"Crow chasing a butterfly" is a song, where I used to pick up my 5 year old daughter ( at the time) and dance with her all over the living room. That's a great shindown song.... and one of my faves because it always reminds me of dancing with my daughter when she was a little girl.
Ah Shinedown! They are the kings of catchy chorus. I owned one of their CD's in highschool and used to blast it everyday on the way home. Some of their songs are too simple for me these days, but I still love a lot of them. Second Chance, Devour, 45, but especially the Sound of Madness get me feeling great.
Good morning from New England...Brent has the best voice in rock!!!! It's cool he got sober because as you can tell by the lyrics of this song he was struggling with addiction issues...Great pick guys..BTW Lex was saying his voice is sooo strong and fills up the mix in a way that a lot of voices dont..Peace from the Northeast...
this song is about the addiction he battled. A few songs are based on the monsters he's battled within. Each has a sort of motivating message in the lyrics. Their song Monsters is about dealing with personal monsters, guilt, addiction. Cut the cord, 45, second chances, Atlas Falls which was dedicated to the doctors, nurses, and first responders, those on the front line during the 2020 pandemic, and the proceeds of over $250,000 were donated to Direct Relief to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergency situations by mobilizing and providing essential medical resources needed for their care.
Shinedown has never written a bad song, but among the best are 'Heroes,' 'Diamond Eyes,' 'Unity,' '45,' 'Cut the Cord,' and their cover of 'Simple Man.'
The Great top list!!!! *Fly from the inside *45 *Burning Bright *Second chance *Devour *Sound of Madness *Miracle *The Crow & the Butterfly *If You only knew *Call Me *Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom) *Héroes *Bully *Unity *Enemies *I'll follow you *Adrenaline *Amaryllis *My name (Wearing me out) Edit add: *What a Shame. *Cut the Chord. The Masterpieces! by Shinedown
Maybe the voice quality you're trying to describe is "richness?" Like when a voice can go high but still keep the lower tones in it and keep a fuller sound instead of being thin and brittle. Or vice versa, being low but not shallow and empty-sounding. Just a thought.
Saw them in concert twice. First time was in a smaller theater setting. I wasn’t really a fan of them before that night. I mean I liked 45 but that was about it. Dude they rocked and made a new fan that night. I think a lot of times the experience seeing a band live is much better than hearing a song on the radio
If you want more of his simple man-esqe voice there are all kinds of phenomenal Shinedown songs. Some suggestions would be Some Day, What a Shame, and Call me. However, all Shinedown's songs are great. I see a lot of other great suggestions in the comments as well. Additionally, Shinedown's lead singer, Brent Smith, and one of the bands guitarists have a seperate artist name "Smith and Meyers" in which they cover all kinds of popular songs. Definetely worth checking these things out! You won't regret it!
I think it is amazing how Brad & Lex hear a song so differently Lex sees and hears the music then the lyrics, Brad sees and hears the lyrics then the music...
Any Shinedown is awesome...the first time I heard them was when they opened for Puddle of Mudd in the University of Missouri-Rolla (Go Miners) gymnasium to about 150 people (2009) been a fan since....seen them live about 5 times since, never disappointed
They're from Jacksonville. This was created at the height of the Opoid epidemic here in Florida. I was in active addition at this time. This song rang so true at that time. I thank God that I'm clean and sober today. Love you guy's ❤️🐊🌞🌴😎
*The Crow and the Butterfly* absolutely showcases the amazing capability of Brent Smith's voice. And really anything off the album The Sound of Madness, there's not a single bad song on it.
Brent was asked recently what th hardest SD song to sing live is. He said it was easily TC&TB, b/c th runs in it are brutal. It's an incredible fkn song though, I luv it
If you want to hear Brent’s Vocal range you’ll have to listen to the song “burning Bright”by them! This guy has a powerful voice and this song brings it out tenfold!
Love Shinedown and have listened to many interviews. Brent said that he locked himself in a hotel room and detoxed off of coke and oxytocin he did speed balls every day. He came out a week later clean. The birth of his son Lyric made him get clean if not for him Brent has said he probably would be dead.
You have to check out "Monsters", "Get Up", "How did you Love?" Shinedown's hits catalog is deep but some of the lesser know songs are their best songs a lot of their songs deal with addiction, & mental health among other things. Also check out Smith & Myers it's the lead singer & guitarist from Shinedown doing Covers & their own music, check out "Not Mad Enough" which is about the police brutality & killings & check out "Bad at Love" or their cover of INXS' "Never Tear us Apart". Love their music's messages & Brent Smith's voice is a gem 💎.
There is not a single song by Shinedown that is not absolute magic! Brent Smith has one of the all time greatest voices in rock! They’re even better live!
Brad & Lex...If you like Shinedown, check out Smith & Myers. They are the Frontman and Lead guitarist for Shinedown. They have a side project where they do covers. All of them are so wonderful, mostly because of Brent Smith's commanding voice
If you guys haven't did SECOND CHANCE BY SHINEDOWN ITS A MUST. You wanna hear his powerful voice do this reactions ull love it. Second chance is their biggest hit
SO many great songs by Shinedown!! I'll echo all of the suggestions above and throw in "Burning Bright", "Miracle" and "Breaking Inside" as some of my other favorites!
This is the first Shinedown song I ever heard, and I was immediately a fan. And this really resonated with me, because not long before, I lost my sister to heroin. So this really hit me hard. And yes, you do try to do all you can to save those that turn down this path, but, unfortunately, you don't always win.
Artists of the elite caliber seem to have an intimate relationship with drugs and depression. Alot of them, as you all know, don't make it. Layne Staley, Chris Cornell, Scott Weiland, Chester Bennington....and many more have lost their fight. (Sorry for the spelling mistake if any) It seems their music is all the help they have, or will accept in some cases. I'm glad to have it, and many are helped by it. It's just sad it can't do the same for them. Love yalls reviews!
Greatest Rock vocalist since Axl Rose. Brent Smith is already a Rock God. Breathing life back into Rock one note at a time. When God said let there be Rock. He had Brent in mind.
You guys should try a Canadian band The Tea Party and their song Save Me. (Totally different theme, lyrically and more powerful in my opinion) 🇨🇦 keep up doing your stuff, I enjoy it.
You gotta watch the original video with that, the video is EVERYTHING, that video HAS to be seen with this song, you are missing the massive impact without it. Trust me!!!
When you guys go for 45, which you will probably will, you need to do the Acoustic version, it hits so much, for me personally is Brent's peak vocal performance I've seen to date.
Shinedown Heroes, Call Me, Atmosphere,45,Black Cadillac, Some Day, Breaking Inside, Enemies, Bully, Devour, The Crow & The Butterfly, Cut The Cord, Sound Of Madness, Outcast, Fake and Second Chance You can't go wrong with any of those. :)

45 and Sound of Madness. Brent Smith is easily one of the most powerful vocalist. A lot of his songs are written about his past addiction to drugs.

Brad has the most tremendous voice and reaches great heights and valleys with it.
