The ESR Halo Lock is my go to. I have used it on multiple cases on my Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro. If you use the Samsung centering guide that is included in the box of the ESR Halo just go for the one that puts the G in the middle of the circle wireless charging works pixel stand 2 works fine. Never had any problem and have tried it on multiple MagSafe products including a mag safe wireless charger. Just aim for the G to be in this middle of the circle of the magnet. Like I said there is a Samsung fitting kit and I want to say the Samsung one put it on c slot into the fitting kit and it will put it perfectly in the middle of the G!!
I would also say I feel much more comfortable with the metal rings like the ESR Halo Lock because I use a Mag safe pop socket and a MagSafe mount in the car and I just feel they hold better and I feel more comfortable having my phone more secure. And the easy way to get it off with the metal ring holding stronger is just slide it in a downward motion and it will come off easily!!
I’m too scared to center the ring on the G. Main reason is. I did a live stream and mounted one of the WNKX rings a bit too high, and then had to drop it down. Ever since then I have been leery of putting the ring up too high. It won’t charge with a MagSafe power bank, if the ring is up to high for some reason. So I’ve always just put it a little off-center to the G. So for me, the ESR halo MagSafe ring, setting works best at the B. It’s the setting for the Samsung S 22+. Hey, I want to thank you for taking the time to leave a detailed comment. It helps a lot.
@@SomethingMobile I used it at the center of the G on my pixel 6 Pro for about 7 months and then in October of last year when I got my 7 Pro. I also use it at the center of the G on it. Also zero problems with wireless charging and zero problems with it slipping off. I use a casely external battery wireless charger hey Magsafe popsocket and a mag safe cup holder mount in my car . But I do agree with you on how hot it gets from using an external battery wireless charger I sometimes will use a little 2 inch c to c connection and that will eliminate how hot it gets and I can still charge my phone on the go.
I believe it's Latercase. Or you can search for any other aramid case. Latercase, as far as I remember, doesn't go above the screen too much, this is what double crossed it in my case. Instead, I chose Spigen Thin Fit which is absolutely gorgeous and still quite protective.
My biggest worry is putting something magnetic on the back of my phone, and then putting it in my pocket and running the risk of it demagnetizing one or all of my cards. Has this been a concern for you? Or am I overthinking it?
It really hasn't been an issue for me that I have noticed. I feel like the normal wear and tear of taking the cards out of the card holder would probably wear out the magnetic strip faster than anything else. I also use Google pay and Apple pay quite a bit. My cards have chips on them also so the cashier hardly ever has to swipe my card. I don't think I've seen my card being swiped for the past 2 years. Ever since the chip was installed on credit cards and debit cards.
Since both cases have magnetic rings (as opposed to just metal rings) do they stick to each other or do they repel? I am thinking of making my own magsafe DIY wallet and want to know if its worth buying one of these magnets to put on the wallet to stick to the magnets on the case. Thanks in advance.
Can you test if one of the actual magnetic rings will have a better hold or connection between the phone and case when connected to a charger? It's funny you mentioned not having AC. I don't have working heat in my truck 😆, don't really need it where I live.
Just to clarify. You are referring to the actual magnet MagSafe rings like Mophie and Sinjimoru. Correct. While also being placed between the phone and the case. In other words. The magnet will be placed on the phone not the case? If so yeah I will consider doing that. I can tell you for sure that a metal right has better holding power than a magnet ring. You will not get the realignment ability the magnet ring has, but the metal ring does have more holding power.
Hi! I like your detailed description of the products. I do have a question. I want to get one of the magnetized rings for my Pixel 7. I just got an Incase Parallax case and I would like to put the ring onto the phone, put the case over it and us it with a battery pack (if needed) when traveling. You think is possible? I don't want to change cases because I really like this one. I know there are Mouse cases that already have installed but they're not that cool looking. 😂🤣.
