could literally cut the screen down the middle and think you were listening to/watching different things. Lex is so animated and Brad is so stoic. LOL Just love me some Brent Smith.
I think this is my favorite reaction that you two have done. Seeing Brad struggling with the sadness of the song and how awesomeness of the song. And Lex was in the zone like I haven't seen in a while. Greet job, y'all. Much love.
I just recently discovered yalls channel and lex... you're such an empath! 😊 you don't listen to a song... no your soul embraces and absorbs the songs essence... I know this because I am one of these type people. Not many of us around tbh
I'm new to watching you guys. Love it! I love how Brad is so into the lyrics and Lex is more into the music, you play well off each other. I do hope you explore more Shinedown they are an amazing band.
I had to watch this reaction again. 😂 can't wait til you hear more. especially their brand new song planet zero. I'd love to get Brad's take on the lyrics and Lexs vib on the song.
I love all of Shinedown. I will say that I love their older stuff, but one of my go to songs has been "Get Up" because I relate to it on so many levels! Love you guys and I love watching Lex get into it so much. Lex feels the music and I relate to people who can feel a song so deeply!
I totally agree with Lex it is all about the release getting it out and being pure to yourself. It's really a touching song and it just depends on the listener is to how it touches them.
You feel music in your body viscerally the way I do. There are parts of songs where I'll move all different parts of me or I'll just have to close my eyes, b/c I'm so taken over by it. I def get it!
LEX! Your enthusiasm and expression of a song is just sick! Makes people focus on the song even more! You have to check out the acoustic version of this song . Vocals are even more amazing!
Many people think this is about suicide, but the song is actually about hope, to fight against the odds. Shinedown lead singer Brent Smith told Foundry Music: "I think a lot of people kind of take a literal sense because of the lyrics - but the song is basically about the day that you wake up and you look at yourself in the mirror and you finally decide that you want to try to become comfortable in your own skin, and realize that you're gonna have to make yourself happy before you're going to make anyone else happy. And basically, the 45 isn't an actual literal term for a gun, I used it as a metaphor for the world, the 45 is actually the world and what it hands you every day of your life. When you get up, it's a gift to be alive to begin with. A lot of different people, when I've talked about it, they said, 'Do you really honestly mean that?' And I'm like, 'Well, yeah.' Because I've been in that situation where I didn't know if I wanted to continue going on and I didn't know how to necessarily make myself comfortable with who I was, trying to find a way of learning more about myself. And you come from a dark place sometimes, and that's really the reality of the song. It's about overcoming and about moving forward. And it's basically about understanding that it's not always going to be good, but you really have no one to blame for yourself if you don't move forward. That's where the whole, 'Nobody knows what I believe,' comes from because we're all individuals. So that's really where it comes from, it's about moving on, really
SAME> In this Moment wont ever win a poll you gonna need to so some one off videos for it. I would be cool with Adrenalize as well but there is a ton of stuff you can do from them. Would love to see their cover of "in the air tonight" as it is a lyric video but wont give you their full sound. Big Bad wolf or Whore would be good introductions as well.
Shinedown is great! All of their music is just so freaking good! Brent Smith is incredibly talented. If you ever have the opportunity to see them live, DO IT! You will not regret it!
Shinedown might be my favorite rock band of the 21st century. Brent Smith has a strong, electric voice that's perfect for rock music. Really good song I listen to it a lot when I was dealing with some depression, got to see them live once with Nickelback and disturbed it was a really good show they are really good live
Love this group, they don’t make a bad song. The Crow and the Butterfly and Atlas falls are excellent songs by them, along with what everyone else is suggesting.
NO ONE'S COMMENTED ON LEX'S TOOL SHIRT?! Seriously though check out their song "Fly From the Inside". When I first heard that song in the movie "Grind" I got goosebumps
It is so awesome how lex just naturally recognizes great songs almost instantly. And it is crazy how much joy I get from watching her discover these gems. You guys have no idea how many of my days you have brightened, thank you.
She's liking it!! ❤❤❤ Good taste!! ❤❤❤

Ya... just happened to me..awesome
I completely agree! Love the way she describes the music's emotions.
oh come on... shes cute, but not attractive enough to be that annoying
"I'd follow you" is also a must. Brent is one of the best frontmen in the history of rock.
Agreed 🤘❤️🖤
@@sarahilliard5317 he's fat and old now ..... voice is infitely better
You can't go wrong with Shinedown. Brent's vocals are always amazing, the lyrics are meaningful and the band is top notch.

Me too! This whole album is sooooooo good, which is extremely impressive for a bands first album.
I think I’ve heard of sixx am…any good?

