I laughed myself into a fit seeing that as much as Apple talks a high game about Magsafe, all I need is a magnetic sticker to get the experience without their ecosystem
It's a very Apple-like thing to do, isn't it? They have excellent marketing to the point that now people are using the Apple term Magsafe for anything magnetic on a phone, when that's just what it is. Magnets. Same thing with Face ID. It's now used interchangeably with face recognition.
@@LuisRamonLachmannSilva There's no such thing as "Android's facial recognition" Android is just an OS, it's up to each phone manufacturer to implement the type of facial recognition they wish via hardware. Which was the case at some point, a few Android based phones had the same level of facial recognition as iPhones do, and even today either Honor or Oppo, forgot which one, have a top of the range phone that has the same facial recognition capacity as an iPhone. So yes, it is disputable. And either way, your comment made no sense in the context of what I said, because I was never talking about facial recognition differences between Apple and Android based phones, anyway, I was simply saying that people use Face ID and facial recognition interchangeably in the same way people call tissues Kleenex.
I wirelessly charged my Pixel 7 at 12W in 2 hours and 37 minutes using the following setup: Spigen Rugged Armor case, ESR HaloLock Universal MagSafe Ring 360, ESR HaloLock Kickstand MagSafe Compatible Wireless Charger with 5 ft removable cable, Google 30W USB-C Power Charger. Adaptive charging and adaptive battery On. Charging was monitored using a MakerHawk Type-C USB Meter Tester. The kickstand held the phone off the table for better cooling. With the kickstand flat on the table, the charging time was 3 hours and 15 minutes. The similar ESR HaloLock mini Wireless Charger showed “Connected, not charging.”
@gcforreal Thanks for sharing. I just discovered the option for MagSafe conversion rings. I just ordered the ESR version to compare with the Spigen option. I also ordered the ESR car chargers. The Cryro and the regular version. I will see if the cooling option really does speed up the charging. Should be a fun vid.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about the peak design case. I also like that it has some proprietary accessories as well as MagSafe compatibility. The reason why I used this plain case in the video is because I like the Spigen thin fit as an every day carry. But yes, it definitely is a plain case. I thought the carbon fiber ring by Spigen would be a nice touch to help complete the look of the case. I definitely understand that It’s not for everybody though.
Would love to see a magsafe adapter shootout : Mophie Vs Spigen Vs ESR Vs Sinjimoru. Comparsion to rate Magnet strength / design / feel to the touch (e.g. grip, sharp, smooth). Don't think anyone has done such a review yet. I think mophie wins the strength test but the reviews on its sharp edges puts me off. If it were possible to perhaps sand down the sharp edges as a hack without damaging it?
I had totally forgotten that you left this message. Thank you so much for giving me a thumbs up on my comments reply. You are the one that recommended this comparison. I totally forgot about this. OK I need to get on this for you. I must have been super tired when I read this message or something. Please come back here and ask me again if I don’t do this within the next two weeks. Thank you, Robin!
@@SomethingMobile no problem. I just finished watching your stream. I just had mous intralock evolution cases delivered to me for my pixel 7 and 7 pro, and you are right, its a 'wide' case. The narrower the case the better. And i'm glad the magnetic ring worked out. Can I ask, what was the exact distance from the bottom of the camera bar that you refitted the magnet ring to?
@@RBNMAN, so sorry I saw this late. RUclips didn’t notify me on your reply. 🙂. Center of the ring should be about 2.75 inches from the bottom of the case. The Google logo is not quite center of the ring. It’s more near the top of the ring.
@@SomethingMobile Would love for you to do this type of review. I've been looking for one and haven't found it yet. I'm considering options and would like to know the best.
Will the phone stick to the magsafe charger without that magnet? I like dBrand leather skins and don't want the metal thing on my phone but I want to just slap my P7P onto a magsafe vent mount for the car
Can you do a strength test with the magsafe popsocket with the pixel? I'm considering a mouse case with magsafe built in so it'll be different, but I would love to see more of a look into that. Like hang something off of it until it falls so I can see how strong it is. Everyone just shaking it makes it not seem too strong to me even though everyone says it's strong.
can you tell me distance between the top of the metalic ring and the lenses module? i want to aply a ring to a normal ringke case but it needs to be in the perfect place in order to not interfere with the wireless charge.
I bought a magcase for my Google pixel 7 pro but it doesn't seem to charge properly it says connected not charging then charging its unreliable, so I bought a 15w and its no different any advice or are they all the same?
@Something Mobile also have you tried the quad lock wireless charger does it charge the pixel 7 pro, I know I can buy a quad lock case but is the charger output enough for charging while using maps
@@mikesmith5638 I have not use the quad lock. I have used the ESR version of the car charger with the wireless charging pad built into it. I also bought a PD charger for that accessory as well. So it can charge at its fastest charging rate while in the car. The only problem with it while using maps is the phone heats up and will stop charging. I have the ESR version that has a cooler built into it but it doesn’t work well enough. That happened and it was during the winter just recently. So I can only imagine if it was really hot outside during the summer. I really don’t feel like wireless charging is the correct way to charge a pixel seven Pro. the best way to charge a pixel seven pro is to plug it in. And then use the car mounts to hold your phone in place. The car mount uses a USBC cable as well. Might as well just plug it in and let the car mounts act as a car mount. While I have you here, can you please tell me what case you are using at the moment that will not work with MagSafe charging?
Hah, it's NOT perfectly centered 😁 Here's a tip: to achieve a more centered position, place the phone in portrait, not landscape position. Then, the point of view won't trick you. Great vid by the way. Thank you.
If you have an actual magnet on the phone and not just a metal ring, then yeah, maybe it could. The only thing is the camera bump will probably push the phone up at a slant and cause the magnet on the back of the phone to not fully contact the surface of the refrigerator. This could cause it not to stick.
If I had to choose one it would be the iPhone 14 Pro Max, but I would still want to have an Android phone as well. There’s a super consistent user experience with the iPhone. And a new, unexplored, and unlimited feeling to using and Android. I would choose consistency if I had to.
@@SomethingMobile I agree. I have the 14 pro max and the Apple Watch Ultra. I just ordered a Pixel 7 pro that I am going to pick up tomorrow. I already had one and returned it. But I keep getting bored with the IPhone.
Hello, if you had the Pixel 7 Pro. I could tell you, but I would be somewhat off if I told you a number for your Pixel 7. If you center the ring on the logo that is not where it should be. Lower the ring just off center of the logo. Make the top of the logo closer to the top inside of the ring than the bottom. Just slightly though. Tape it down with scotch tape to see if a battery charger will church your phone. If it will. Peel of the temporary scotch tape. Peel the back of the ring off and place it there. If not readjust and try again. That’s the best way to do this. Test, test, and test until it is right. You will also feel more confident in placement if you do it this way. Ask Andy questions. I’m here to help if I can.
I would say your guess is as good as mine. It remains a mystery. Nonetheless, this is a positive thing for the brand. No one knows how to say its name correctly that causes more conversation about the brand. Lol pretty smart.