I understand wanting to go with aesthetics for your case. You wanted to look the best it can. So have you thought about getting the dbrand grip and a skin for that grip? What's cool about the grip is it's obviously really grippy, but to me the main feature is being able to switch out a skin on the back of the case. Whenever you want to change the look. What's also cool about that is you can put the ring underneath the skin on the back of the case. I highly recommend not putting a metal or magnetic ring underneath the case that you have. The main reason is the magnetic hold will not be strong enough to function properly. I have tried it. It just doesn't work well enough. It will have enough of a hold to align itself to a charger, but it won't hold an accessory like the popsocket I have in this video.
@@SomethingMobile Thank you very much for taking the time to reply and also give me an idea for the customization of the phone's looks. I appreciate it. Keep up the great work!
Oh, I love how much you focus on practical aspects like putting the phone with the ring into the pocket. Here's my question: do you think it could be possible to put one of the thinner, metal rings INSIDE a Spigen Thin Fit for Pixel 7 Pro, and just use it for charging on a desk stand? Would that make sense?
So, from what I hear the google stand doesn’t work with MagSafe very well. I’m not sure what the problem is as of yet because I don’t have the stand. But for sure it will help if you have a MagSafe table charger. The flat version by ESR would work well. The only problem with wireless charging with the pixel seven pro is heat. The pixel seven pro tends to heat up quite a bit when wireless charging. This is bad because batteries and heat are basically enemies. Heat will deteriorate your battery in your phone faster than anything else. So the more you can plug in your phone the better.
@@SomethingMobile I was rather thinking about a desk magsafe stand with a 15W charger, rather than the Google stand. I currently have a Baseus 15 watt wireless charger, one that I've used quite long with my P6. Thing is, I do not always place the phone on it properly and find it at 50 percent or so in the morning.
@Dominik Oslizlo, yes, I think you could do that. What would work best for centering is a magnetic ring. That would insure that the charger is truly aligned. Adversely, a metal ring would not try to align your phone on the magsafe charger. Hope this helps friend.
I cant plug into the phone, I am a delivery driver, I need to pull the phone from the mount around 200 times a shift, to take it with me then I need to put it back on the magnetic holder/charger when I am done so it charges a bit as I drive and then I can repeat. the whole reason I am goign wireless charging is to avoid plugging the cable to the phone 200 times a day and potentially breaking my phones charging port. I like the ESR but I do not trust a vent mount, so I am going with a suction mount so I can remove it daily and take it home, plus hopefully it has mo0re stability while mounted than a vent mount.
I’ve tried that with the Spigen Thin Fit, and it did not work. The ring actually did attach to my popsocket wallet, but it could barely lift the weight of the phone. What you can do is purchase a dbrand grip case. Those have an adhesive sticker, that will attach to the back of the case. You can use that skin to cover up the ring. You can find those at dbrand.com.
Sorry it took so long for me to get back to this comment. Did you end up deciding on a magsafe ring, and did it work when you put it on a metal surface?
It's not absolutely too thick. But it is noticeably thicker. I'm using one of the mosties underneath the skin right now, and that thing I was worried about actually happens with that. It pulls the sides of the skin away from where they're supposed to lay against the case. Naturally, without a ring under it. I think I still would prefer to using one of the magnetic rings. So the one to probably go with would be the Sinjimoru underneath that skin possibly.
@@SomethingMobile Sorry to clarify, do you mean going with WYNK metal rings under dbrand skin (not sinjimoru) - If I place a WYNK ring underneath the skin, how many millimeters below the camera bar should i place the ring? Would you be able to do a strength test on the magnetic rings? I'm curious if it will rotate or fall off when I video tape my car at the race track. Does the phone stay on after a violent shake with the Mophie? Thanks!
I’ve done a video where I have tested the strength on most of these MagSafe rings. The ring that has the strongest hold is made by Wynkx. I’ve seen it hold up to 8 pounds of weight. That is still not enough to hold the phone on my MagSafe car mount going 30 miles an hour over train tracks..