Best reaction ever. Please do more shinedown. I've seen them so many times live. Great sing along music. Excellent voice in rock.
Shinedown is a great group. I was a huge fan of the Sound of Madness album. It was great from first note to the last.
The reason I love your channel is the duality. Brad is always absorbing the lyrics, while Lex forms an emotional bond with the sound. Perfect combo!
In this episode of Brad & Lex, Brent Smith's strong yet vulnerable cadence and dark melody manipulates Lex's movements miraculously. Damn Smitty, can I get some of what you smokin and you wanna hang out and narrate some random shit for us lol. That was epic

@@tilemonkee5510 all this time and you still can get his nuts out of your mouth, what a shame.
His voice just cuts through you. You feel every word he sings.

The acoustic version slays just as much as this. Brent's voice cuts deep straight into your soul!!

A majority of their albums are pretty good our best album to me is not even their first two it's the sound of madness

thats a good one. should also do not mad enough by smith and myers
I love this band so much, more Shinedown!!! They have so many good songs.

A very good band. Amazing vocals and so much of their music touches on real themes…

Yes please! That song is amazing!
Use to listen to this shit as a child. Singing the shit out of it in the back of my mom's van piled in with a bunch of musicians ❤️🤘🖤 great memories
Lex is so right about the releasing of that dark energy.
The acoustic version is great as well, I enjoy listening to both versions equally.
Thanks for the reaction!

4:10 ( I stretched my hands to the sky as I was yelling YESSS!!)this is why Lexi is so RAD, and ALWAYS gets it...
Shinedown is really Amazing. Please check songs "Burning Bright" & "Fly from the Inside" same first album called Leave a Whisper
Burning Bright is a banger for sure
Two of my absolute favorites from Shinedown - love this band!
The whole Leave A Whisper album is great.
Lex rocking that TOOL !
🖤❤️🤘❤️ Fuck yeah!! Shinedown!! Keep on Rocking n keep on Rollin!
An absolutely brilliant song !!! ...hoping the new album , out very soon , will produce such classics as well !!!
One of the best vocal ranges of our generation.. him and David draiman are the best voices of the early 2000’s imo
both absolutely amazing!!
When you talk out (or sing out) your demons it helps to release the pain.
I always smile and dance to songs about putting a gun in my mouth....
Love Lex sooo much! 🥺Thank you, Lex!
You guys are a national treasure
Shinedown might be my favorite rock band of the 21st century. Brent Smith has a strong, electric voice that's perfect for rock music.
Other Shinedown songs that I'd recommend include, but are not limited to:
"Fly From The Inside" (their first hit)
"Second Chance" (their biggest hit and signature song)
"Sound Of Madness" (the title track from their best-selling album)
"The Crow & The Butterfly" (arguably their most "beautiful" song)
"Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom)" (their contribution to a movie soundtrack)
"Adrenaline" (their fastest song)
"State Of My Head" (their first stab at a more "electro-pop" sound)
"How Did You Love" (their second stab at a more "electro-pop" sound)
"Planet Zero" (a welcome return to their rock roots with some very pertinent lyrics)
In particular, I think you might get a thrill out of Brent Smith's primal scream at the beginning of "Fly From The Inside."
TRIVIA: Shinedown have charted 28 hits on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart since 2003, and all 28 of them have reached the Top 5, which is a runaway record for the most consecutive, and ties them with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers for the second-most overall. Also, two weeks ago (chart issue March 5, 2022), "Planet Zero" became their 17th #1 hit on Mainstream Rock, setting a new record for the chart which has existed since 1981.
Definitely need to check out the acoustic version of this
Song by Blue October I think it’s hate me now or something like that it’s another really heavy song it’s worth a check out
Song gives me goosebumps
This is by far their best song
Shinedown's first 2 albums era just hits different. They've never topped those first two, IMO.
My BIL used to be in a Shinedown cover band. Really great band!
Shinedown 'State of My Head' will be right up your street, I think.
I love Shinedown, but this song is hard. The subject is not metaphorical, it’s addressing the actual act, and the emotions behind the act. I cry every time I hear it.

This song got me thru some dark dark times
Forgot about this song, gonna add this one to the playlist.
Men bury their Emotions deep.
Really good song I listen to it a lot when I was dealing with some depression, got to see them live once with Nickelback and disturbed it was a really good show they are really good live
You guys need to hear the live or acoustic versions of this song
There’s also an accoustic version of this song on the Burning Bright album
It’s hitting my man a little more different. This song is for the boys.
Brad may be on the words but Lex is spot on with the emotions. Shinedown doesn't disappoint.
Ahh Yeah Brad’s starting to feel it. Lex is definitely reeling Brad in 🤘🏽