So if I'm planning on getting the ESR HaloLock Wireless Car Charger w/ CryoBoost to use with my non-OEM-MagSafe iPhone (XS Max) by way of one of these magnetic ring adapters, it would actually be functionally better to get either the Mophie or the Sinjimoru as opposed to ESR's own ring adapter since the former two would (seemingly, if I'm understanding this vid correctly) snap into place much more effectively/accurately since those two have built-in magnets and the ESR ring does not? Am I understanding that right? I've been looking at several different wireless+magnetic car mount options for my XS Max over the past week and I think I've decided on the ESR HaloLock Wireless Car Charger for the car mount itself, now I just have to figure out which ring adapter would work best with that mount. I was going to just assume the ESR ring would work best with the ESR mount until I saw this vid, but before I go ahead and buy either the Mophie ring or Sinjimoru ring, I just want to make sure I'm understanding it right that those two would actually, in fact, be better for use with the ESR mount than ESR's own ring. Am I understanding this all correctly?
Yes, the only thing that the actual magnets do is help with alignment. When you go set the phone on the charger with an actual magnet MagSafe ring. It will align itself. If you get the ESR ring or any other metal ring, it will just simply want to stick to any MagSafe charger. Due to the fact that magnets don’t mind adhering to any part of metal. But magnets do care about aligning correctly to other magnets. Now, to say that it’s actually better to buy magnets versus metal. That is completely up to you. It would be a personal preference thing. I personally feel like metal MagSafe rings have a stronger hold of the two magsafe products. But the MagSafe magnet rings are plenty strong enough.

Yes, absolutely. If I was you, I wouldn’t get one that has the strongest hold. Because you pull the thing off and put it back on 200 times plus per day. It wouldn’t be a good idea to have the strongest hold. Mainly the reason is the adhesive that’s holding onto the magnetic ring is going to wear out faster if the ring magnetic hold is stronger. I recommend the Sinjimoru. An easy recommendation for you. Or the Mophie ring would be good to. The reason why I’m recommending those two over the others is because they are actual magnets. Magnets do not hold as strong as metal rings do. ESR makes a metal ring. The WYNKX rings that I’m recommend here in this video are also metal. I would not recommend getting those. For somebody else that needs a super strong hold. Those are the rings you should get. But for you because you have to take the phone off and put it back on constantly and you have to rely on strong adhesive. I would get the Sinjimoru.
@@SomethingMobile Thanks for the great reply. I tried this at work yesterday and the Pitaka case with built in ring worked flawlessly but I don't think the case offers any protection, so I am going to equip a Torras case with a ring. I bought the sinjimoru ring but had the wrong case, so I had to pull the ring back off until the new case arrives so now I'm worried it may not adhere properly sigh.. So I am left with either try it, order another or try the ESR. You said you think using it as much as I do, I should go with the weaker solution, but my concern is the phone staying on the charger while I drive. The Pitaka case with ring and Pitaka charger together were great, very strong hold to the phone with no worries of it ever coming off, but now that I am going to equip a different case to use with the same Pitaka charger I really do want the strongest. I think since I already have a Sinjimoru that I will get the ESR so I can compare them myself before I apply either of them to see which offers a better grip. If in time it does pull the ring off then Ill order another or try the Sinjimoru. Thanks again, I appreciate the time you took. If the Sinnjimoru ends up not sticking because I had installed it then peeled it off, Ill use the ESR for a day and see how it performs, if it isn't an issue Ill leave it at that, but if as you mention it does create a problem pulling it off the charger so many times a day then I will order a new sinjimoru and be done with it.
All right, so here’s the best I can do. I was watching a video about somebody saying that consistency is the only cheat code. It motivated me and I really liked the message.
Did you test these rings with the 1st or 2nd gen Pixel Stand?
I have not done that. I have seen some having connection issues though.
Can i get the wallpaper link?
All right, so here’s the best I can do. I was watching a video about somebody saying that consistency is the only cheat code. It motivated me and I really liked the message. The video is done by a RUclips channel called think media. They were doing an interview and a studio tour of social proof podcast. Go to this video link and scroll to the 3:06 point in the video. You can then put your phone in landscape mode and snap a screenshot. That’s what I did. Then just use that as your wallpaper. Here’s the link. ruclips.net/video/4JjPvYMpUbM/видео.html
